Round 1: Mallon / Bryson vs. Lee / Kent

Caine felt a rush of satisfaction once more when his fist connected with Oliver's head. One blow had missed, but one connected. Those odds settled well with him, but he needed more, needed to win. He had let his guard down for a moment with his overconfidence and found himself thudding against the dirty ground. His shirt would be stained. Caine wasted no time in kicking up his feet to aim at his opponent's head (occ: i think he went down with Caine?). He pulled back and attempted to get back up on his feet. It took a second but he managed to get up and plant his feet into the ground. His sides heaved and a lop-sided grin came over his features, "You're not bad. But I have a track record of never losing a fight that I have to keep and intend on doing so."

The moment the two of them hit the ground, Oliver had wasted no time in swinging his knife, trying to get any and all cuts through his opponent. It was sloppy and an absolute mess, but it was the only chance he could see then. The kicks started flaring in, aiming for his head, but he managed to squirm out of the way, pain shooting through his side and his arm. It still could be way worse, he told himself. The blonde scrambled back to his feet, his hands shaky and his entire self dirtier than it'd ever been in years. A truly disgusting feeling, and he'd started to wonder why'd he'd joined this damned tournament again in the first place.

"You know what they say about cockiness being one's own downfall," Olive spat into the earth, taking an uneasy step around Caine, looking for any opportunity to swoop in. He had to have a weak point somewhere. With a growl in his throat, the young man swung forward again, swiping his knife away at his torso.

So he was gonna try and wall her off from the rest of the match? Good thing she didn't need to be close. She lept into the air and sent massive waves through the ground beneath her when she landed. The ground shook beneath the four of them as the buildings around them began to crumble further. Large chunks fell near the group, narrowly missing them all. "Sorry Caine..." she muttered, promising herself she'd help once she could.

She really liked risking her partner didn't she? Well any more damage to him, would just make him easier to take out. Well the same applied to him, and his team. Oh well, there were risks in battle, not everything went perfectly. He could feel the damage to himself but it wasn't that great thanks to his shield. Once he felt the vibrations faded, he was ready to strike.

The wall he had built quickly shattered and fell to the group hoping to provide a distraction while Gabe silently manipulated shadow spikes behind the girl, aiming them right for her back. It would be hard to dodge all of them especially seeing how it would be hard to know they were coming.

Caine's feet had missed Oliver's head, but they still managed to hit something. In the process, he felt the sting of the knife once more. Thankfully, none of the cuts were too deep, but they still managed to make him curse. Oliver's response only drove him to want to prove the other boy wrong. Walking away with a loss was never something Caine enjoyed. He grit his teeth against the pain that stung in various places. It wasn't too bad yet, the adrenaline drove him forwards, blocking out hurt and preventing it from becoming overwhelming. Before he could get in a hit, Oliver was slashing at his torso. The blow had the potential to be fatal, but the ground rumbled and Caine stumbled out of the way. He quickly glanced over at his partner after the chunks of building fell around them. Whatever she was doing was certainly screwing with him, but it had managed to save him from the last hit. He had mixed feelings about it, but gave her a nod of encouragement.

Finding a decent footing, Caine tried to create a bit of distance between himself and his attacker. He needed a bit of space. It was then he remembered it. Cursing internally, the boy's hand flew to the dagger that sat in a sheath on his hip. He'd had no intention of using it under the hope he would be able to change and figure out how to fight in wolf form. But that hadn't happened. Thinking quickly, Caine launched himself forward, utilizing as much speed and he could manage. His left arm came up as a block as he rushed Oliver. It was similar to the first move he had used, but this time the intention was simply to get his opponent to the ground. At the same time, his right hand pulled the dagger from its place. It's deadly point was aimed straight for Oliver's chest. He had no intention of killing anyone, but hopefully this would leave a mark that would not soon be forgotten.

Gabe did the thing to save the team from time because Coon has to drive soon and doesnt want to miss the time limit. Gabe built another wall to protect him from the next attack because this is the only thing he could do rn.

Mikaela could feel the spikes come from the ground rather than hear them. Everything made vibrations. She tried to roll out of the way but was cut by one of the spikes. It wasn't a bad cut, but it still stung. Now she was angry. She charged at Gabe, punching the wall with her vibes and shattered the wall. She then pressed her hands to the ground and shook the earth beneath them. The buildings around them continued to crumble, the pieces falling all around them. She wanted Gabe to quit avoiding her attacks. She wanted his stupid shadow walls to stop protecting him from her gifts. Enough was enough. Let's see him, or anyone for that matter, to stay on their feet after this seismic activity.

The pointed tip dug into Oliver's chest with a sickening sound as Caine came down on top of him. However, Caine continued to dig the blade in. His trick had worked. Finally, after struggling to gain the upper hand the whole match, he had gotten it. Not only had he come out on top, Caine had won it. He watched his opponent with dark eyes. With a twist of the dagger, there would be some very serious damage done. Struggling was futile. The Summer relaxed a little with the realization he had done it. A smirk edged its way onto his expression and he said lowly, "What was that about pride again?" He retracted the dagger, flicking the blood off onto the ground and turning away.

"Come on, Mikaela! We just got to finish this off and the match is ours!" With one half of the opposing team down, there was no doubt they could truly win this. He turned to watch the pair, prepared to jump in and help. But, Caine decided to hold off. Mikaela seemed like she could hold her own, and this was her fight. However, the moment she needed assistance, he was prepared to jump in.

Gabe watched with neutral eyes as his partner fell. Did he even try against the other boy? It didn't really seem like it to him. He wasn't expecting much, but jeez.. Yellow eyes flicked up to Caine. He was acting like he had already won. Gabe was left, and he still had a decent amount of energy, a win wasn't guaranteed. His still had a few plans left that he could try.

He was kneeling the ground after Kaela's recent attack. His chest heaving slightly as kept himself calm, and tried to ignore the pain he was feeling. It irked him to see Caine's celebration. Shadows appeared grabbed the Summer's arms wrapping around them slightly to get a secure grip, yanking the wolf boy to the ground. "I'm still here, don't get cocky." Gabe growled. He stood, ready to brace himself or use his shadows to block Mikaela's next attack. He knew it was coming, he would just have to use these two against each other for now.

Mikaela sighed heavily, irritated. She really didn't like this boy. But now that it was a two versus one situation, she could stop putting her teammate in danger. So instead she shot off two vibration blasts towards Gabriel. With two working together they had a much easier time getting their opponent to go down.

He could barely help the surprised gasp that left his mouth as he was suddenly yanked to the ground. A grunt of pain escaped his lips. The shock of the move, along with the aching pain that still afflicted his body from earlier wounds, made him want to rip this kid's throat out. After such an exhausting, albeit satisfying, fight with Oliver, Caine thought he deserved the victory. Him and Mikaela would be the winners. This little fuck wouldn't stop that from happening. Almost as soon as he had hit the ground, the Summer was back up on his feet again, and charging towards Gabe. Rage burned hot in his stomach. It almost felt like it had come up from out of nowhere. Lately, Caine had become so agitated with just about everything. It was an uncontrollable feeling, something he hated. Although, he had grown rather used to it. This time he let it run wild.

"If you think you have any chance against me, against us, you're dead wrong!" He shouted as he rushed towards his opponent. All strategy was forgotten in the recklessness of it all. Caine just wanted him done for. There were no thoughts of the tournament, no thoughts of anything else but the immediate desire to take down Gabe. As he ran, Caine continued to yell at his enemy, "I'll make you r-" And then his world exploded. All the energy from his white hot rage seemed to explode outwards. There was no pain this time like there had been the first time. It happened in an instant before stopping. Where Caine once stood was a four foot tall, pitch black wolf. His sides heaved. The change had stopped him dead in his tracks. His eyes locked with Gabe's and a ferocious snarl broke from in throat. There had been a pause, but once more Caine was on track to knock over the smaller boy. His lope was uneven, yet each stride was propelled forwards with insane amounts of muscle behind them.

As soon as he saw a thing of movement from Mikaela instantly a Shadow wall was created in the path between her and him, blocking the vibrations from effecting him too badly. Yes he still did feel it but it wasn't as dangerous as it could have been.

His attention turned back to Caine as soon as the boy spoke again. Oh a wolf boy. Well he would just have to stay away from him. He didn't have any range. Gabe took a step back, using a shadow to swing at the black wolf, hoping to knock him off track. Either he would have to dodge it or he would have to take the blow if he wanted to get to Gabe bad enough.

Mikaela saw her chance. She charged the boy. Then she swung her leg around and, infused with her gift, aimed for the boy's back. If nothing else, it would ruin his concentration and knock him off balance. At best, it would send him flying. She was beginning to tire of the fight. One of their opponents went down fairly easy; why couldn't this one? It was a two-on-one fight. Gabe should have little to no chance at winning. That didn't stop Mikaela from giving her all, however. She wanted to end this as quickly as possible.

Driven on by blind rage, Caine continued to rush towards Gabe. Something struck his side and he was knocked off balance. A snarl rumbled from his chest. It still felt strange being in his wolf form, but Caine had no control over it now. His side protested as he raised himself back onto all four paws. Quickly shaking his coat, the wolf prepared to attack again. Sharp teeth gnashed together as his paws thudded awkwardly against the ground. Once he was close enough, Caine pushed off the ground and pounced. There was power behind the take off, but no strategy. He jisy attempted to knock over the other boy.
