Knock knock knockin' on 204

The Winter boy took a deep breath before knocking on Dorm 204. It had been a few days since his most recent meeting with Sophia. In those few days, he had done research, but he hadn't found much. He patiently waited for Sophia or one of her dormmates to answer the door.

Sophia was sitting on the couch, drawing in her sketch book when she heard a knock at the door. She wasn't expecting someone. Maybe one of her roommates were? She placed her sketch pad down on the coffee table, and stood. She walked over to the door and opened it only to see Matthew standing there. "Oh hey. I didn't expect you to drop by." She said. She opened the door all the way, and moved out the way to allow him inside. "Come in." Sophia was dressed in a simple t-shirt, and sweat pants. The temperature in the dorm was set at something comfy for the Spring girl, it might have been too warm for Matthew or too cold.

"Yeah I would've given you a heads up if I had known myself I was gonna drop by." Matthew replied. He walked in and stood awkwardly, shifting from one foot to the other. "How've you been?" he asked the girl.

Sophia walked back over to the couch and sat down. "You are welcome to take a seat." She offered. She grabbed her sketch book again, and placed it back in her lap. Taking her a pencil in her hand, she continued drawing. "I have been fine. Trying to fight the cold weather I am not used to. Coming from Southern Georgia to North Dakota is a big change." She said as her eyes focus on the paper in front of her. "How have you been?" She asked not looking up from her book.

Matthew rubbed one of his eyes. "Tired. I've been spending most of my nights in the library or on my computer back at my dorm. I forgot how hard researching something was." he said, taking a seat semi-close to the Spring.

"What have you been researching?" She asked once again her eyes not leaving the paper, but she shifted the notebook around to get a better angle with what she was drawing. Which was starting to look like a forest scene or something. It was a nature thing.

He sighed. "I've been researching stuff about helping you with your gift. I haven't found much of anything." he said sheepishly, looking down at his feet.

"Well I wouldn't think you would find anything. Most information about gifts isn't online, it's in books, family books to be more exact, and I'm the only one in my family with disintegration. My brother never got a gift, and my sister is too young for a gift at the moment. My dad got lucky with earth manipulation.. Mom never really talked about her gift.." Sophia rambled on as she kept drawing. "Honestly it's gonna have to be something we think up ourselves and try. My parents have no clue how to help me. I have already tried talking to them."

He nodded. "Yeah I was looking online for ways to get over fears. But all of those methods seem pretty shitty, in my opinion." he replied.

"What were the methods?" She asked. She honestly felt like she was being rude by sitting here and drawing instead of focusing on her friend. With a sigh, she put down her sketch book once again, leaving open to the page she was drawing on. Carefully she placed down the pencil on top of it so it wouldn't make any extra marks. She didn't want to place it on the coffee table cause then it might get confused with a regular pencil. She shifted in her spot so she was facing him more.

"Just the usual 'Face your fear and you won't be afraid anymore' type bullshit." he replied. He looked at the sketch pad. "That's a nice drawing, by the way." he added.

"I can't exactly face my fear without destroying myself. So that's a no." Sophia said. "And thanks." She stood from her spot, and walked over to the fridge. She leaned on if for a moment before deciding to grab a beer. "Want anything?" She asked.

Matthew nodded. "Sure. Why not, right?" he said, eying the beer in the girl's hand. "Beer's fine, if that's what you got."

Sophia let out a hmm in acknowledgement. She quickly grabbed another bottle from the fridge. Who cares if this was her and Logan's stash? She didn't that was for sure. With a bottle in each hand she walked back over to Matthew and sat down next him, closer than before. She handed him his beer, before she opened hers and took a large swallow. She could hold her beer quiet well. It would take at least five to get her drunk. Now how well would Matthew do?

Matthew nodded in thanks and took a swig of the alcoholic beverage. He hadn't had beer before, but it wasn't nearly as bad tasting as his family had said it was. With a couple more swigs a very pleasant and warm feeling began to spread through the boy. "So uh.. what were you drawing?" he said, trying to get both of their minds off of Sophia's gift.
