Are you ready for this?

*cue cheesy space jam music*

The school's gym and combat teacher stood in the middle of the football field, laughing and chatting it up, they checked over their clipboards and glanced over at the doors to the locker room every now and then to check to see if any of the students were going to bother to dress out and come out to the field on time. No hurry to them, of course, no matter how long they took it wouldn't take any time away from their training - and they planned on working the poor kids hard today. Great thing about small private schools, you could work things out easily with the other teachers when it came to the student's schedules.
"I give 'em ten minutes." Coach Harris laughed quietly under her breath, pulling the cigarette out of her mouth and crushing it under her boot. It wasn't a good example to set for the kiddies.
Coach Bear chuckled along with her, thinking he saw someone start to peek out of the girl's locker room, but change their mind and scurry back inside. "The sooner you get out here, the better!" He called.

Evelyn sheepishly walked out onto the field. Dread took root in her stomach as she spotted the two imposing figures known as Coach Harris and Coach Bear, and with terror, she realized that she was the first one out. All of her classmates were still holed up in the locker room like scared little rats, how nice. Some other people outside beside her might have been reassuring, but alas, nothing seemed to happen like it should when she was concerned.

She gulped and gripped the hem of her gym shorts. Evelyn felt naked and vulnerable without her knife. I need a drink. the girl decided as she stopped and stood around, fidgeting in place. Was she supposed to be doing something? Stretching, maybe? Oh God, this is so awkward. Why did I come out here so soon?  Feeling increasingly out of place by the moment, she stared off into the sky and drank in the crisp air, withering under the very thought of silent judgment cast her way. Please just get this started. At the very least, Evelyn was in tip-top condition and was confident that she could smoke the “competition”… assuming, of course, that she could survive this torture. Don’t make me stand in place anymore, please, just start this.

And all of Shadow's characters quickly appeared. Lindsey was already reared up and ready to go as she jogged onto the field. Her energy was almost nauseating... at least to Penny who could not stand the fact that she had to wear gym clothes and be out here for this training. It was a great idea, but she already knew she was dangerous. Would this really be an issue? She was sure that learning defense was good, but it didn't make her want to be here any more than normal.

Richard trudged onto the field with almost no motivation what-so-ever. He hadn't been the athletic type, but he didn't want to be out here more for the sake that it was mandatory. If he could just be here just to be here, he'd be perfectly fine. Rolling his eyes as he got to the small group, he glanced around to see who else was going to join them because right now a few girls and one of him was a little awkward, especially since he didn't know anyone.
