Round 2: Edward Jackson vs. Jonathan Kent

Edward let out a short laugh. "Nice to see you too, old roomie." he retorted, "But the second round is only the beginning for me." A good part about knowing who you were facing is that you knew their gift. He wouldn't be able to rely on his speed this time. It would be painfully slow, but he might just be able to do it. Besides, he had his bowstaff, and unless Jonno could suddenly project a field of power negation, he could still use his speed until he got close. He cracked his neck as he prepared for the fight, analyzing the field around him, looking for any advantages. "Ready when you are, mate." he mocked in good humor.

There was no way Ed was going to act first. He was too smart for that. He crossed his arms and waited for Jonno to act. He continued to look around the rooftop, analyzing the battlefield. They'd both have to watch the edge of the building. Falling off would mean certain death. Something he could use to his advantage.

Edward tried to dodge the arrows but soon realized that he didn't have his powers. So he could project a field of anti-gift. He rolled to the side and managed to avoid most of them. One of them grazed his arm and left a cut by his shoulder. He grimaced as he rolled to his feet and ran, painfully slow in his opinion, to the door that would've led to the rest of the building had it been a real building. Now it served as a good hiding spot. With any luck, things would play out his way. He grabbed the bo staff from his pocket and extended it, preparing for Jonno's next move.

A quick look around showed that Jonno took the high ground. 'Shit.' he said, knowing that this battle wasn't going to go well. He looked around for any sort of hiding place and realized that there were none. "Dammit." he muttered. Maybe he should wait out Jonno's energy. He couldn't hold the field forever, could he? Everybody's got their limits, and he decided to test the fellow Winter's.

He was waiting things out, so might as well talk. "Bring down the negation field, then we'll have a fight. I won't even use me speed once I get close enough to you." he said. That was the truth, his body basically radiated power negation, even when he was relaxing. "I don't see that happening though, so I'll stick around here, if that's no problem to you, of course." he said, mocking politeness. If he had to, he'd sit here all day, waiting for the moment Jonno either lost concentration or ran out of energy. It would take awhile, too long probably, but he'd become patient over the years. Jonno's experienced something like he had, but not to the same degree. His former dormmate had trained since he had been attacked by Argona's minions, but still, not as much as he had. One had to become patient unless he were to become arrogant. Arrogance was a weakness, and had been eliminated quickly in his mind.

Edward saw the attack coming from a mile away. It was an easy trick to avoid, so he skirted around to the other side when he heard Jonno leap down from the AC unit, careful to be unseen. Rounding the edge of the door access, he ran at Jonno and tackled the boy. It was a risky move, he knew, but he was counting on surprise. It looked as if his former dormmate hadn't reloaded yet, and it takes time to reload a crossbow.

Edward saw the knife and managed to shuffle around enough so it would be a minor stab wound. He grimaced in pain as it entered his body but missed anything vital. Bringing his knee up, he kneed him in the crotch while wrenching Jonno's hand off the knife, leaving it embedded in his back. At least with the knife there he couldn't use it. And it also served to stop the major bleeding. He knew this was a bad move, and he struggled to keep the knife from Jonno's grasp.

Blood spewed from Edward's nose and his eyes watered. The blood sprayed all over Jonno's face as he managed to wrangle his arms free. Holding Jonno's arms down, he returned the headbutt square to Jonno's nose as well. He was a little dizzy as he brought his head back up, but he shook that off quickly. Ed placed his hands on his opponent's shoulders and pressed down so he couldn't reverse the situation easily.

Edward felt some sharp pains in his side as the bolts entered his body. 'Okay, that's it.' he said. In one swift, albeit awkward, motion, he reached back, yanked out the knife from his back with a grunt of pain, and brought it down on the boy's throat, holding it close enough to scratch, but not enough to kill. "One move, and you're a goner, mate." he said, grimacing from the pain. He was lucky he had a high pain tolerance, anyone else would've halted by now.

'Ah shit.' he thought. The arrows continued to pierce his body, causing him a burning and constant pain, but not enough to kill him. Yet. His arms were pinned above his head and he was currently being straddled, but Jonno's neck was bleeding profusely. Switching the blade in his hand, Edward managed to slice at the Winter's wrists and hands, maintaining a solid grip. His slipped free of the grasp after a few cuts had landed and he swung a punch at the boy's jaw, connecting with a solid hit.

The kick in the ribs did what Jonno wanted. A gasp of pain escaped him as he rolled to the side, getting onto his feet and grabbing his bo staff and grabbing Jonno's crossbow along the way as well. He needed to recuperate. He stumbled away to the farthest side away from the boy and painfully removed the bolts from his chest. He tore off his shirt, and ripped a few large strips from it, wrapping his entire torso, halting the bleeding as best he could. He decided it would be better if the battle was equal, so he tossed the crossbow off the side of the building. "No more shooting." he yelled at his opponent.
