Double Trouble (Open)

The two girls looked at the school in unison. They were identical, apart from their shockingly different hair. Their luggage sat around them. They both had the same expression of mild disinterest across their faces, brown eyes narrowed slightly at the sight of the huge school. The girl with the white hair tilted her head slightly to the right.

"It is quite large," she said to the girl next to her.

Her raven-haired twin rested a hand on her hip and popped her gum. "It is," she replied, simply.

"You think anyone's going to come and get our bags?"

The other girl shrugged. "I bet if you asked nicely," she said, a smile forming on her face.

"Oh, Vera, but you are so wicked," she laughed, genuinely considering using her gifts to make someone carry her bags. If only there was someone nearby. . . winkwinkhinthintplzpostwithme.

Perhaps today was a day for new kids, because Eloise too had just arrived at the campus. Having grown up in a small apartment in the hustle and bustle of New York crowds and greasy fried fast foods, the green spacious area was a big adjustment for her. She had never been outside of New York once in her life before this moment and now she was living in the hicks at some school of rolling green hills and immense amounts of trees.
In hindsight, Eloise was pissy about having to live at some stupid school in the middle of no-where, while her mother moved in with her new boyfriend and lived a happy life. The whole situation was unjust and unfair.
"Good bye my little gumdrop, you have fun now." Her mother cooed to her with a hand on her head, before she had left. Without thinking Eloise had swatted away her mother's hand and shot her the bird, thus sending her mother into a fit of tears and her mother's new boyfriend sending a swift slap across her face and telling her to "get the hell out".
Eloise put a hand up to her cheek, she could still fill the sting of his blow across her face if she concentrated on the moment. Her eyes swelled with tears but she forced them away, crying was for wimps and she was not one of those.

And thus, Eloise stood at the entrance with an old bag in hand. Her colorful hair whipped across her face as a gust of wind advanced across the gates of the school. It was huge, but nothing like New York, it smelt like dirt and books, Eloise wasn't too sure she liked that. Walking across the path, she looked over and saw a pair of twins that were the exact same except for the hair. Immediately, Eloise was reminded of the shinning twins for no reason other than she was desperately trying hard to find something wrong with this school for a reason to go back. Narrowing her eyes at them, the pastel haired girl slowly attempted to walk away from them.

Eloise wasn't safe from the unified glances of Vera and Mera, brown eyes staring off at a single girl with pastel hair. Their identical looks were a bit eerie, certainly, but other than mischievousness the twins were harmless. Mera and Vera were both quite caring, actually, but occasionally they were prone to . . . well, you know, mischief. Sometimes mischief could be kind of mean. Of course, the mischief-makers didn't often know this. Mera certainly didn't think it could possibly be mean to have a little fun with the random girl that walked by. With a sly grin to her sister, she called out to the other girl.

"Hey there!" she said cheerily, taking a step forward. "Where are you going?" she asked, and even as she spoke, her eyes seemed strangely fixated on Eloise, her words becoming sweeter than honey. "Are you new here too? Why don't you come over here?" It was phrased like a question, indecipherable to any passers-by, but Mera's ability allowed her to cloak commands into innocent words. It was incredibly difficult to resist her persuasion.

Vera listened as her sister spoke; for some odd reason, she, unlike anyone else, could tell when Mera was using her charmspeaking abilities. It was strange, but both sisters had decided it was because they were twins. Mera had never encountered anyone else that could detect any changes when she used her ability.

"Come on, now," Vera added casually. "We don't bite." She smiled, revealing her teeth, as if to emphasize this. It was rare for her to engage those her sister cooed; she simply stood back and watched, most times. But unlike Mera, she had noticed the girl with the strange hair narrowing her eyes at the sisters, as if they were something out of a horror movie. She didn't like being leered at.

Alex watched from a distance as she watched the twins approach another girl. "Wonder what's gonna happen," she muttered, before going closer, and using her enhanced agility to spring into a tree, and watch from above. She squatted on a branch, and watched while the white-haired twin called out, with a voice smoother than honey. Charmspeaking, she thought wryly. VERY useful ...

Rex leaned against the tree that Alex was on, and watched too. He rolled his eyes when the white-haired one called out. "Boring," he muttered, before tapping the tree, and Alex glanced down. "Can we go now?" he hissed. "I'm freaking bored like heck here!" Alex shook her head, before fixing her gaze back on the twins. "Not yet," she replied. "I wanna see what happens!" Rex sighed, but turned back to the twins and the girl.

Eloise turned around almost immediately, an eyebrow raised. She didn't want to go over there, she REALLY didn't want to go over there. But almost instinctively her body responded to Mera's words and her feet walked over there, Eloise wasn't really sure what was happening. She tried to turn around, but she couldn't- almost as though she didn't have control of her body. Her mouth arose into a crooked grin, as though she was happy to be next to the girls... She wasn't. On the inside she was squirming, frantic even, but other than her frantic eyes, her exterior only showed complete content with being next to these freaky twins.

Then the feeling was gone and almost immediately her smile fell and she just kind of stared at them speechless for a second. Then, regaining a cool composure, the girl looked at them like they were both crazy and stupid. "No, I'm not new I'm just walking around with a suitcase." Eloise said, raising an eyebrow at them. "Duh, of course I'm new!" Maybe sassing these twins wasn't a great move, but Eloise had never been that smart of a person- just a brutally honest one. She was only trying to express that she didn't appreciate them doing their freaky mind control or whatever had just happened only seconds before, but she wasn't really good at speaking her emotions either.

Mera was proud in spite of herself when she not only managed to get the girl to come over, but she managed to do it with a smile. She didn't doubt herself, or her abilities, but it was little victories like this that made having them worthwhile. Just knowing that you had the power to make someone do whatever you desired. . . it was kind of scary and kind of empowering at the same time. Her rust-red lips curved into a smile when Eloise approached.

Vera, on the other hand, was less pleased; when the her sister's little spell had been broken, the girl showed her attitude once again; first it was the narrowed eyes, now the sarcastic comment and arched  brow. She really was beginning to not like this girl.

Mera apparently took it differently. "Oh?" she asked, her tone matching the other girl's. "Excellent! We can enter together," she said, to her sister's displeasure. Mera could almost feel Vera's irritation. She changed her tone accordingly. "What's your name?" she asked sweetly, no power laced through her voice; just an honest question.

Eloise was really trying to push these two away, but her defiant attitude wasn't really working on the tall twin with white hair. The other one, the black haired one looked just as annoyed as Eloise felt. She just wanted some space... but alas, the girl found herself walking with the twins step by step deeper into the grounds. "[color:eb7b=66ff99]Eloise." She said with a monotone voice, really wondering why her utter lack of charm wasn't pushing them away.

"What about you? What's your names?" She asked, trying to start a conversation since there was obviously no shaking them. In all honesty, she didn't really care; she didn't care about anything in this stupid school in stupid nowhere. Gahh, this whole thing was stupid and of course she was being manipulated on only her first day of school. A "great" start to an even "greater" year.

The twins walked with Eloise, their suitcases rolling behind them. Neither sister really cared what the girl's name was, but they both smiled at the revelation anyway -- really, it was only nice to be polite to the poor victim girl you've manipulated.

"I'm Mera," said the tall girl with hair like snow and a voice like honey. She said her name with confidence and clarity, her voice as bold and upright as she was. "And this is my sister -- " It told you a bit about Mera that she took it upon herself to introduce her less talkative twin.

"Vera," The dark-haired one said, not putting the effort to smile and be polite into her introduction. She was a bit less forward than her sister; more observant, more cautious, compared to the quick-to-engage Mera.

"So, what can you do?" Mera asked, quick to change the too-boring subject, inquisitive and curious and engaging as ever.

Eloise just kind of stared at them, similarly she wasn't really interested in these girls. Well she was interested in trying to get away, but that wasn't really the same thing. Mera and Vera? The two names sounded eerie to Eloise, but maybe that was because they already reminded her of the shining twins. But trying to be just the slightest courteous, she nodded as they said their names.

"It's nothing too useful," Eloise said, choosing her words carefully. She wasn't going to just give up that personal information to two tall (and creepy), complete strangers. "I think I have a good idea of your gift." Eloise said to the talkative twin with disinterest. She was totally bluffing, she had absolutely no idea. She just wanted to look cool.

Vera raised an eyebrow at that proclamation. Interesting that she claimed to know Mera's power, but she didn't elaborate at all -- did she actually figure it out or was she just trying to sound clever? "Oh?" she asked Eloise, eyeing her multi-colored hair with disapproval and folding her arms across her chest. Mera gave her a look, though, and she didn't follow up that question.

Mera smiled sweetly at the girl, not prepared to give away the full details of her abilities just yet. Misdirection -- and sometimes outright lying -- was important to someone with her particular brand of gifts. If this Eloise didn't feel comfortable blurting her powers out to a random stranger, Mera wasn't going to return the favor. . . but that didn't mean she couldn't use them. "How'd you know I could talk to animals?" She asked. The way she phrased it, it could have been simple teasing or a legitimate question. "Come on, now," she said, quickly changing the subject. "I'm sure your abilities are much more glamorous. Tell me."
