Strange New Arrival [Open]

A soft whistle escaped Sam as they stood at the gate of the academy, staring up at the school that towered over them -nothing like they had ever seen before. The idea of coming to this...School had been a hard one to swallow for a long while, having wafted on the idea for almost a year despite it being sorely needed. It was after their...Well, truth be told Sam had lost count how many times they had ended up with a bloody nose due to accidentally crashing into a wall. But enough was enough. A bittersweet smile flashed onto their face as the tugged at the suitcase they had brought with them, taking in a deep breath as they started to trug forward. They had already decided that they were going to be themself for this - to be out in the open of what they had struggled so hard to hide from their parents....They could only hope everybody would be willing to accept them.

Ed had heard another member of his family had been sent off to Beata, so once he saw someone arrive he strolled over to the entrance to "welcome" the latest member of his family to join the academy. "Hello Sam. Are you just getting here?" he greeted. As soon as he had said that, he realized that they would probably have no idea who he was. Ed only knew about Sam because during his time away from Beata he had kept tabs on all of his Agrona insiders but also every member of his family that would most likely develop gifts or already had them.

Sam came to a stop when they saw somebody approaching, fixing him with a curious look that only shifted to one of confusion when he spoke. He...Knew their name? Sam shifted on their heels, flashing him a slightly nervous look. "Uh...Yeah, I just arrived," they said before pausing, sticking their hand out for a handshake. "Well...You know my name but...Who are you? There was a pause, before they gave out a nervous laugh as they flashed him a smile. "I don't want to be rude but I-I wasn't expecting to be given a tour or anything..." Another pause. "At least I don't think there was mention of a tour on the brochure..."

Ed shook his head. "The tour isn't an 'official' part of the welcome wagon to Beata but usually someone's out here to lead new students to the office," he said. As to who he was, Ed thought about how he could explain it to Sam to make sure they'd recognize him. "And uh, I'm Ed. I don't know if you remember Barry, but I'm his twin," he explained. Sometimes he forgot how long it had been since his family had actually known that he was alive.

Sam fixed a curious gaze on Ed, ringing the name Barry over and over in their head. Barry, Barry...It was familiar and now that they gave him a proper look they were certain that they almost recognized...Oh! Sam's eyes lit up as they snapped their finger, finally putting it together. Ed was one of her cousins. Well, second or third cousins but they were related by blood (even if slightly distantly) ...And their Gifts they supposed. "I remember Barry! I think I met him once or twice at a family gathering years back," they mused softly before giving Ed a sheepish grin. Truth be told, Sam kinda forgot that they would have some family here at Beata but it was a relief - friendly faces in all that. "Its wonderful to meet you Ed. Sorry about that - I wasn't expecting to run into anybody...Much less somebody who would know who I was," they said as they followed it with a small, sheepish laugh.

Edward smirked at his cousin. Our family is chock full of gifted, although most have strictly super speed. You're a rarity in our family, Sam," he said, motioning for them to follow. "It's not just me and Barry here, either. We've got Felicity, who's the most hyper of us all, and Erik, our half-Russian cousin. They both have super speed," he explained. "Not sure if you'd remember either of them either. Felicity probably. She's hard to forget."

"I'm not that special," Sam tried to wave off the compliment of being a 'rarity' as they followed after Edward, a small nervous giggle escaping them as they tugged their suitcase after them. They allowed their attention to drift onto the two names that he mentioned, musing over them. "I...I think I remember Felicity...Maybe?" There was almost an annoyed sigh that escaped them but it was followed with a faint smirk as they gave a shrug of their shoulders. "Our family is way to big for our own good at times."

Edward nodded, remembering the trips across the country trying to catalog the entirety of his family tree with gifts. He had even trekked up to Canada. He led Sam up the stairs and headed through the door, holding it open for his cousin. The speedster motioned towards the sign that read "Office." "Here we are," he told them. "Do you think you'll need help getting to the dorms?"
