Hanging out is more than fun

Jake drove Maggie and Jane over to the Rosebury Festival area. He couldn't wait, this being the first time he had been here. Jake parked his blue Chevy Camaro, and took the keys out of the ignition. He hopped out of the car, like a child at Disney World. "Don't worry, I'll pay for you guys." he gave a smile, really glad they agreed to hang out with him. Today has been a pretty good day.

(might change title later XD and do we have cars? if we r like rich?)

Magnolia exited the car, her nerves making her hands shake. Jake was obviously excited, but her? Not so much. She followed closely behind the small group, wringing her hands. "I'm not eating anything weird." She said, her country accents a little thick. It tended to do that when she got anxious. Maggie didn't pay much attention to Jake's offer to buy their entries, but muttered a quick, "Thank you." because that was the polite thing to do. The closer the group got to the entrance, the more her nerves buzzed, like a beehive had replaced her brain.

OOC: I don't know what the 'official' stance is on cars, but as long as it's yours and you have a license and a place to park it, it should be fine? xD Everything in Rosebury is within walking distance though.

Jane stepped out of the car with a stretch and a beaming smile. This wasn't her first time at the festival, but she couldn't complain, especially with free tickets and a free ride. It'd been too long since she'd just been able to sit in someone else's car. Those were the little things you missed when you were isolated from the rest of the world. "Eating weird stuff is half the point point in going to a festival," she countered as she fell in beside Jake and Maggie.

Jake walked up to the ticket window. "3 tickets please." Within a few moments, he got out of line and handed Jane and Maggie their tickets. "So what shall we do first?" he asked. Today was a good day for him. In the past, he had been known to be a bastard, always hitting on girls. But today, he felt...calm. He didn't necessarily like these girls for their looks, but as friends. Which was very unusual cause Jake never really had any "true" friends. Dam, could Louis's soft, shy ways be rubbing off on me?

Magnolia took her ticket from Jake gratefully, and trailed behind Jane and the boy. The trio had picked a great day to come enjoy the park. With a warm sunshine washing over the fair ground, the autumn air wasn't too chilly. Maggie was glade she was still in her school blouse and skirt. Her cardigan she had on was thick though, so she shrugged it off and tied it around her waist. "Nothing too crazy, I've never been on a rollercoaster." She said, eyeing the coasters that did loops and twist and one that even turned you upside dowm. The girl was terrified to be quite honest but she plastered a smile on her face and trekked on hoping the other two would pick a Merry-Go-Round or something along those lines first.

Some people said she was too pushy, but she'd been ready to be accommodating. He was the man with the money, he could pick how he wanted to spend it. They were both just along for the ride. That was until Maggie spoke. Jane almost stopped dead in her tracks, whipping her head around to look at her, almost incredulous. "What do you mean you've never been on a rollercoaster?" How old was she? She wasn't too short. There wasn't an excuse. "You're joking, right? Please tell me you're joking. You haven't even lived yet." Jane looked to Jake, helpless. "Look at this poor girl. She's in terrible need."

Jake turned around staring at Maggie, then Jane. He gave a exasperating expression. "Never?" he turned his gaze back to Maggie. "Well then," The tall student cracked his knuckles. "we will just have to change that." he said teasingly.

Magnolia could have shrunk to the size of a rice grain and been perfectly fine with it. She hadn't expected her announcement to make such a commotion and could've slapped herself for drawing so much attention. Jane and then Jake spun around to look at her, disbelief flashing in their eyes like lightning. It was almost as if she'd told them she'd actually murdered someone.

"By the time I was old enough to want to ride them, my gift had developed and was in full swing. I didn't really get out of the house after the second grade..." She said, her voice barely audible. The poor girl was blushing a crimson red, obviously embarrassed. Jake's comment registered in her mind and the only thing she could think of was that they were going to take her on the scariest ride first. Suddenly the bright flush on her face drained and her eyes widened. "Just please, can we start small?" Maggie asked, her terror apparent in her voice. Her hands had begun to shake, and it took all her might not to sprout a whole fern from the top of her head right then and there in front of all the bystanders.

"I guess we'll go easy on ya." He said with a teasing tone. He himself had never really been on that many roller coasters, but wasn't necessarily afraid of them. And he didn't want to make Maggie hate him for scaring her, so he wouldn't be a jerk.

Jane pursed her lips, putting a hand on her hip. "What are you afraid of? Dying?" Nobody wanted to get sued. If rollercoasters were dangerous, then people wouldn't set them up in parks. Then again, this was the same school that let you hunt monsters for cash. It probably wasn't smart to bring up that point though. "I say we go big. You have to put yourself out there." What was the point in doing all the easy things you'd done before?

Terror twisted in her stomach, and Maggie dropped her gaze to the ground. The poor girl had never been the assertive type, so if it was big and bad that Jane wanted, that's surely what she would get. Magnolia panicked, looking for the closest ride that seemed the least terrifying.

Off to the left side of the group beside a cotton candy machine was an easy looking ride. People got into small boats, one to a seat, and flew fast around a track while loud dubstep played. At least there were no loops. Realizing her opportunity was coming and going, Maggie grabbed Jake and Jane by the hands and tugged them over to the ride, lacing her voice with excitement.

"Let's get on this one first!" She said, shouting over the loud music as she pulled the two into line. Throwing a giant smile to the both of them, she seemed nothing less and nothing more than utterly ecstatic to get on the small boat-like ride.

In reality, she was internally screaming.

Before Jake could react, he was in line for a ride. Soon enough the trio was on the ride. It started out pretty slow, but got faster and faster. Oh my god. I think I'm gonna be sick. Jake hoped he wouldn't puke, much less on the ride.

That was more like it. It wasn't exactly a rollercoaster, but it was something. Baby steps. If she really wanted to start small, then this was as good as Jane was going to get for now, so she just went along with a smile, falling in line beside them. Maggie seemed excited enough, at least.

After a few minutes of waiting, tapping her foot impatiently as they inched closer and closer to the front, they were finally able to board. She got on after the two of them, climbing into the small car before it went zipping down the track.

Jake looked like death. Maggie looked like Maggie. Jane just threw up her arms and laughed like a maniac.

The ride was slowed to a stop and Jake couldn't believe it was finally over. The student wobbled out of the boat like thing and ran over to a trashcan, throwing up.

Maggie's hands shook violently as they neared the coaster. She boarded, pulling the seat belt's adjustable strap as tight as it would go against her hips. Her hands clung to the bar in front of her, and the ride took off quickly building speed as the coaster car whizzed around the track. Jane threw her hands up in the air obviously enjoying herself as she laughed like a maniac.

Jake was another story.

The boy looked like he was gonna blow chunks at any moment. Maggie turned away, thankful that Jake was seated behind her and not in front. She closed her eyes, and imagined she was somewhere else and not in a cheaply made carnival ride that was probably missing a few screws. Just as she had begun t o enjoy herself, the ride slowed and eventually stopped, a monotone employee's voice sounding over the music speakers asking them to exit to the left.

The second the trio got off the ride, Jake ran to a trash can and emptied his guts into the poor rubbish receptacle. Maggie cringed, and turned to Jane. "Do you think he'll be okay?" She asked, disappointment lacing her voice. She had actually just begun to enjoy herself.
