These Lights [Open]

It was late into the evening. The sun was completely set, and the warmth it provided went with it leaving the cool evening air in it's place. The stars were shining brightly above, but it was kind of hard to see standing in the middle of the Festival area with the various lights the whole thing gave off.

Sophia was walking along a path that lead to various game stalls, and rides. To her it was simply amazing. The lights, the general enjoyment that filled the air. It was all great to the spring girl. Sophie at the moment was dressed in a gray t-shirt with some design on it, with a solid cyan colored skirt, that ended a couple inches above her knees. The girl was wearing some black stockings to keep her legs from getting cold in the chilly wind. A blue jacket sat loosely on her arms, and shoulders. Well the jacket was slipping off of one shoulder because the girl didn't have it zipped up. She also wore soft black gloves this time to match her outfit.

Sophie didn't pay any mind to the people she passed. He amber eyes were to focused on the pretty lights of the festival ground. She wanted to go on a ride, but she wanted to make sure she saw everything first, and take in what she considered a beautiful sight. She made sure to eat some of the festival food later to see if it reminded her of the fair food she had anytime the fair came to town, when she was back at home. The girl stopped at one of the game stands to look at the various stuffed animals they offered as prizes.

Brisk wind made Sean wish he brought a pair of gloves, just something to warm him up a bit more. He was wearing his normal t-shit and jeans with his blue jacket put over. Blue eyes gazed over the many games and rides that were set up attracting a lot of people. Sean was never a big fan of fairs because he could never win the stupid stuffed animal. Funnel cake and kennel corn smelt delicious, his stomach grumbled as he passed the different festival foods.

The games looked exciting, tons of kids were lined up to go on rides and win prizes for their dorms. A girl was standing in front of a toss-the-ball-at-the-pins game, deciding weather she should play or not. The blond walked up to her with a friendly smile on his face, "Would you like some help winning the game?" Sure he was never good, but he could give it a try.

Sophia turned around at the voice that seemed to be talking to her. She looked at the person as to where the voice came from and discovered that it had come from a blonde headed boy. As she studied him for a short amount of time, she decided that he was cute. "No. I'm just looking at some of the prizes. I was never able to win one of these things before so there isn't a point in trying now." She said to him giving him a smile.

"You are free to try if you want to." She said to him taken the chance to study the boys appearance a little more. He was a few inches taller than her. Which she didn't really care about height differences. She pulled the kind of big jacket back onto her shoulder that it was slipping off of. It was bound to fall off again, but she didn't care.

Sean didn't know why he offered to play a game for her, perhaps it was to finally get a friend, he didn't know. The blond gave two bucks to the vendor and received three balls. 'Alright, I only have to knock down three pins...' Setting the other two balls down Sean threw the ball as hard as he could, barely knocking off the top pin. "I got one!" He took another ball from the floor and aimed for the bottom two pins missing both of them. The blond looked back at the intrigued girl, 'I have to get these.' He took the last ball and closed his eyes, the ball went flying towards the pins, a satisfying hit allowed Sean to open his eyes. The boy was surprised, he looked back up at the girl standing beside him, "You can choose the stuffed animal you would like." A big grin appeared on his face, perhaps it wasn't going to be such a bad night after all.

The girl was honestly kind of surprised. She never expected the boy to get a prize on his first try at the game.. Normally it took a good many tries.. Well it took her a good many tries.. She was never able to win at any of those things. They were always rigged in some manner. "Oh thanks." She said then looked at the prizes again. A soft smile grew on her face. "I'll take the.. uh.." The girl paused for a moment. "The shark!" She exclaimed as she finally came to a decision. The vender went and pulled off the stuff animal and handed it to the girl. She took the shark, and held it in her arms. Sophie turned towards the boy, and gave him a smile. "So what is your name?"

The boy was glad he won the game, even happier that he could win it for someone else. He was shocked he won but tried not to show it, considering he never wins at the games. Maybe after they could walk around and she could show him the festival, perhaps even a ride. A smile appeared on the blonds face, happy he was making a friend. Sean looked back down at the girl, "My name is Sean. What is yours?"

"My name is Sophia, or Sophie." She told Sean. "Either works for me." She held her shark plush closely. She didn't exactly know what she would do with it when they were on rides. Amber eyes looked down at the plush. "Sharkey needs a name." She looked back up at the boy, and gave the boy a questioning look. "Any suggestions?"

Sean looked back down at the grey shark that was sitting his Sophia's arms, "I guess you can call him Mr.Bubbles, or Fredrick." For some reason those were the two names that came to Sean's head when he looked at the little shark. He gave a silly grin to the amber eyes looking at him, it was better to have friends around than to be all alone.

After deciding the name of the plush the two started to walk away from the booth. "So, is there a ride you would like to go on?" He said looking up at the many rides that towered over them.

Sophia thought about the two names Sean had given her. "Fredrick it is then." Fredrick seemed more fitting than Mr. Bubbles.. It would make more sense if it was a name for a whale or a dolphin. Sharks don't really do much with bubbles or anything. She held the shark closly as they started to walk away from the stall.

When he asked, she didn't quite know what she wanted to go on. She wanted to ride something where she could hold on to the Shark now named Fredrick. Amber eyes looked around. Then she noted a ride that she used to ride when she was smaller. It was called the scrambler. Using on of her hands she pointed to the ride. "I want to ride that!" She said with a large smile on her face.

Sean turned to see what the girl was pointing at, "The scrambler?" He recalled going on the ride a few times as a kid with his dad, it would spin so fast there was no way anyone could hold on. The boy gave a friendly smile to Sophia, "This is going to be fun!"

The line was short so the two got on away. Sean stepped up onto the seat and pulled Sophia up. He sat on the far side so when the machine was turned on Sophia wouldn't be squished. The boys smile faded when he heard the short clicks of the ride turning on. The Scrambler started to turn very slowly and gradually got faster. Right before it took off Sean shouted with a big smile, "Hold on!

Sophia followed the boy to the ride, holding onto her shark, Fredrick, tightly. The two patiently waited in the line then they walked into the fence area surrounding the ride to climb on. Sophia gave Sean a thank you smile as he lifted her onto the ride. When the ride started going the Spring put Fredrick between the to of them so that way he wouldn't go anyway. Fredrick would be getting squished between them.

A grin grew on Sophia's face as the ride was finally in full speed. A few giggles of delight escaped the girl. This was fun. She felt a bit disappointed when she started feeling the ride slow down, but they had a lot more rides to cover if they wanted to. Once it was safe to get off Sophia hoped off the ride with Sean and Fredrick in tow. "Where to now?" She asked him.

Sean could barely hold on, it felt as if he was going to fly out of his seat. He held his hand tight onto the seat belt and the other hand on the shark so it wouldn't fly as well. A few quite shrieks of fear and joy came out of Sean as the ride went full speed.

When the machine slowed down slight disappointment and relief flowed over him. It left the blond a bit dizzy but he managed to stay on his two feet. "We should go to the giant swings!" he said as he pointed towards the brightly lite ride. Sean loved the swings, they would fly you up into the air and you could see the entire town and the beautiful fair grounds.

Sophia nodded in agreement for the idea. She loved rides, and she loved the rush she got from riding them all. She needed to make sure she went on that spinning ride that she couldn't recall the name of right now. She also needed to make sure she went on the Ferris wheel by the end of the night. "Sounds good to me, but We need to make sure to go on the ferris wheel before the grounds close." She said to the boy. From the ferris wheel they should be able to see everything at a much slower pace.

Sean nodded, "I agree. The ferris wheel is my favorite ride, especially at night where you can see everything." The two made their way to the line of the swings and patiently waited making small talk until it was their turn to hop on.

Sean strolled to the swing behind Sophia, holding a grin before he slid into his seat. It has been a long time since he has been on the swing ride, but he loved the wind and the bright festival underneath him. When the machine started moving his feet slowly lifted off of the ground causing him to dangle in the air.

Sophia happily followed the boy to the next ride. She didn't mind waiting in the lines. It allowed her to get excited for the ride they were about to ride. Once they were let in to get on the ride, joy filled the small girl. She skipped up to a swing, and checked behind her to see Sean getting on the one behind her. She got into the see, and made sure Fredrick was between her and the seat so he wouldn't go flying out when the ride started. Her smile grew as the ride started on it's way lifting them off the ground, and up into the cold night air. Once it started fast a few giggles escaped her once again.
