Starting Fresh

The school rose above Maya, it was bigger than the other high schools she got into."This school might as well have been a college before turning into a high school."She thought to herself.Maya walked slowly through the gate entrance and glanced at the gates.The gates weren't creaking or closing as they should have been, that ment she wasn't alone.Maya sat near a bench, which didn't creek as the gates did.She glanced at her surroundings to see if there was a map or sign but it ended as soon as her gaze landed on the fountain in the middle of the entrance.

As the girl sat down on the bench, another girl began slowly walked up behind her. She was careful not to make a sound, but her effort was useless. She tripped on nothing, and fell right behind the girl. The thud was sure to alert the girl, what was the point in trying to sneak around now? She quickly picked herself up, and dusted off her clothes. She looked down at the girl on the bench, and placed her hands on the bench. This girl looked... New, maybe. "Hey." She said with a smile. "You new here?"

Maya nodded at the girl, who was staring to get on the bench."Yep."She grinned at how clumsy the girl was but everybody makes mistakes."Its my first day here, and I forgot to introduce my self.My name is Maya Sahara Yotasaki but can just call me Maya."She smiled back at the girl."Whats yours?"

"Hey Maya." she replied. She didn't know if she should tell her her real name or not, but was leaning towards a yes. "Hmmm. Okay then, my name is Jessica Mize Ruzard. Nice to meet you Maya." She couldn't stop thinking about what her power was, but thought that it would be rude to ask her something like that.

Maya turned to see her phone, she put it on vibrate so it couldn't be a problem.She put it back into her pocket.She returned to the conversation with Jessica."So... what goes on in the school?"She her brown hair back that in her face."My parents didn't tell me much about the school except it was for gifted children."She informed.Maya wondered why the girl was acting a little nervous.

She tuned away from Maya, and looked at the buildings behind them. She hadn't really payed attention to anything anyone really said up until now, had she? "Well... I guess it's like any other school. You know, math and science, and all of that stuff. Obviously they have a class where you practice your powers..." That was all she could think of right now, nothing else. "Sorry, I guess that doesn't really answer your question, does it?" she asked as she turned back to the brown haired girl. Jessica looked down at her feet as she decided to ask. So what if she saw it as rude? "Um... Would you mind telling me your power?"

Maya looked at Jessica."My power is tiger transformation, Transforming into a tiger."She responded.Again, She pushed her brown hair back.

"C-C-Could I perhaps... S-See a d-demonstration?" She would obviously show Maya her power too, but that didn't matter. It wasn't a very big chance she would say yes. She may lose control when she transforms, like Jessica. Of course, Jessica didn't fully transform, she did it half way. She looked quite weird when she did it, but it meant she didn't have to lose control, so she didn't mind.

"I hope no ones looking."She whispered.Maya leaped in the air and landed on a bush.Instead of Maya coming up, there was a tiger.She stood on her haunches and roared.To bad I can't talk.She thought.
Maya roared again and scratched a tree.

"Woooow!" She was surprised, not just because she was a tiger, but also because she could transform her whole body too. She felt kind of jealous because she could transform and didn't lose her mind.

Maya stared wild eyed at the girl.Why is she looking at me like that?.She thought.Maya jumped on the pavement in front of Jessica.Her bright fur shined in the light like fire, her jet black stripes defined her pelt.The ground under her paws felt hard.Maya pounced on Jessica just to give her a furry hug.
