Oooh Now What Could This Be?

Brailynn frowned, seemingly a bit confused, "You, if you wanted too - you could, say, walk right through that wall right there?" The young woman asked slowly, pointing to the wall aside her with her thumb. And what did he mean when he said you can't control it? She paused and looked the other way, though, when the questions turned on her. "I can control the wind. And the earth too." There was a somewhat a look of pride on her face before it was overshadowed by a bit of sadness. "No one believes me, though. So I guess I'm lucky I'm here." She knew she could. She had before, but those times had been so long ago she was starting to doubt her gifts herself.

Richard shrugged his shoulders as he studied the wall. It was honestly a little terrifying to see what went on inside walls when he went through it, and because he couldn't exactly control when he wanted to phase, he was pretty scared he was going to get literally stuck in a wall. But it was entirely possible. "Yeah, I guess I could walk through it. Although I'm still not that great at controlling my ability. Usually it just kind of happens by itself if I'm about to run into something or if something is about to run into me," He said casually as her comment about her own powers suddenly confused him for a moment. He hadn't heard of anyone having two abilities. He didn't really even think it was possible, but it was pretty obvious is was because the evidence was standing right in front of him. But he did doubt her for a moment even though he could tell she was being sincere. "That's awesome! Two powers? You're lucky! Esepcially when it comes to earth and wind. I'm sure that's a lot more useful than phasing."

Brailynn forced an uneasy smile and looked up at him. Wait, did he actually believe her? "Oh, yeah. Lucky." She gave a weak chuckle, her voice trailing off into a low mumble. "Maybe... I don't exactly remember how to..." The girl crossed her arms. She didn't want to keep going, and was honestly much more interested in him instead. Seriously. So, If she just punched him right now, and he didn't see it coming, would her just go through him or something? Well, it was something she was strangely tempted to try, maybe later - though, when the two of them weren't strangers anymore. "Is that why you seem nervous about it? Controlling it?" She wondered aloud, having noticed how he stared at the wall - or how anxious he was when he shut the door back then. "Do you think you can still show me?" She asked, curiosity shining brightly in her eyes.

When she stepped outside and into the courtyard, the initiate did a little twirl on her toes. Why was she walking around dealing with stupid, dusty rooms anyways? Brailynn hadn't realized what a beautiful day it was. "Okay." She turn to face Richard, a brighter smile on his face this time around. "You're an outdoor-sy person, aren't you?" She inquired, leaning back on her heels.

He quickly raised an eyebrow as Brailynn suddenly returned the conversation back to him. He wasn't really one to talk about himself much, but then again he wasn't really given the opportunity to do so. But he could tell she didn't like talking about herself either. As she asked him about showing her his power once more, he simply stuck his hands into the front pockets of his pants and shrugged. "Yeah, I guess I could. I mean, whenever I can." He then continued to follow her into the courtyard until she turned around and asked him about being.. outdoors-y? He couldn't really say that he was very outdoors-y, but he did like spending at least some time outside every day. One of his favorite pass-times being just a game of catch. He wasn't very sports-minded, but it relaxed him. "Uh, yeah. I guess I am. Why?" he asked, tilting his head slightly and giving her a curious look. He couldn't exactly read her at the moment. Was she and outdoors-y person? Given her gifts, she probably was, but everyone was different.

The initiate let out a small grin, "Sweet. I'm going to hold you to that." She said, her words were obviously teasing, but you could tell she took it seriously. The young woman walked backwards for a few moments before hitting an amazing tre`e and sliding down against the trunk, getting comfortable on the ground and motioning invitingly to the spot next to her, if he wanted too, that was. She had forgotten about the dirty room at this point, so his duty was done. "Just wondering; you don't seem like the time to sit around playing on x-box all day." She shrugged, pausing for a few moments longer before looking back up at him through the corner of her eye, hiding from the sun behind her hat and hugging her knees up to her chest. "Thank you, by the way..." Brailynn said lightly. Now that she could concentrate and get a decent look at him, Richard was rather handsome - with that thought, though, she quickly darter her gaze away.

"Oh, alright," he replied in response to her telling him that she would pretty much make sure he showed her his power. He didn't really have a problem with it, but he just didn't want to end up making a fool out of himself even though he had just met her and he was sure that it would be fairly easy to avoid her if he were to mess up bad enough in which he would have to do so. But she seemed too nice to just walk away from. Without another thought, he quickly took a seat beside her and shrugged back at her next statement. "Eh, I'm not really an X-box type of guy. It's cool and all, but my life isn't spent on it." Although one of his best friends back at home was. That's all they pretty much did when they hung out, but he didn't care very much. It was a cool experience even though he kind of sucked at video games. Yeah, there wasn't a hole lot he was really good at. Then suddenly, she had thanked him which actually surprised him. He had no idea what she was thanking him for or why. "Uh, what for?" He asked curiously, hoping there wasn't something he had missed in the conversation.

Brailynn smiled a bit in petty triumph. Although it was obvious he was a bit uncomfortable at the prospect of using his power, probably because the question of control, she honestly couldn't help but stay curious and wanted to see first hand how it worked. And no, silly. She didn't want to wait until Gift Mastery to see him at work... If she even wanted to go back to that class at all, after what happened to her and that other girl. Barret, that douchebag. The young woman hugged her legs tighter as he took the spot next to her, peering at him curiously from the corner of her eye. "Oh, alright." She said, her voice light, trying to search for something the two of them might have in common. She wasn't glued to her family's consoles either, but she was decent on what she played. What else was there to ponder...? "Long-boarding? Baseball? ... Parkour?" Lynn offered, looking at him hopefully. She suddenly looked a bit embarrassed, laughing lightly and rubbing the back of her neck. "Oh, for running into me I guess and being awesome..." She said lightly. Well, more for dragging her away from the dirty room and not making any seriously rude or stupid comments - but she figured that'd be awkward, for her at least; what she said, she thought was better.

"Oh, uh.. you're welcome!" He said, blushing slightly. By that, I mean, his cheeks turned a little pink but he didn't really feel like he was blushing. Although, he quickly went back to the subject of things he liked or what they had a common interest in. There are to be something that they both liked. Wait, baseball? "I actually do play baseball. I used to play it a lot up until a few years ago. I had to stop playing one season after I got knocked in the head by a ball and got a concussion." He laughed, a little embarrassed by his situation given his ability, but he wasn't afraid to share his story of how he was brought into not playing at school or in recreation in general. It was strange, actually, because that's how they had discovered his powers. After he had gotten hit with the ball, he wasn't much into catching anything and one day while attempting to play catch with his father, he wasn't able to get his glove up fast enough, but instead of hitting him on the head again, the ball simply glided right through him and landed on the ground. It was a moment of both relief and terror as he nearly relived the reason he had to quit the season, but like other fears, it had passed, even if the reason for him was because he couldn't ever really get hit with another ball. But hey. Any reason is a good reason. He played baseball again for a little bit until he was brought to this school.
