Round 3: Kayla Croft vs. Hosa Corvina

Hosa had taken refuge in the oncoming storm clouds. Every flap of her wings had drawn them closer, so it hadn't taken long for her to reach them and now was doubling back toward where she had left Kayla. Every flap of her wing sent lightning crackling though the sky, which she hoped was hiding the beating of her wings. Every once in a while her head would dip under the cloud layer for just a second to get her bearings before going above the clouds once more. Soon, she was back where she started and found herself above the ally here Kayla had been hiding - or still was hiding by the looks of it. She ended up circling it, waiting for the moment that Kayla stepped out of the alley way and she could attempt to attack her.

The magnetized scrap metal joined in the air, seeming to weld itself together in a makeshift shield as big as Kayla herself. She glanced up to the dark clouds as they rolled over the street, the storm wind stirring her clothes, thunder booming in her ears, and stepped out of the alley.

All along the road, the lights of the streetlamps went out in a shower of sparks and shattered glass. POPPOPPOPPOPOPPOP. They pulled themselves free of the concrete, blue currents running up and down the length of the steel. Kayla braced herself for an attack, her hand slipping into her pocket, whips of electricity coursing along her shoulders. Now where are you...

There! Hosa eyes narrowed when she saw Kayla step from the alley and into the street. She didn't care about the metal shield she had - it wouldn't protect Kayla from her. Turning herself around in the clouds, she watched as the lamp posts pulled themselves free, and she let out a soft sigh. She would have to hope that this would work. With another good flap of her wings to send herself slightly higher into the air, she then folded them at her sides to dive forward.

As she broke though the clouds behind Kayla, rain followed - pelting the street full force as a storm started to brew. Hosa threw her talons out in front of her, her eyes glimmering as she hoped to strike Kayla from the back before she had time to react. Sooner or later, she would going to get a blow on Kayla that she couldn't dodge. Like, seriously, she had done no damage to Kayla. It was kinda stupid. Anyways, her talon's were not just looking to crush Kayla to the ground - but going for the kill. She was tired for this fight, and wanted it to end.

The wind snapped and tugged at her clothes, howling in her ears, and icy droplets began pattering against the concrete, carried by the sudden gale. She could feel a cold kiss of rain against the nape of her neck, and feel it run down her back in rivulets.

The storm. Kayla whirled around, electricity rippling down her arm. Hosa was swooping down from the clouds, diving with her talons outstretched. No time to dodge, no chance to attack back... This is it. She gave a bitter half-smile, with her arm whisking through the air mid-twirl. Her shield wasn't held out toward Hosa, but to her left, facing the side of the street.

The street lamps went crashing into the buildings, either blasting through the brick walls, or spearing through the cars lining the side of the road. More explosions rang out through the battlefield, sending up plumes of smoke, flame, and red dust.  Shards of metal as sharp as daggers went flying into her shield, thrown out by the force of the blast. Would that be enough to stop her, even for a second? Kayla wasn't sure; she could only stare Hosa Corvina down as she came plunging in for the kill.

Hosa's eyes quickly followed the streetlights as they went flying to the side, confused for the split second until they exploded. She would of squawked, but she was to busy already attempting to block out the pain that was about to hit her but it didn't stop it hurting like hell. The fragments of metal sank into her skin sending blood everywhere, but her wing was able to take the most of it from keeping the bigger shards hitting her stomach. Even the splitting pain however didn't make her waver from her course as she came barreling down on Kayla. Kayla might of got the most hits in, but it looked like Hosa was going to get the single one that counted.

Hosa's talons went crashing into her, crushing her toward the ground, piercing through skin and muscle. She gave a strained gasp for air, almost like a sigh, as she was shoved into the pavement. Blood trickled from her mouth, her pupils dilating, and the magnetized shield went clattering to the ground. Dying currents ran across her arm, already dimmer and slower than they had been before, and Kayla's breaths were shallow, ragged, quick. A dark stain spread across her stomach where her talons had pierced into her, clutching her, keeping her pinned down, crushing her with all her weight.

Kayla's hand had fell out from her pocket from the moment of impact. There was a coin resting sitting perched on her fingers.

Like hell she was just going to lie down and die... she had to keep fighting, until her last breath, or else it'd feel like she'd just given up. Being this stubborn, clinging onto life—it was her last "fuck you" to Hosa before the simulation ended. Even if this didn't kill her, she wanted to make her remember the pain.

It was point blank, and Hosa's fat feathery body was sitting right there in all its peacock glory. It'd be weak in her condition, but it could still pierce through flesh and bone like a bullet. That was all that mattered.

She flicked the coin with the last of her strength, and one last dim flicker of electricity leaped out to kiss the quarter as it fell.

Hosa would of gritted her teeth if she had any when she pinned Kayla to the ground when she saw that the simulation didn't end. She didn't want her fellow Autumn to be in pain but...What was she going to do. Her glowing eyes flickered sadly before a faint movement caught her eye. Her gaze flickered over to see Kayla pick up the coin with the last of her strength and Hosa's eyes widen.

Dammit.

She couldn't move all the way to get out of the way, but once again her wing - the one that had taken the least damage - flew up to protect herself as her head ducked as the coin was sent flying forward like a bullet. Pain seared though her wing as the coin cut though it, causing her to squawk as blood splatter from the new wound that hurt like hell. It was a very effective 'fuck you' in light of it all.

Her wing quickly fell to the ground as pain seared though her body as she stared down at Kayla with pain-filled eyes. She didn't extactly want this whole thing to happen - she would of been happy fighting anybody other then Kayla...Well, maybe not Regina...Either way, she hadn't wanted to go toe to...Talon with her, but fate had decided it so. But now? Now Hosa was slightly ticked off with the whole - fill her full of small but very painful holes thing.

So, with an angry snort she took a step backwards to pull her talon from out of Kayla. This would be her own version as she stopped blocking the wound and knew that Kayla would soon bleed to death. She would of gone to human form but...She really didn't want to see the damage her arms had transferred over so she ruffled her feathers as a cold rain pelted the both of them as she stared at the dying Kayla.

She thought about saying something to her, but decided against it as she held her bleeding wings to her body. She doubted Kayla would care for any words that Hosa had to say. A soft shutter ran though her body as she looked up at the sky, waiting for the simulation to stop.

It was a victory, but it was a hallow one that Hosa wasn't completely proud of.
