Chains of Power [CLOSED]

Blond hair bounced as the angel-boy nodded agreeing to Grace's question about flying. Thanks to Keirsta, he could now fly. While he had a rough time at first, it had become easier by the minute. It was natural to him. It was quiet for a moment, he seemed to guess that Grace was thinking. He didn't want to interrupt her thoughts, he turned to observe the court yard. Only to be drawn back as she spoke again. Her words put a grin on his face. "Thanks, Grace!" While, he could tell that the smile was forced, he couldn't help but think that she was doing her best. He understood that talking wasn't her forte, but he wanted to do his best to make sure she didn't feel bad about herself for not being able to talk well to other people. "I'm sure you can find out more about your power as well." He replied, his own confidence in her showing in his words. She could do it, Leo knew she could.

Find out more? But what else was there to find out? As far as she knew, that was it. It was an appreciated sentiment though, and she nodded her thanks as darkness danced along her hand, unrestrained but weak. Now what? She wracked her brain for anything else to talk about, but there really was only one thing. "Do you... I-I mean, have you heard of the Summer Tournament?" Of course, all she'd heard about it was from Kayla, but she was slowly piecing together what it must be in her brain. How big would it be, though? Would everyone be there?

Leo listened closely to Grace, his grin was replaced with a smile. "Yeah! I've already signed up." He told the shy girl with enthusiasm. "It'll be nice to be able to go all out on someone. You may not be able to know your own strengths until you are pushed against the wall and have no where to go." That is what Leo was hoping for. There had to be more to his abilities then just wings and muscles. There was a pause before blue eyes looked at Grace curiously. "Have you signed up? I think you should, it may help you be more confident." It was a stretch with the confidence bit, but it could help her with her powers, and make her feel confident. Especially if she gets to beat someone up. According to some of his friends, doing so is a stress reliever. Not that Leo would agree, however.

Grace gave him a nervous, wide-eyed expression. Admittedly she had considered it, but she wasn't fully committed. This was to be a battle, right? She would be destroyed. "I-I've considered it," she murmured softly, wringing her shadowed hands together as she spoke. "M-maybe I will." Would it help her become more confident? Maybe. Although maybe getting totally humiliated in combat would only serve to make her feel worse about herself. Who knew. Then again, she already felt pretty bad, so how much worse could it be? She needed to put herself out there more. For two years that's all she wanted to do, and now that she had the opportunity, she was shying away from it. Two-years-ago her would be very disapproving.

Leo nodded as she said that she might join. There wasn't really anything for Grace to lose...besides the little confidence that she has. But it all depends on how Grace would handle loosing. Leo was sure there would be a lot of people who were strong that would go out in the first one, so she shouldn't feel too bad if she lost. Which was a good point. Leo turned to her to voice that. "There will be a lot of strong people there, no one will mock you if you got out in the first round. There will be plenty of strong people getting out in the first round." He himself, didn't think he'd make it through the first round. Sure, his power was very offensive, but it was a bit never wracking to be fighting against another human being.

The problem wasn't losing in the first round: it was getting humiliated. She had no fighting skills; how was she supposed to even hold her own? Still, the blonde boy seemed sincere enough about it. Grace gave him a small smile and nodded, something she seemed to be doing a lot. She couldn't just deny his opinion outright, though. It wasn't like he knew. "M-maybe we'll f-fight a-after the first round." Assuming she even got out of it alive, relatively speaking.

Leo gave her a curt nod. ”That would be a lot of fun if we fought.” The blond student made a pondering look, before gesturing in to direction of the Gym. ”You know, if you want to practice before the tournament, I’ll practice in the Gym with you. They let people fight in there.” It was a suggestion, but based on the uncertainty the girl held, he wasn’t sure she’d take him up on his offer. To be honest, he’d love to get some practice in. Though, most rather spend time practicing in the gift mastery class.

"R-really?" She had wanted to practice, but there wasn't exactly a non-murderous person to practice with, and she didn't even know what to expect. Well, besides nothing. However, this might just be a good offer to take up on. She stood up slowly, looking towards him with a slight smile. "Th-that'd be great..." What'd she have to lose? It was only practice, after all.

Oh? She wanted to? ”Awesome!” This way they both could get some practice in outside of the gift mastery class. When would they do it, however? Leo scratched his cheek in thoughtfulness. ”When would you want to do it? Before the tournament or now?” He asked, before thinking to himself, ’Or both…?’ But it was all up to Grace to decide. It was really her he suggested training for. As far as he knew, there wasn’t anything he could practice with his power besides his wings. Which came natural to him.

Well, it would probably be best to do it beforehand. But here? Grace looked around surreptitiously, but no one else was in the area, or at least in sight. Maybe it would be safe here. "M-maybe we should practice here... B-before the tournament, a-anyway." He would practice flying then, wouldn't he? That would probably draw attention. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea... But she didn't want to go back on what she said, so she just nodded in what she hoped looked like reassuring confirmation.

Leo leaped to his feet, the bright smile continuous on his face. "Let's practice now, then." The angel boy held out a hand for the girl to take, in order to help her up. What would he help her train with? It was a defensive power as far as he could tell. Perhaps a shield? Or even some kind of armor! The darkness liked to move around her hand and all. Maybe she could make the darkness solid? It seemed

Grace gently took Leo's hand and allowed him to help her up, clutching her wrist once their hands departed. "H-how are we going to do this?" What kind of training they'd do, she didn't know. Maybe she was supposed to know already, but she obviously had no idea; otherwise, she'd actually be worth a damn. She looked at him shyly, forcing herself to keep eye contact. That was important.

Leo made a thought full face. Defense, right. So maybe a shield? "Can you get your darkness away from your hand? Like a shield?" From what she said, she couldn't but perhaps if Grace can move the darkness away from her hand, that would be a good start. He tilted his head down to look at the darkness there should be more to the power.

"I-I can try." Sticking her arm out in front of her, Grace desperately concentrated on the darkness dancing on her arm, trying to force it towards her hand. Some of it began encircling her hand, and though she tried to push it out, all it did was just form a kind of semi-protective sphere around the hand, unable to make it a more external thing. A small frown of frustration formed on her face.

"Hm..." The blond began to ponder. Perhaps it needed to stay attached to her hand. The blond held up his hand as if he was telling someone to stop. "Try having it connect to the palm of your hand. Try having it flat too." He suggested to the dark haired girl. Leo knew next to nothing with her power, however was trying his best to help her out.
