Hypnotic Oldies [Closed]

Oh god, she wasn't ready for this. A mission? Why would the school choose her for something important like this. Maybe they're testing me... Maria clenched her fist as they finally arrived at the so called motel. The taxi ride had been horrible, swerving this way and that, she almost puked. Maria always hated New York?. Yes, they have there "upper class" but that was only a small portion of the city. And who was this girl she was paired with? Maria recognized her, vaguely remembering the formal but shrugged it off. They had a mission to do, causing trouble would have to wait till later.

"Finally." She mumbled under her breath. Guess Beata has a tight budget... Was this the best they could do with a motel? Not even a hotel?

Oh my God. This wasn't happening, was it? The place was beyond saving; nobody in their right mind would ever spend the money to repair this shitty hotel. Stepping into the rundown lobby, she wanted to puke. Everywhere, the walls had dents and cracks in them, the place smelt like moldy food, and... were those bullet holes on the chairs? Everything was depressing and gloomy. At least the fat guy could look a little more happy. In an area like this, any little ray of sunshine would brighten the place up.

"Janice Li and Mary Rykers." The names snapped Maria out of here thoughts. What's with those wretched names? She couldn't help wonder why they would need to change their names if coming from a place far away from here. Maybe the person we're looking for has outside sources... Maria shrugged it off. At least they wouldn't be here very long.

The pair walked to the room in silence. It was most likely they were thinking the same thing: What are we going to be walking into? Honestly, there were quite a few options. Either the room would be as ugly and disgusting as the rest of the place, it would actually be somewhat decent; maybe the maids decided at least the rooms should look nice, if this place had any. Or they were going to walk into a gang fight or people having sex. Oh the possibilities were endless. Juliette opened the creaking door and Maria cringed, scared to see what lye ahead.

Great, just what she needed, bed bugs. She shouldn't have expected anything more than the lobby, for her hopes were soon crushed. "I'll take this one." She flung her bag to the bed farthest away from the door. Well, at least it had AC. As if God had heard her thoughts, the air conditioning made a gurgling sound and then slowed to a stop. Never mind then. She gave an annoyed sigh.

"So when do we start?"

The sewers, just what she needed. So far, this mission had been a complete drag. First the disgusting motel, now the disgusting sewers. Listening to Juliette, she tried to sum everything up herself. "Sneak in the museum through the sewer, get evidence of the evil trafficking lady, don't get caught." She mumbled to herself, counting the list on her figures. "Easy enough, right?" Maria added in a sarcastic tone to Juliette.

Touristy? Maria shuffled through her bag, looking for the best outfit until she found the perfect one. It was a white shirt that read: I ♥ NY. Although the style of the shirt was a monstrosity, nothing could get more touristy than this. In the few minutes she had before they were to leave, Maria fixed up her hair and makeup. Yeah, they were going to the sewers, but you never know who you might run into these days. Phone for flashlight and pictures, check. Water bottle, check. "Ready when you are!" The taller student said, everything ready to go.

At least Juliette was someone that tried to keep a happy spirit, or Maria would've gotten no where. The city, at least where they were looked like trash. There was the occasional homeless person and then the occasional "upperclassman". Walking into the museum, Maria recognized almost every piece of old artwork. She assumed that's what happens when you're a part of a rich bloodline; knowing ever  goddamn, boring piece of art and history.

Finally reaching the exit, the two came to an abrupt halt. Turning to Juliette with a grin across her face, she requiped a tranquilizer pistol. Peering out from the side of the wall, she fired. It was a direct hit, sending the guard without a sound. "After you." She replied, the gun disappearing into thin air.

Maria stood watch, keeping an eye out for any unwanted guards while Juliette opened the cover. Here goes nothing... She climbed down the somewhat rusty latter and landed on the sewer floor with a splash. "Ew..." She mumbled and looked around. A rat skirted around her feet and she had a hard time holding in a scream. I'm never signing up for a mission like this again. Just looking at the sewers gave Maria the shivers. What if their was some secret hobo community that lived down here?

Could be worse? Of course it could, but at least now they had some light. Looking around at the creepy walls, Maria gave a disgusted sigh. "After you." She had no idea where to go so it was probably best if Juliette led the way. "How far do you think we'll need to walk?" She asked as they walked. Each step was met with a small splash sound of sewage water and the deeper they got, the stench became worse.

"An hour... Great." She mumbled. Both of them were scared and she noticed Juliette was particularly jumpy. Then again, she couldn't judge, this place was pretty creepy. Hearing an odd splash, Maria came to a halt. "How could I not hear that." Suspense filled the air and she half panicked, wondering what to requip. A gun maybe? No, too loud. Guess she would go with the norm, he double battle axes. In a few seconds after hearing the noise, two weapons appeared in her hand, ready for what ever would come.

Shit. Maria had always thought alligators in the sewers were just myths. Definitely not a myth. She clenched her weapons, bringing them to her side and taking a fighting stance. Even though alligators had somewhat armored skin, she assumed just like any other animal, it wouldn't be that hard to take down. "Running won't do us any good." They'd have to fight it.

She took a step forward, looking the large beast in the eyes. I won't be killed by an alligator. Not here, not now. If Maria was going to die, she'd go down with a bang. Before she could think about how to attack something like an alligator, it gave a low hissing sound and lunged towards her. Half caught off guard, half scared, she tripped over a brick, landing on her back. Maria slammed one of the axe's handle into the alligator's mouth, stopping it's jaws from crushing her skull. Jesus Christ this thing is strong! She had a hard time fighting the beast's strength and craned her neck towards Juliette. "Mind helping me out?" She huffed. Even slamming a pole or dropping a rock on the alligator's head would be enough for Maria to push it off her.

The unbearable weight was soon lifted and Maria could breathe again. Wondering what Juliette had done to get the alligator off of her, she sat up to see a pole skewered through one of the eyes. Guess that will have to do. Standing up, she brushed some dust from her leggings. I won't let anyone ruin my clothes, not even an alligator.

As if venturing through the sewers wasn't enough, but she had to deal with this brute? Now Maria was exceedingly pissed. "You bet I do." With a flash of light, a pistol appeared in her hand. Time to put this thing out of its misery. Lifting the gun with on hand, while the other rested at her side, she pointed the weapon at the giant reptile's head. Still hissing and making a fuss over the pole in its eye, it wasn't going to be an easy target.

She waited for who knew how long until the alligator stopped moving, taking a break to regain its strength. The beast's gleaming eyes met her's, but she didn't budge. Sorry, but I don't give pity for sewer animals. She thought to herself, almost as if the alligator could hear her. With an emotionless expression, she pulled the trigger. Thank God she was a great marks woman, for she hit the gator scared in the face, most likely crushing the skull. The high pitched pistol shot rang through the sewers, scaring anything alive scurrying into their homes.

For a few seconds, the beast thrashed around in shock until all fell silent. The alligator fell limp and slumped into the murky water, a dark red ring of blood surrounded the fallen beast as it sank down into darkness.

Although it was nothing more than a mere sewer animal, the air around them turned solemn and somewhat gloomy. "Well come on, let's get going." Maria turned to Juliet. She wanted to get out of here as soon as possible.

At last! Maria could tell that they were walked towards to remotely fresh air and couldn't wait. Taking a turn the girls stopped in their tracks. Was that, a man? Maria squinted to see a more clear image of the man and once again, she wanted to puke. A rat, another gator, and a snake; what a lovely combo. Was this one of the old ladie's sidekicks? He sure wasn't just some random hobo, that was for sure. Damn, so close yet so far.

Thinking fast, she requiped a mace, not in the mood for a drawn out fight. About to take a swing at the gator, she realized this beast was better trained than the other. The alligator grabbed the maze and held it between its jaws, trying to yank it away from Maria as if it was playing tug of war. Unlike her, this beast had the strength factor. Almost about to loose her grip, a sudden burst of adrenaline, energy, and anger hit the girl like a wave. "No!" She wouldn't be mauled by a guy and his sewer garbage. Lifting up her foot, she used all her might, kicking the gator square in the face. Once her weapon was free, she lifted it above her head and brought it down with full force. The mace crashed onto the alligator's head, crushing the skull. Brains and blood splattered everywhere, but she didn't care. The sewer animal fell limp and Maria stepped over the body, making her way towards the old man.

"That's it." She just needed to get this over with. The mace disappeared. What to requip... Maria wondered to herself. Unfortunately, the rats were fast than her thoughts. A few rats jumped on her arms and dug their claws into her skin. She tried to hold back her pain but it was too much. The girl gave a shrill scream, trying to shake the rodents off, but they were latched on good, digging their tiny claws into her flesh.

Panicking, Maria requiped basic armor. Some of the rats got stuck in the "unreal" armory, blood squirting everywhere from the impaled bodies. Not focusing on her power, the requiped armor flickered in and out of the real world, and with a flash of light, the it disappeared, leaving little dead bodies falling to the ground. Wincing from the pain, she need to do something fast before more came. Thinking fast, a Handheld M2 .50 Cal Machine Gun was soon in her hands and she looked to Juliet. It had been given to her by her father, God knows why, but she kept it around, just in case. "I'd get out of the way if I were you." The weight of the large weapon killed her injured arms but it had to be done.

Putting slight pressure on the trigger, the barrel start spinning and soon, it was in action. The air around them exploded into a deafening noise. Destroyed rat bodies, blood, and tiny intestines flew everywhere. Once she was sure the majority of the rodents were dead, she aimed the gun at the large rat. Bitch. With a single shot, the "queen" rat was dead.

"Now then." The large gun was soon gone and replaced with pistol. Her arms hurt like hell, but now was not the time to show weakness. Walking forward, Maria didn't hesitate and shot the old guy in the leg. "I'm assuming you know who we are looking for," She started, almost standing over the guy. "Or why else would someone be wandering around the sewers, with animals?" Raising a brow, it was a reasonable question. Yeah, there could be some crazy old hobos here and there, but what were the chances that they'd actually run into one just wandering the harbor?

Juliette was right, this crazy old man wasn't worth it. Walking past the knocked out hobo and his massacred army, she follow the girl to where ever they were headed to. No firepower? That took the fun away from everything. "Sure." Maria whispered, still a bit disappointed amd wondering what would be above. Maybe some guards or just an empty room? The possibilities were endless.

Once Juliette was up, Maria hoisted herself up after her partner. Thinking about it now, they had come pretty far. First, the shitty hotel, the the crazy hobo. Each step got the two girls closer to their goal, and Maria bubbled with excitement. Pushing herself out of the manhole, Maria sat on her knees, and gave a sigh of relief, looking up. "Oh shit."

Soon realizing it was a trap, the girl looked behind her to see a figure holding Juliette. No, no, no. It couldn't end like this. There wasn't enough time to requip, so she would need to think fast. One of the guards tried to knock her out the same they did with Juliette, but she was ready. Moving to the side, she dodged to the gun and grabbed it, pulling the guard forward. Giving a swift blow to the ground, Maria stood up a whirled around, pointed the weapon at the solider's head. "Put her down." He seemed like the ring leader, so the others wouldn't interfere if it meant their boss's brains being blown up, would they?

Unfortunately, these guards were prepared. Before she could threaten them anymore, a guard swiftly ran forward and punched her hard in the gut. Coughing up blood, she fell to the floor, hardly able to breathe. Were there any broken ribs? Was all she wondered clenching her stomach. Is this how I'm going to die? The lead solider gave nothing more than a wave of his hand, and someone slammed their boot onto Maria's head. Within an instant, the girl was out cold and being carried off to who knows where.

Thankfully, being unconscious meant you couldn't see, hear, or feel anything. The down side, was you only slowed people down. Slowly opening her eyes, all she saw was darkness. Am I dead?

The pain in her head and her ribs hurt like hell and she was having trouble breathing. Regaining her thoughts, Maria soon realized something was on top of her, and stunk. Using all the strength she had, she pushed the garbage bags off. I'm in a... dumpster?! Part of her wanted to scream, but there must have been a reason. Wait, where was Juliette? And how did she get here? Tons of questions raced through Maria's throbbing head. All was silent outside the dumpster, so she decided to go for it.

Pulling herself out of the horrid smelling bin, she fell to the ground. Damn. Maria rubbed her sore wrists. Letting out a grunt of pain, she clenched her ribs. Great, broken ribs. Just what I need. And possibly a concussion too. Her mouth tasted of blood and the compound lights made her head throb even more as blood dripped down the side of her face. Leaning against the side of a nearby wall, she stumbled forward. There was some commotion off in the distance, and she assumed it was Juliette. Tsk. How rude, leaving me alone in a dumpster.

Hearing footsteps getting closer, she gave a sigh, which was extremely painful. "Try to avoid using guns from now on, the noise they make will alert any guards. We need to be quiet." Fuck it. With a flash of light, a machine gun appeared in the girls hand. She was barely able to stand, much less put up with these goons.

"There's one!" One of the six guards that had ran around the corner, yelled. Some had guns, others with bat like weapons. Attempting to stand up straight, she aimed the gun. Pulling the trigger, she fired. Her aim wasn't spot on, but it was good enough. With in a few moments, all six guards were down on the ground, bleeding to death. The gun soon disappeared and Maria walked on. Passing the guards, one of them grabbed her leg and tried to mumbled something. "Get off me you bastard." She replied bluntly, kicking him in the face.

Continuing on, she followed the shouts of guards. The more she tried to think, the more her head hurt and she had to stop once or twice when the world started spinning. Maria tried to not move while walking, scared she'd end up breaking her ribs, though she knew she needed to move faster. Looking up to the roofs, she spotted Juliette's figure. Shit. Rounding a corner, Maria halted. In front of here was another group of around seven guards. You got to be kidding me! They hadn't noticed her yet and maybe she had time, but would she be able to use such a strong weapon in her state?

Well, she had no choice.

With a flash of light, an RPG appeared in Maria's hands. Hoisting it over her right shoulder, and wincing at the pain, she loaded the weapon. "Juliette!" She yelled. She had one shot, better make it count. Surprised by the girl's appearance, the guards turned around. Noticing what the she had on her shoulder, there was a sudden look of shear horror on their faces. "Get do--" But it was too late. Withing in instant, the guards exploded in a furry of guts and gore. The force from the weapon nearly knocked her over and she was surprised that she kept her balance. The girl's ears rang from the explosion but it was worth it. A small grin of satisfaction grew upon Maria's face as bodies lay in front of her, smoke rising from the burnt flesh.

Clenching her side, Maria fell to her knees. Having trouble breathing again, she leaned over, and coughed up some blood. "We better get going." She managed to mumble. With all the gun shots, another wave of guards was bound to come soon.

Wiping the blood off her mouth, Maria shakily stood up. Turning around, Juliette met her with a cheery smile. Almost a bit too cheery. "Yeah, I'm still alive." She joked, rubbing the back of her neck in a somewhat awkward way. "Now that you're here, we should get moving and find that lady." Looking at her partner's hand, Maria noticed a gun. She must had picked it up from a guard. She shrugged off the idea.

Seeing that Juliette had caught up with her, she turned around, squinting while looking into the distance. "There must be some sort of layer, or place she is hiding." Looking back to Juliette, she wondered what was up. It was very faint, but something was different about the girl. Maybe just shock. Besides, who wouldn't act weird after seeing people being blown to bits? "You look pretty beat up too, but I'm assuming you want to get going?" Every breath hurt like hell and she wondered if even she would be able to make it all the way.
