PostSubject: Language Arts 101   Language Arts 101 EmptyWed Mar 20, 2013 6:03 pm

A woman stood in front of a rather large, pristine chalkboard, one arm held behind her back as she wrote her name in large, beautiful cursive letters for all her students to see - each movement carefully made as she hummed herself a sweet tune.

Setting the chalk gently back on its rack, she spun around and sat quietly at her desk, gently stacking the papers in front of her to the side and picking up a list of students that would be attending; there were so many new initiates this year! She certainly hoped that she could handle them all. The woman pushed a few white bangs out of her hair and turned her head, smiling when the first new arrival came in. "Welcome!" The professor grinned cheerfully, "Have a seat anywhere~."

Wren bounced in, her ponytail swinging in sync with each long step. She adjusted the strap on her camera bag and held her books close to her chest. She gave a polite nod to the teacher and clumsily took a seat in the front of the room.

Sean was the first student to walk into the classroom. He was so extatic for his first class he couldn't hold back a big smile. He chose a random desk. It was in the second row, fourth column. He sat and spoke, "Good morning Professor Nabell." with a confident nod, he waited for role-call.

Evelyn quietly stepped into the classroom, taking everything in. It was rather plain, like classrooms usually are, but didn't seem that different from a... well, a normal school. She didn't know what she was expecting, this was just an English class after all, but still. Things had been so strange lately, she wouldn't have been surprised if there was some kind of bizarre change.

No matter. Things being normal for once... ironically, it'd be a welcome change. Though, maybe her definition of "normal" would need to change now.

She quickly walked towards the back of the classroom, setting her bag down by her desk and looking forward at the teacher. Class. Unlike some students, she was sure, she enjoyed learning and the quiet of the classroom. Well, quiet of the classrooms when people weren't horsing around. But this was a boarding school. Maybe they'd be more behaved? Evelyn hoped so.

Even so, she felt slightly nervous. A new school meant new teachers as well... hopefully they were all as kind as this teacher seemed to be.

Somehow she doubted that.

Montare walked into the room, a slightly confused look on his face. He was not in a classroom very often, but luckily knew what it was like to some extent due to being taught by clan eld--he stopped and focused. He needed to get his clan off of his mind. He sat down in a seat in the second row by a window at the side of the room.

Lotte strolled into the classroom, a camera tucked into her jacket pocket and slightly visible. She was ready to learn English!.....some more! She had a cute smile on her face, and examined the students in front of her. Oh, how badly she wanted to take a picture of this moment. An Average Day at Work. She could add it to her photographs around the school, publish it, and become instantly famous. Sadly, though, she wasn't allowed to take out her camera, or at least she was afraid to find this out. Stupid school. She took a seat in the middle of the room, and Ethel sat on the desk itself. She'd have to move it they started writing or using a book, so she wanted to get as much time seated as she could, afraid that if she sat in a desk she would get squashed. Horrible memories flashed in her mind of the incident with Alicia.

Next to walk into the room was Lindsey, carrying her bag over her shoulder in the most casual way. She didn't really like to be in school, but maybe this was going to be different considering this was a different kind of school. She wore a huge smile on her face as she scanned the room for the perfect seat. She finally found it, the seat closest to the window where light was able to pour in and just make the room a little bit brighter and happier, not that it wasn't happy already. Then, in a way, she skipped cheerfully to the desk and let her bag fall to the ground with a thud before she sat down and immediately rested her head on her hand that was propped up by her elbow. She hoped today was going to be a good day.

Then, just after Lindsey, Richard walked inside the room cautiously and glanced around. He didn't know anyone that was here, so he wasn't too sure where to sit. He didn't want to end up taking someone's seat, so he made sure that wherever he was going to go was away from the people. Maybe they would end up making room for friends and such around him instead of him having to move. Shifting his book bag into a better position on his back, he quietly made his way through the middle aisle and took a see basically in the middle of the class room. It was a place no one really wanted to sit, at least it was that way in his old school, and hopefully it was that way now because usually people wanted to sit in the very back or on the sides away from the teacher's desk and away from the board.

Kimply peeked into the room, nervously brushing through her strawberry blonde. She looked around, pleased to see that there wasn't to many people in the room. She had trouble falling asleep that night; her dorm room was empty and silent. Her roommates from the previous year had moved out, so now she had to wait till the rest of the initiates were sorted. Stepping inside the classroom, she looked around at the new faces. This seemed like an interesting group. Then again, at a school like Beata, every group was interesting.

Kimply slid into her desk, and looked around. People were still taking their time to get to class, so the bright eyed girl looked around for someone to talk to.

~

Jayden slipped inside the classroom. His brother was probably still sleeping; he wouldn't be surprised if that was the truth. He looked around to find a good seat before settling on one in the back. Better not to draw a lot of attention to himself. In his hands he held a simply black notebook, blank and ready to use. Though his brother would be in the same class, Jayden figured he would need it anyway. Jason had suggested it more times than he could count, but Jayden had stubbornly refused. Until now. It felt light without words, though he imagined that was merely his imagination. Writing in it would magically change the wait, after all.

Scilene walked carefully into the room, careful not to trip. That would be embarrassing. Scanning over the group of people, she could only pick out a few people she knew. Fidgeting with her bag, nervous. This was so unlike her, yet it was her first time. Who couldn't be a little nervous? Walking past desks, Scilene took a seat near the back of the room. It didn't mean she was one of the people who liked to talk...She just didn't want to be up near the front. She gave the teacher a smile, then Scilene looked around some more in case she missed someone. Oh, there was that kid with the tablet from the conservatory. Sheesh, that guy has anger issues.

Shin walked into the room not long after Scilene, his scrolls weighing down his bag. Man, I need to learn to pack light. he thought with amusement as he found an open seat near the front. Language arts? This is his idea of recess. lolnautrly Drooping his bag on the back of the chair, he slipped into his seat and stretched. First class of the day. Just hope nothing goes wrong. >.>

Gilda skipped into the room, excited to start her first class. Choosing a desk, she sat down, placing her bag below it. Taking out a pencil and notebook, she placed them on her desk, ready for when the class started.

Hosa poked her head into the room, before looking around. Noting that she was in the right room, she made the rest of the way in, her hands firmly around her bag that she clung to her chest. Trying to find a place to sit, she placed herself on the first free desk that she saw, sitting in the very front.

Following Hosa came Netro, his gaze uneasy as he glanced around the already crowded room. Taking a deep breath or two to calm down, he made his way over to a free desk and also sat down, making sure he had all of his stuff as he waiting for class to start.

Wren looked around for someone she knew, but after scraping the room she didn't see much. She remained quiet and looked down at her books, anxious for class to start. The teacher looked nice enough, but basing from experience, the nice ones were the ones that once they blew up it was deadly. And actually, basing by the fact this was a school for people with abilities Wren was pretty sure death could happen. Not knowing what might send this teacher to snap, Wren sunk down lower in her seat, no one had sat down next to her yet, so Wren didn't have anyone to talk to. Good, with no distractions, hopefully she would actually do good in school for once.

The woman tallied every person as soon as they walked in, having a chart on her clipboard with names, pictures, gifts, and other pieces of information that she might need. 'Wren, Sean, Montare... Lotte... Hosa...' She ran the names down in her head. She paused for a few moments though on one name, looking up for her board and squinting her eyes, she glanced around the room - as if searching for something. Or someone. Ah -

The teacher walked forward and approached Evelyn's desk, bending over as to get on her level. "You must be Miss White." She said, smiling kindly and pulling something out of the pocket of her skirt. It was a metal token, with the symbol of winter etched into it, hooked to a light chain. She had looked into the student's records quite thoroughly and had some up with a solution should she ever accidentally looked over. "Take this with you every day and hang it up there, so I'll know for sure you're in class. Alright, Sweety?" Professor Nabell pointed back to a small hook by the edge of the chalkboard and stood up, leaving her with the coin and walking back to her spot in the front of the class.

"Okay, Class~." The woman said cheerfully, leaning against the front of her desk, pointing to the chalkboard. "Good Morning - settle down - My name is Professor Nabell~ I'll be your English instructor this year." She pondered, looking thoughtful, "Hm... A bit about myself... I obviously enjoy teaching and poetry - And, oh. You must all of course be wondering; I have the natural ability to understand any language - sign language included." She shot the two Wright brothers a look. Don't get any ideas. "And yes~ I plan on giving you homework today~! Everyone pull out a piece of paper!" She said these words in a very giddy tone, walking to the side of the classroom and pulling out a cart of books, giving time for the students to do so.

_________

Alicia had taken a seat in the front, next to the window, glancing around the classroom to see if there were anyone she knew and staying quiet when the teacher began to start talking. She wasn't particularly a hard-working student, but she always thought it polite and nice to give respect to the teacher. She did see a familiar girl with pink hair - and oh, Montare was here as well... Lovely. The newly summer girl sighed and pulled out a piece of paper, wanting to focus on class and get it over with - and it was only the first day...

Alright, let's get something straight here, Jason was not sleeping. He did happen to snooze in a little later than expected, but that was totally besides the point. When he walked into the classroom, the young man still seemed rather groggy - and his hair was a bit of a bed-headed mess - but he still manage to step inside before the bell rang and take a seat between Scilene, Evelyn, and his brother. He tossed his bag on the ground and fought back a yawn, "Did I miss much? No, we're good? Okay." He slammed a paper on the desk and threw his head back - almost ready to fall asleep again.

Homework on the first day? Hosa moaned softly as she started to fumble around her stuff, trying to find a single piece of paper that she hadn't doodled something on. She really had a bad habit of doing so. Finally, finding a clean sheet and having located a pencil, she was ready to go.

Netro frowned. He disliked homework, but he didn't dwell on the matter. His gaze flickered up sightly as he spotted Jason coming in, but he soon pulled out a clean piece of paper and was ready to go. He made sure he knew where everything he would need in this class was, and smiled as he got ready for his first lesson at Beata.

At first Evelyn thought she was in trouble or that Miss Nabell was going to sacrifice her to the Social Study gods when the token was planted in her hand. She looked it over carefully, slowly realizing its purpose. How thoughtful...

"O-okay..." she muttered, looking back up only to see the Professor walk back to the front of the class. Stuffing the coin into her bag so she wouldn't get distracted before pulling out a notebook. She carefully pulled the first page out from its metal spine, moving carefully inch by inch to make sure no tears got into the paper.

You might call that unnecessary or Springish, but she wanted, no, required a neat and evenly sized piece of paper to work on. Why? Well... it was just ideal for working conditions. She couldn't rush it, could she?

Pulling out a fresh pencil, Evelyn immediately and methodically began to print her small neat letters in the right hand corner of the paper.
