As ever, Beata had gone all out in the decoration department; rose bushes and cherry blossoms sickeningly littering every corner of the school, sweet petals and streamers and ribbons at every corner and throughout each hallway. If you traveled around the school enough, you would notice each student's name written somewhere on a cut-out heart shaped piece of paper. A few students had hunted down their own name and wore it as a badge of honor proudly across their chest. Candy? There was enough bowls set out to give anyone an instant cavity.

While there were some who went out of their way to ditch and try and skip out on the cheesy celebrations, the school learned and knew better this time around. There was one thing accounted for that nobody could resist, no one could avoid, and the school's specialized cupids struck around the peak of the population's gathering... aka, they shoved your cheesy love notes in your face whilst you were sitting during lunch and trying to enjoy your food.

If you could even do as much.

At noon, they struck, a wave of volunteers in little pink wings rushing around the cafeteria; dropping gifts and notes and presents in the hands of their ~~victims~~ lucky recipients. And then just like that, they were gone in a flash.

"Happy Valentine's Day!!"

Of course, there's bound to be a few here in there who would a more civilized, one on one approach. If you'd like to hand out your own valentine personally, what was there to stop you?

It was just like any other day. Declan actually hated Valentine's just like everyone else, mainly because he saw it as a pointless way for people to spend money. That didn't stop him, though. He still went out and would by stores dry of candy and all sorts of goodies the day of Valentine's just to screw with other people buying last minute gifts. The sheer amount of sugary sweets would last him until Christmas before he started all over again.

Something was different about this year, however. As he sat in at a lunch table picking at his food, he only rolled his eyes and huffed while several volunteers burst into the room, handing out small pieces of paper accompanied by an assortment of gifts ranging from stuffed animals to chocolate. He didn't know any of these people and couldn't have cared less until he was interrupted by a box of chocolates falling onto his table with a note attached. Instantly, his entire demeanor shifted to that of surprise followed by a wicked curiosity. Picking up the note, he quickly read it before slamming the note down on his desk, his cheeks immediately turning a bright shade of red as the name at the bottom of the note had been seared into his brain. Thomas had sent him chocolate and a telegram for Valentine's day. How was Declan supposed to respond to this?

"What the hell, Thomas?" he muttered to himself as his hands gripped the top of the chocolate box, opening it uncertainly until he was staring at the perfect little pieces just waiting to be eaten. What did all of this mean? He had just recently found out that Thomas was gay -- did this mean that he had a crush on the spring? Was this really happening?

The more interesting part was the fact that deep inside of him, Declan's heart began to race and butterflies grew in his stomach. No, wait, this was wrong! He wasn't into guys... was he? He'd never really had any kind of significant other, if that's what they were called, but still! This wasn't how it was supposed to be. Yet, he couldn't shake the feeling. He actually enjoyed the gift he received but now he was struggling. He'd definitely have to find Thomas after lunch and figure this out.
