It was the hottest day of the year. Nearly every student had sought refuge indoors, for the air conditioning was like a safe haven to these students who had grown used to the harsh winters and chilly nights. All students perhaps, other than Mandy, who had desperately missed the heat in the months she had been at Beata. She, an Arizona-native, had dreamed of weather like this as she had trudged through feet of snow on her way to classes just months before. Thus, while her peers took advantage of the cool cafeteria for their lunch break, Mandy had stationed herself on a bench in the courtyard and began eating her lunch alone.

At first the weather was great, but the longer she sat outside, the more miserable she grew. She silently scolded herself for wearing such dark colors, but didn't bother removing any of her layers in fear of accidentally leaving it when she left; she had a habit of forgetting things.
A bead of sweat developed above her lip, and she quickly wiped it away with the back of her hand. She was an Arizonian dammit, and she was going to sit out here in the heat because it was who she was-- also the warm weather was so fleeting here, she had no guarantee how long this weather would last.
Mandy took another bite of her burger before turning her attention to the scenery around her. It was a shame no one was outside; aside from the heat, it was a pretty beautiful day... She hated that she had to spend it alone.

Rob was alright with the heat. He could deal with it better than others but coming from Canada he was a lot more used to the cold, and the snow. Though he figured the heat was a lot worse in the southern states. When he had stepped outside to go elsewhere on the campus. He could feel the heat on his clothes though he could feel it real well on his eye patch since it was black. Whatever it was just going to be something he would have to deal with.

The autumn prefect decided to take a stroll through the courtyard since there were trees there and there would be shade, it would make his trip a little easier. Shortly into his walk he saw a girl sitting by herself in the sun, and in layers. He approached the girl, and spoke. "Isn't it too hot for all those layers?" He asked the girl in a lazy tone.

The weather didn't exactly affect Dimitris. With his skin constantly being cold, the most bothersome part was how he always seemed to attract condensation out in the heat. That point aside, he just wanted to come to his favorite spot on campus. It so happened to be the courtyard just in front of the fountain next to the plants that looked gorgeous in the summer season. He had come across this area not too long ago and loved sitting out here and taking in the sights, smells, and sounds. It also helped that not many people came out here around this time of day so he was able to privately relax without having to worry about getting in someone else's way or getting into a social situation he didn't want to be in.

As he walked outside, he had a smile on his face, dressed simply in the school uniform. It was really the only thing that he had after leaving most of his stuff back in Greece. He had planned on sitting right where he normally sat to take some time for himself but as he walked out and looked around, he saw that he wasn't alone. Immediately, he had no idea what to do. He didn't really want to turn around but he didn't want to interrupt the two people not too far off that seemed to be enjoying their time out here too. Maybe he could just walk by without being seen. It worked pretty well until his foot got caught on a stray tree root, sending him stumbling across the courtyard for just a second with a loud gasp as he caught himself.

Mandy had been so preoccupied by the greasy contents of her lunch, that she hadn't noticed Robert approaching until he spoke. Upon his word, Mandy's head snapped up and she let out a care-free gust of laughter. "Don't worry they're light layers!" The girl chirped, setting her burger as she pushed her fingers through her crocheted vest and gave the boy a small wave, as if that proved her point. It was ridiculous.

She turned her attention back to her meal, but his words still rang in her head. She laughed and shook her head, turning her attention back to the boy and giving him a glance over. "I'm Mandy." She wiped off the grease from her hands on her shorts with two swift motions, and went to extend it out to the boy just as Dimitris fell down nearly feet from her.

"Ouch!" She grimaced, watching him from her spot on the bench. That had to hurt. "Hey kid, you okay over there?" Her voice carried easily across the courtyard, but she waved her hand at him so that he knew it was her talking.

Rob wasn't effected by her sudden out burst of laughter just keeping his lazy smile on his face, and his question was still a genuine question. "If you say so." Even if they were light it could still cause some issue. Whatever it wasn't his concern, and if she wanted to overheat she could. The autumn boy let out a small yawn. Dang he was already low on energy. He might end up falling asleep at this rate.

His attention was back on the girl as she introduced herself. "Robert, or Rob." He didn't care which, both were fine. He turned to look behind him as soon as she said ouch to see someone on the ground. That must have hurt, though he usually caught himself before that happened to him. A frown crossed his features. "You good?" If he needed to, he would help the guy by using his gift but he really didn't need to waste anymore energy.

Of course they had to see that. He didn't mean to trip. Thankfully he managed to catch himself before he fell, but his stumbling must have still been obnoxious to catch the attention of the two who were talking. He looked back for a moment with worry, his body tensing up at the thought of conversation. With a sheepish smile, he stood up straight but defensively. He didn't want to be a bother to them. They were already talking and here he just fell and interrupted them. "I, uh... sorry," he said shyly. "I okay. No... er, no bother..?" He wasn't entirely sure if what he said was correct. As he stood there with an anxious look on his face, he could feel the water on his skin slowly turn to ice, covering his hands and practically crawl up his arms. It wasn't quite visible but it was quickly becoming annoying.

Athena was too focused on the book The Great Gatsby to notice the busy students scurrying around her. Her eyes hovered over the book with glee and amazement. Her blonde hair glistened as the light peered onto the book she was reading. For a 13 year old, she was very interested with books and sorts, which is why she skipped a grade. As for the book, it got her full and mindless attention. Athena couldn't take her eyes off the book, she was so caught up with. She finally took her eyes off the book to look out the window. "Might as well go outside, it's beautiful out!" She navigated her way through the hallway until she found the entrance outside, reluctantly. She propped the door to go outside and meet the gleaming sun. Her gaze was glued to the book, once again, walking around not paying any attention. Her foot got caught on the side of the bench and she fell hard on the concrete. The book flew and went into a group bushes.
Ouchy. She looked up to find eyes looking down her. This is so embarrassing
