| She could hardly believed what was happening. Yeah, school fights happened. Yeah, they were plain stupid. Breaking up spats around campus was one of the highlights of her new job description. But to fight to death, in the infirmary of all places, over... Who even knew why? What on earth made the three of them come to this? Her hazel eyes narrowed in on the strange girl. "Nobody is dying!" Her words were needle sharp.
In her flash of anger, she'd hardly realized how cold her body was becoming. It washed over her, seeping into her skin and it almost felt like her own blood was burning into poison. Lynn grit her teeth, the awful feeling leaving a bad taste in her mouth, like rotting flesh and iron. It almost made her want to gag. And yet, like any other gift she'd met, she could feel it's dark energy twisting and turning in the pit of her stomach; absorbing what strange power it could for it's own.
Defiantly, the Guardian flexed her free hand, pushing through whatever strange hold had her. She was not in the mood for this, for any of this. Her eyes drifted back to Kayla, ready to strike at any second, hadn't the girl hadn't the sense to move first. 'No!' Instinct commanded her and her gift powered her through. With a brilliant flash, she broke free of the young nurse's curse. In no longer than a few heartbeats, she took a step back, ducking out of the way of the girl's fist and gripping onto the back of her shoulder.
Brailynn leaped forward, shoving Kayla against the wall, her other hand pushing against the small of her back. "You know..." She huffed, having to catch her breath. She hardly used so much of her power at once. "I thought we agreed cheap shots were no fun." She paused for air again, biting down on her lip and digging her nails into the girl's shirt. "Tell your friend to lay off. Again, please."

| Kaya watched Brailynn's counter, with eyes full more of wonder than horror. What was happening? She was so strong. The girl's hand slowly began to sink to her side as she put Kayla in a hold, and when the direction of the action turned to her, she stepped back, tugging at the collar of her sweater. "Do not hurt Miss L," she whispered silently. "She is...hurt already, stop..." Her hands went down to her side, but when she flexed her fingers, there seemed to be a drag of red light that followed behind their movements as they peeked from beyond her oversized sleeves. | |

| Maybe, if she still wasn't reeling from Arbor's barrage, she would've wriggled out of that. Maybe that was just her rationalizing it to herself after the fact. Brailynn had her spun around and pinned against the wall before she could blink, and she felt pathetically frail under her commanding grip. Kayla choked on her curses, spitting out a glob of blood that spattered against the wall. Her eyes were hazy and unfocused, but fuck, she couldn't step between them now...! She could feel the sharp pressure against her spine, all that she needed to keep her held there. Her presence was like a black hole.
Kaya's quiet pleading, just on the edge of hearing, sparked a new fire into her gut. "This isn't any of your business, Lynn," she hissed through her teeth, weak currents flaring around her wrists. Her eyes met Kaya's, and then her voice softened, and she let herself slacken in the Spring girl's hold. "I'm fine."

| The blonde took in a deep breath in, letting it out slowly. Every moment she stood in contact with Kayla was pure bliss, filling every fiber of her being with overwhelming energy. Even with the gross, rusted feeling she could feel creeping on her still, Brailynn was left a little light-headed. It was hard to be stern oddly enough, no matter how dire the situation was. One hand moved up from the younger girl's shoulder, brushing her hair out of the way. The Guardian leaned in closer to her ear. "You're better than this," she whispered.
For half-a-heartbeat, she glanced back at the black-haired girl. Her weariness from her first strike was already faded. It wouldn't take much to send her small body flying across the room, if everything went as well as Lynn imagined it. But that would get them nowhere. Another fight was the last thing that she'd wanted, but if it came to that... She couldn't trust Arbor to stay safer much longer.
"We've filled enough caskets lately," Brailynn sighed, gripping onto Kayla's shoulder again, loosening her grip and giving her the room to turn around, if she really desired. "So everyone steps off now and nobody has to know about this?" Her voice had a pinch of whimsical hope to it.

| Kaya looked long and hard at the newcomer, and slowly, she began to lower her arm, any uncertainty in her face ending with how gingerly the two in front of her acted among each other. Obviously, Kayla wasn't in any danger around this girl. Relaxed hands came up to her braid, but they were immediately pinned to her side.
The jagged, sharp piece of a long-flattened penny was pressed to the small girl's neck, her pale skin indenting like a crater around the sharp metal shard. Arbor held her hands together, her hair a mop, her eyes burning, her chest rising and falling with a newfound freedom in breath. When Kaya flinched, Arbor pressed it closer to her neck. Both said nothing. Kaya's eyes were like an owl's, flicking inspectfully at both Kayla and beside her, at Arbor's arm.

| Be̸tter͞?͠ What the hell did she know? It didn't matter a fucking inch to her if the whole school knew who killed who, but it had to be done. She couldn't just let her go after all this time. How could she act like she knew everything that was going on? All the other caskets Beata had shipped out these past few months were meaningless; who'd miss a rat like her anyways? But her eyes met Kaya's again, and she chewed on the inside of her cheek.
They could settle this another place, another time. Arbor wanted this just as much as her. She knew that much. Next time, they wouldn't be interrupted.
That was her own little whimsical hope. A flash, and the girl sprung back up again, and she had a razor held up to Kaya's throat. The name exploded out of her all at once. "Kaya!" she shouted, newfound desperate strength and Brailynn's slack grip letting her butt backwards to break out of her clutch. Her hand flashed in front of her, fingers cocked, electricity pouring down her arm, but she didn't move.
One wrong twitch and she'd slice Kaya's neck wide open. Her face contorted in a snarl. "You bitch, I'll kill you, I'll...!"
...But she didn't move.

| Of course, things would refuse to go down so easily. Brailynn's gaze darted aside as the young nurse's hold on Arbor was finally released. In little time at all, a sharp blade of metal was pressed up against the Kaya girl's face, and they were back to square one. The blonde gritted her teeth, taking a step back and avoiding any stumble as the Autumn in her arms shoved her back. The dreamy daze was gone, the room suddenly illuminated blue in lightning, and without a second thought; the former Spring decided she'd had just enough of this.
How could they think to survive whoever was out there if they couldn't even manage to to survive each other? Questions for another time.
Whilst she heard Kayla spit beside her, she made her move. Energy stolen only just moments before rose to the surface, a slick golden glow appearing across her skin and clashing with the cool colors around them. Lynn made a leap for it, the distance between her and the former hostage closed within a blink of an eye with no effort to stop her momentum. She swung her fist straight towards Arbor's stomach, her teeth bared stubbornly. No one was dying on her watch, no matter what mess happened here.
