Kaya held a wild hare in her hands. The air bit at her cheeks, it nibbling at her finger with a panick, but the girl seemed undisturbed by either, instead overjoyed. She sat by the lake in only an oversized pink sweater, scuffing at pebbles with her moccasins, over and over, right leg then left leg, kicking crumbs of sand and dirt towards the water as she watched the rabbit, a shuffling noise echoing across the still, icy surface before her. It was so cute, so small, like a baby seal. Her hand pressed hard into its neck with each glide over its furry body.
