Not letting his gaze leave the boy's, Jake stayed as still as a statue, waiting for something, anything, to happen. Maybe he'd explode into a million little pieces, or maybe he'd be squashed like a bug from the invisible force that was holding him down. The possibilities were practically endless, and at this point, only time would tell him what his most unfortunate fate was going to be.
When the kid said something about looking like he swallowed a cockroach, Jake couldn't help but smirk. This kid really thought that he was all that, didn't he? Well, he could throw snide remarks all he wanted, but the truth was, Jake couldn't have cared less. He'd played this game before, he knew what his opponent was trying to do, 'cause he was usually the one making the remarks, except his were way better than telling someone that they looked like they'd swallowed a bug. What an amateur.
"Look like a swallowed a cockroach?" he started with a smile, yet again replying to the kid's remark with his own comment instead of keeping quiet. "Have you never had cockroach? It's actually quite good," he chuckled. He'd actually never had those ugly little bugs before, but he'd heard about the Chinese eating them, so if they were able to make a meal out of them, then they couldn't be that bad, right?
