| One minute, Roderick had been going out to buy a pack of smokes, and the next, he was sitting in the lounge with three kittens, now short almost three hundred dollars.
Where the impulse to suddenly buy pets had come from, he didn't know. Whether it had been a smart decision or not, he didn't know.. Most likely not, but it wasn't like he could just return them now. For starters, one had wriggled under one of the lounge sofas and wasn't coming out, and secondly, it had barely taken the Winter twenty minutes to grow irreversibly attached to them.
Now, Roderick was hunched awkwardly down beside the sofa, one arm squeezed between it and the floor in search of his elusive third kitten. He'd been at this for ten minutes to no avail. The other two cats climbing all over his back were making this exponentially harder, as well. "Come on now," he cooed, clicking his tongue in hopes of catching the little bugger's attention. "It can't be that comfortable under th--"
And then, all of a sudden, the kitten burst out from underneath the sofa a little ways away from him. Roderick's free hand shot forward to grab it, but his fingers closed around thin air. As it turned out, the sound of the door opening, of all things, had piqued the kitten's interest, and it was scrabbling over towards whoever had just walked in.

| After a busy day of just trying to go out to buy a soft drink, Poker also fell into the trap of Impulse buying and went and rented himself three adorable little puppies from the pet store. There was a sale if you bought the family together. Something Poker could NOT say no to.
These guys did not have a mother and the manager wanted to make sure the three stuck together so he gave Poker a "Grab two get one free!" Deal. He might of saved 100 dollars but that also meant that he still spent 200 on something he didn't really need.
Poker was walking in the hallway trying to get to his dorm with the three pups in his arms but unfortunately he couldn't keep control of all three of them as they managed to escape and pique into the lounge room themselves. Once the door had been opened slightly the three canines rushed into the room with Poker following right behind them only to discover that there were also kittens in here.
"Uh-oh.......this can't be good"
Even though these pups were the extremely playful type, Poker had no idea how their reaction would be if they began to interact with the feline species. He prayed that they wouldn't cause a mess and start chasing them around the entire area but no one knew for sure. He just had to wait and see while trying to stop them if worse came to worst. |

| Within the span of ten measly seconds, all-out, kitten-on-puppy warfare broke out in the lounge.
As soon as the puppies entered the room, the two kittens on Roderick's back flung themselves off of him and charged towards their newfound enemies, spitting and hissing with territorial malice. The puppies seemed a little startled by the sudden appearance of an aggressive presence, but didn't appear to be be sharing the kittens' anger at all - in fact, they seemed more amused by it than anything else, tails waggling excitedly. Roderick yanked his arm out of the tight crevice he'd stuffed it into and sat up, craning his neck to get a better look at the ridiculous scene.
It was more of a one-sided battle as opposed to all-out warfare, now that the Winter could see what was going on more clearly. The kittens arched their tiny backs and swiped furiously at the puppies with their forepaws, hoping to chase them away, but they were really only making their end-goal less and less accessible. The puppies seemed to be taking this as some sort of game. Fascinating.
Roderick had become so transfixed on the mini-battle that he hadn't even noticed the boy who'd just walked in.

| With an all-out puppy-kitty war breaking lose there was absolutely nothing Poker could do about it. Still though, it was better to try and fail than to just give up. Which was the reason why Poker decided to jump into the arena and try to stop this madness. It goes without saying though that while caught in the mix of this action Poker had began to receive numerous scratches and bites from both parties as he tried to stop this conflict.
"Ouch! Bad Cat! Ow, Bad Dog! Da- you little monsters!"
Poker could only last not more than 30 seconds into this battle before he dropped dead in front of the other student he'd never met before. He looked up at the boy and spoke in an exhausted voice and gave a slight smirk. "Hey buddy, you don't happen to be better at handing animals would you? At least better than me anyway." |

| Roderick's eyes snapped abruptly up to Poker when he was addressed directly, a smidgen startled. He hadn't entirely caught what he'd said, but it'd more than likely been about the warring baby animals. Their fight was kind of taking up half the floor space, anyway.
"Ah.. Right," he mumbled, pretending he'd registered what the boy had said. With a grunt, Roderick pulled himself up to his feet and sauntered towards the commotion. Bending over to grab the nearest kitten by the scruff, he used his free hand to undo his zipper half-way, and then plopped the squirming creature inside of his coat. He did the same with the second. The third, however, twisted around and immediately sunk its claws and teeth into Roderick's hand, clearly not happy to have its conflict with the puppies coming to a premature end.
Perhaps it would have been better to just allow it to let go by itself, but instead, Roderick pulled it forcibly off of him. First mistake. Its claws snagged on his skin as he tried to free its grip, leaving immediate red streaks criss-crossing his hand. He winced and let go of the kitten. It scurried hurriedly back under the couch, hissing.
Roderick held his hand up to inspect it more closely, watching the blood bead at the seams of the cuts and roll down his wrist. The drops looked like little scarlet beetles trying to crawl down into his sleeve. He glanced up at Poker and wiped his hand on his shirt, leaving dark red patches behind. "Too late for a refund on these, I imagine."

| "Lucky I rented!........Should probably return these guys by now though"
Poker laughed back at the student as he still couldn't even get a hold of just one of his puppies. With the kittens out of the way it might of just been better off though to just let them play by themselves for a little while. That idea however would be unfair towards the kittens though so Poker decided to just cage them instead."You wouldn't happen to have a pet carrier I could borrow would you?~ Even if it's a small one I'm pretty sure I can fit the three of these guys in there. I'll go and return these guys after we capture them." |
