| The whir of the engine was loud, almost loud enough for Aleta not to notice the pilot beckoning the group to begin to jump. Eyes wide, she made her way to the door to look out at the ground below. They were pretty high up! Even if she had wings, it was too tall for her. She hadn't really used her wings before, and it was cause for some worry. Biting her lip, she let the supplies and her change of clothes fall. With a hesitant glance back at her group, the girl leaped out. Needless to say she was terrified. Frightened so much, she barely got her wings out when she hit the ground. Her wings cushioning the fall a fair amount, yet pain still shot up her legs when she landed on the ground. What had the pilot said? Roll? Oh. Well. A bit late for that.
Hesitantly getting to her feet, she put her wings away and limped towards where her luggage landed. Aleta wasn't too sure if she had just sprained it, or if it was fine. All she knew was that if it was something worse, it would not be a fun time. Once she reached her bags, the Spring student began to look through the supplies, mildly surprised that they hadn't given them more. Once she saw her tent, the girl paled. This was a small tent! With the number of people in this group... The young girl sighed unhappily. Damn her brother for signing her up, and nagging her to go on this field trip. Zipping the supplies back up, Aleta stood there waiting for the others to get together. Of course she was going to give it to someone else. Like hell would she be the leader of the group!

| Deep blue eyes flickered restlessly from behind uneven bangs, from Jace to the pilot to the window to Jace again, and when he shouted for them to jump, she froze up like a deer in headlights. Jump. Yeah, just jump, from a moving plane, into the middle of the woods. Okay. Easy. Easy-peasy. So easy that she hardly noticed that she was next up to leap after Aleta leaped out into the snow. The plane teetered slightly as the wind swirled inside through the open door, and Evelyn flinched, looking a shade paler than normal as she glanced out into the wilderness from over her scarf.
Okay. This wasn't a big deal. She'd gone to Nepal and survived a yeti, and a crazy guy with a gun, and she'd managed to get to class on time without getting eaten by a giant plant on Easter, and she'd been stalked by a werewolf a couple times and hadn't died yet.
This wasn't so bad after all, right?
Desperately wishing that she had something to drink, Evelyn clenched her eyes shut, stood up in the plane, and leaped out into the swirling snow.
For one beautiful moment, with her coat flapping behind her, Evelyn White had wings. And then she crashed to the ground with all the grace of a cinder block. Had it not been for the convenient heap of snow just below her, she would've went bouncing along the ground, but instead she had a nice (somewhat) fluffy landing. Like landing in a pile of pillows, if someone had stuffed half of the pillows full of marbles.
What she was getting at was that landing shoulder-first in a snow drift after flipping out of a moving plane kinda fucking hurt. Evelyn gave out an undignified yelp as she went spilling over the snow bank, sending up a white flurry of powder. Her purple beanie that her grandma had knitted for her, patterned with white snowflakes, went flying off her head to God-knows-where, carried off by a vengeful wind. When she finally tumbled to a stop, her gloves were full of ice, her bag had slipped off her shoulders and onto the ground, and she was laying facedown in a carpet of powdery snow.
It wasn't worth it trying to stand up. She just laid there, lamenting her misfortune, and waited for the others to come leaping out.

| Matthew looked out of the plane after the girls had jumped. His face completely drained of color. If there was one thing he was afraid of it was heights. He gulped and took a deep breath. He grabbed his luggage and finally jumped. It wasn't a long fall, so he quickly tucked himself into a roll. He landed flat on his back, completely winded. He laid there for a few minutes catching his breath. He got up and noticed one of the girls limping. 'Injuries are something we don't need on a surival trip!" he thought. He looked up at the plane and waited for the other members of his group. | |

| Heron gazed out of the open door without so much as a flicker of worry on his face. He'd watched the three students fall rather ungracefully, more worried for them than himself. He looked back into the plane to see his backpack sitting next to the pilot. Throwing it out into the Alaskan air, the Winter watched it fall for a few seconds, then land on a snowdrift with a soft thump. He couldn't hear it over the sound of the plane, though. He took a step over the edge and disappeared.
He was still there. It wasn't much better being the air itself than standing in it, the chill making him want to shiver violently. Air-Heron, or Aeron if you're lazy and don't want to say the whole thing or just really like nicknames, flew to the ground in a matter of seconds. He reappeared a foot off the ground, farther than he had intended and stumbled as he landed. The boy still remained on his feet, however, and mentally took roll. Three on the ground, not including himself, and one still on the plane.

| As the five of them uniformly moved towards the open door of the plane, Jace couldn't help but continue to stare outside, down at the steep drop into the snow. The more he stood there, the more he looked, and the longer he looked, the more terrifying the jump seemed. He had to laugh nervously to himself then, wondering whose brilliant idea this was. Was spending a week starving in the wilderness not a big enough thrill on it's own? They had to break their own legs while they were at it? And of course he had to be the last to jump... Because Ebs is slow. ;A;
Thankfully, the pilot didn't give him too much time to stare longer. The young man put one foot forward, the front of his shoe hanging over the edge and held his breathe. As soon as the man said the word, he jumped, giving no thought to it. He'd grabbed the straps of his backpack instinctively, lest some of their valuable supplies go flying, breaking on the ground or getting stuck in a tree - or something else that matched up with their luck on these sort of trips. His stomach quickly grew sick from the jump, he could scarcely breathe, but before he knew it he was already hitting the ground, falling through the snow with an awkward roll.
He was slow sit up then, letting out a quiet groan and brushing the snow out of his hair. "Is everyone alright?" Jace called out.

| No, was her first thought, but of course she didn't say that out loud. Trying to say anything in this crowd of strangers would just make her look like an idiot. If she was being honest with herself, she wasn't equipped to handle anything like this at all. She'd never really gone camping before, really. Something her mother always said about it being dangerous. After the... less-than-cordial meeting with her parents not that long ago, signing up for a dangerous survivalist field trip had seemed like a thrill. The idea of rebelling, like most of Evelyn's ideas, was less exciting in practice.
Now she was out in Alaska, with three people she didn't know, her boyfriend, a small tent, and no food or supplies outside a few blades and a shaving of flint. They weren't exactly the best prepared for this.
Evelyn crawled onto her knees, brushing the snow from her face with the back of her gloves, and sighed. "F-fine..." she murmured, harshly loud enough to be heard.

| Aleta tested her food on the ground, and only flinched when she first touched the ground. Soon the pain drifted away, and she could put her full weight on it. With her pack of clothes on her back and the supplies in her hand, she made her way to the taller boy, Jason? Was it? The younger girl wasn't sure, everyone was a stranger to her. Lips pressed together, she held up the pack by the strap. Aleta wasn't too sure what to do with it, and didn't want to be the one in charge of handing out tools and delegating responsibilities. She was more of a follower than a leader. Which was fine for her, as she didn't want to be held responsible when something went wrong. Besides, he was the oldest, right? The younger girl didn't meet the boy's eyes, instead opted to glance at the another student. She thought his name was Matthew. Then again, she was never sure. | |

| Matthew caught the eye of the girl who had most of the supplies that the teachers had given us. It was obvious she didn't want them, but then again neither did he. He wasn't a leader. Hell, he didn't even know why he signed up for this trip. He didn't know how to survive! he guessed because he wanted the experience, maybe he could learn more about his powers. But he wanted to say something so he spoke up. "So.. uhh.. who wants step up and be the 'leader'? he asked nervously.

| Stretching in the cold air, Heron casually crossed his arms. The large furred jacket and scarf did their jobs well at keeping out this ridiculous cold. Everyone had landed and the plane was now flying off, soon disappearing into the distant clouds. When the younger boy spoke, the student stopped staring after the departing aircraft and asked himself the question. Who would lead this ragtag group of teenagers through this week of frozen hell?
Just by name, he thought the tall blond would make a good choice. If he was, by chance, their headmaster's son, maybe he'd have leadership qualities as well. If no, Heron wouldn't be shy to offer up himself. Being the shortest boy was giving him a case of Bonaparte syndrome, just hopefully without the leading-them-into-a-trench-and-dying part.

| Jason finished brushing the last off the snow off of him, although it hadn't been on him long, the weather already have him near shivering to the bone. Perhaps he'd packed too lightly, he thought. Either way, it was easy to tell - even in that first few minutes - it was going to be a really long week. He'd hardly noticed at all when one of the girls in the group, the angel looking one, walked up to him and held the backpack straight ahead of her, looking the other way - and seemingly expecting him to take it. Without much else of a choice, he did just that, setting it on the ground and peering into the bag of supplies.
"Is that a serious question?" The young man glanced up at Matthew. He was a Winter, wasn't he? In fact, most of the people here were Winters. Him, Heron, and Evelyn too - whatever had happened to her. His gaze had looked right over her several times and he'd hardly even noticed. Either way, you'd think that they'd have come up with a survival plan before they'd so much as stepped on the plane... If not...
He was never really one for leadership, not quite like his father was. Sure, he could step up to the plate if things came down to it and boss people around, but he would hate it. Such huge responsibility really wasn't his cup of tea. "If no one wants to be it, maybe we can take a more democratic approach?" The Autumn suggested lightly with a shrug.

| She could see the way everybody was looking at Jace. Expectantly. Waiting for him to take charge and start giving orders so none of them had to. Evelyn was looking at him the same way, but she knew him well enough to realize how much he'd hate that. That didn't stop her from staring. If not him, then Heron, or Matthew, or really, anybody except for her.
Evelyn frowned at the suggestion, glancing back down into the snow. Democracy, huh? Democracy wasn't useful for much in a group like this, and a vote would amount to little more than everybody shouting "NOT IT!" Maybe they could draw straws. Just get the vote done before we get eaten by a grizzly bear.

| Aleta took a few steps back once Jace took the bag from her. This was a teamwork trip, so she knew that she would have to put away any paranoia that she had and work with the other students. With a glance around the clearing it was obvious that the oldest boy was the one who was going to lead them. She surely wasn't going to, and another student had already voiced his opinion on it. So it seemed that he didn't want to be leader. Puffing her cheeks out, the Spring student gave the oldest a pointed look. "I gave you the supplies, so my vote is for you." No one else seemed to be gung-ho about taking the position anyways. | |

| Matthew nodded in agreement. "You look the part. Why not take it?" he said, crossing his arms. | |

| Heron shrugged, arms still crossed. He'd be fine with anyone as leader, just as long as they stayed alive. A rustle in the forest behind him caught his wary attention and he stared at the area while speaking, not taking his eyes off the forest. "Well, it's not too important to figure out now. We should ensure we live first. Shelter, water, food, etcetera. Not that I'm trying to boss anyonee around." No more sounds came, but he still unconsciously moved away. A large shiver shook him and the boy seemed to retreat into his coat. | |

| An look of pure exasperation crossed the young man's face. So, they were all throwing their complete trust his way simply because he just looked the part? That was it? Jason let out a huff, watching the cold turn his breath into icy wisps in front of him. He thought that he'd heard something in the forest as well, glancing off in the direction of the sound. There was nothing to be seen from his eyes as well, and he quickly dismissed the thought.
He glanced around the group, taking Heron's words to heart. But where to start? The only person in the group who had a somewhat useful gift on this trip was Aleta, but what could the rest of them do that would make this trip more bearable that a normal person couldn't? The way he saw it, pretty close to nothing.
Jace frowned, standing up and slinging the heavy bag over his shoulders. "This should be a good place as any to camp, I suppose. Aleta, can you fly up and look for a river? Or a pond? Or anything useful?" He asked the girl, turning to the other boys, "And you two can start looking for food?" He glanced around the clearing, looking for something to hopefully shelter them from the wind. "And I - I mean - shit - We'll set up the tent and try to get a fire going." He winced from the small mental jab to his temple.
