Quantum tunneling refers to the quantum mechanical phenomenon where a particle tunnels through a barrier that it classically could not surmount. So basically he can walk through walls and the ground and such. Heck, if he wanted to, he could phase through the earth and end up in China once he's able to master it. Although, it sucks when he gets stuck in a wall or something due to lack of control. It's usually quite painful as well.
