| The air tasted fresher up here.
She was standing on the office's slated rooftop to watch her first sunrise at Beata Academy. Morning had dawned crisp and clear, a perfect day for a perfect start, and she could already spot a handful of students milling around on the ground below.
Jane gave a happy smile and stretched out her arms. "Well, here goes nothing."
The new girl stepped off the roof into thin air and went flying to the ground. Her fresh new school blazer snapped in the wind as she fell. Like black wings made of cotton.
She hit the ground with a sickening splat, face-first, spraying a splash of blood across the bricks like a burst tomato.

| Destiny walked out of a building just in time to see the girl fall. It wasn't a student Destiny recognized. Destiny watched in frozen terror as she watched the girl get closer to the ground and finally closed her eyes hearing the thud as she hit the ground. It was sickening to hear.
The necromancer stood there with her mouth agape and her red eyes wide staring at the body in complete shock. Finally forcing herself to move the spring student walked over to the body getting a closer look, hoping, no praying there was still some life-force left and that Destiny could keep the girl alive long enough to be restored.
Once she was close enough Destiny realized that the soul was still attached to the body. The wasn't normal. Destiny began question what was going on. This girl obviously had a power or else she wouldn't be here. So it must have been her power that was keeping the soul here. Destiny was still shocked as to what she had witnessed. The life-force was gone, but the soul wasn't. What was going on?

| She could've been gone for a minute or an eternity. It all felt the same when you were dead.
Just like she'd expected, Jane's eyes lit back up with a gasp, an ugly and greedy gulp of air to re-fill her old dead lungs. Half her face was coated in dark blood, and her snazzy new uniform looked like it needed a new wash already. What a shame. She rolled over onto her back, staring up into the sky, her chest rising and falling with every pained breath. Her heart was fluttering.
That wasn't the first time she'd killed herself, but it confirmed what she already knew. She couldn't stay dead. Not for long, anyways. Life was just one big joke, wasn't it? Fell all that way and all she had to show for it was this killer headache. That was the thing that sucked about suicide. It didn't hurt until you woke back up.
It took a few moments before she realized she wasn't alone. Jane turned her head to look at the girl with white hair, blinking. A trickle of blood ran down from her forehead to the crest of her nose. "Sup," she greeted in-between breaths, flashing her a grin. "My name's Jane Grey. Like the queen."

| Modem had seen very strange things in his life. Number one, his name was weird. Number two, plants grew on his command and a patch of small flowers grew where he put his feet. (They changed depending on his mood -- that was strange too.) But never in his life has he seen a girl jump off the building, splatter their entire brains onto the pavement, and then wake up a few minutes later perfectly fine with only the dried blood to show. This, to Modem, was strange.
Little patches of clovers (clovers for curiosity) sprung up as the usually fuming teen walked up on the strange girl. Shifting his black bag slung carelessly over his back, he stopped, staring down to the zombie girl on the ground. "Grey, huh? More like a color than the queen. Heh." His red eyes pierced strikingly down, his black hair hung over his pale face like a seething shadow.

| Logan had trotted into the gates of Beata Academy that morning. He had put his stuff in the initiates dorms, had put the key snuggly into his pocket and had chosen to walk around the campus for a scenic self-tour. He had healed himself before leaving, and was glad he did. A small crowd seemed to have formed in the courtyard, scarlet threads finding their way through the gaps between people. Something terrible had happened. The boy couldn't help but walk over, letting magic dance along his fingers in aquatic green curves, bubbles and blobs tracing his hand in case he needed it.
Not too tall, Logan stood on his toes and peered over the people, down at Jane as she introduced herself. What the hell happened? The question was appropriate, but he saved it in his throat for another moment, a better moment. His viridescent eyes kept still to the bloodied girl. She seemed fine.

| She raised a blood-soaked eyebrow up at the dark-haired boy that was blocking her sun. Suicides always drew a crowd, didn't they? He looked remarkably calm for someone who just saw a girl die, but she supposed that kind of thing was common around here. Who wouldn't want to throw themselves off a building if they lived in North Dakota?
"Gray's a boring color," she replied in a sardonic tone. "'Jane the Queen' sounds so much more exciting." That was always how she introduced herself, since she was little. "Like the queen!" A teacher had told her all about Queen Jane Grey once and it'd never left her. They'd left out the part about how she was beheaded after a week.
Jane sat up, running her fingers through her hair. When she pulled her hand away, it was coated a dark red. Her head was throbbing. She needed a shower anyways. "So no brave white knight wants to help the queen to her feet?"

With a crooked eyebrow followed with a small smirk, Modem thrust his hand down to the arrogant girl. He shouldn't complain though; he was just as arrogant. "White knight? I prefer the term king." As the girl adjusted herself on her feet, thick ivy vines wrapped around her thin legs. Not caring other people were watching, Modem leaned forward, his thin lips brushing lightly against the zombie girl's ear. "But to be quite honest," Modem said softly, barley a whisper. "I wouldn't mine if you were my queen. Heh." Smoothly, the flower boy straightened his back and loosened the grip of the vines. Folding his arms over his chest, his smug look waited for a reaction on the girl's face.

| Logan eyed the boy in front of him with tired eyes, narrowed eyes and a grim smile. He backed away, but did not walk away. He kept his eyes on the girl from behind the backs of the remaining onlookers. He had yet to get a clear look at her. He struggled to find the words to offer help, streaks of green energy pulsing over his palm, but the cork in his throat made him silent and stupid. | |

| Jane took his hand and pulled herself onto unsteady feet, only smiling as he started to prattle on about kings and queens, but the ivy vines brushing up against her skin almost made her jump. They snaked up her legs, twining around her... It was hard to keep a straight face then. She'd only been here for a few hours at most, and even now, she was still getting used to this whole "superpower" thing. Dying and coming back was one thing, this was something else.
She turned her head as he came in close to brush his lips against her ear, whispering some cliche. Jane wasn't new at this, but when he stepped back, there was a tinge of red to her cheeks. Considering everything, that was... unexpected. "You're not very shy, are you?" Hitting on her in the middle of this crowd was bold enough. Hitting on her when she was covered in blood? A good-looking man of action that wasn't deterred by much... That'd be attractive. Normally. Even if it wasn't normal, Jane couldn't say that it wasn't at least a little intriguing.
There was a slight wobble to her legs and Jane subtly swayed in place. Committing suicide made you a little woozy in the head, and she wasn't the healthiest person to begin with. That was nothing, though. She tucked a bloodied strand of hair behind her ear and smiled. "Do you say that to every bloody corpse you see?"

Modem's chuckle was light as he tilted his head to the side as she wabbled, his black hair swaying. His eyes were quizzical, noticing the slight blush on her cheeks. She wasn't that easy, was she? No matter, this was fun. By this point, Modem had nearly all but forgotten the necromancer, and had not even noticed the healer. (With glowing green hands, Modem will later question why and how he didn't.) Finally, the zombie girl came to her senses. A bemused grin slipped from the smirk his parents claimed would freeze on his face permanently. (Modem was seventeen and they treated him as if he was four; it was aggravating.) "No," Modem admitted. "Only ones that come back to life."

| Destiny was a little aggravated that the boy had decided to hit on the girl right after she had come back to life. Honestly it was a bit annoying. A small smirk made it's way on the the necromancer's face as she heard what Modern had last said. Destiny focused a bit of her power, and a skeleton soon appeared in front of Modern, it was standing relatively close to him. "How bout this one?" She said with a slight chuckle.
Destiny looked back to the bloodied girl. "Are you alright? You aren't gonna die again are you? I would rather not make a puppet out of your body." Of course she was kidding about the last part. She wouldn't do that without permission first, and it was actually Juan who was standing in front of Modern at the moment. "Name's Destiny by the way. As you can see I am a Necromancer. I am guessing your power is resurrection. I suppose that would be why your soul didn't leave your body." Destiny remarked.

Like mentioned earlier, Modem had seen strange things in his life. While this wasn't all that strange particularly, the dead bones in front of him did make him slightly nervous. He had never liked dead things. However, not a single emotion flickered across the growing colder face of the flower boy. He had gotten amazing with concealing after Cecilia hurt... After he.... He had grown in the acting department over the last few months. Quite amazing, actually.
The skeleton was getting annoying. With out much thought, vines creeped from Modem's feet, across the short distance from here to there, and up the decaying calcium (or whatever bones were made if;Modem wasn't sure). Each bone seemed to be wrapped tightly with vines branching off the main. With a simple flick of his hair to the side, the skeleton was ripped apart and scattered along the courtyard. Without a word, the vines retreated and snaked around Modem's legs like a lost pet.

| They'd known each other for maybe thirty seconds and she didn't even know his name yet. "Coming on strong" was a term that came to mind, but she didn't let it pass her lips. Honestly, she was flattered. She wouldn't trust the guy in a zombie apocalypse if that was his philosophy, but still, she was flattered.
The walking skeleton forming out of thin air was decidedly less appealing. Jane jumped in her skin when it appeared and instinctively took an unsteady step back. Right onto a puddle of her own blood.
She almost went slipping back down to the bricks, but her hand shot out to grab the white-haired girl by the shoulder to keep herself steady. Her heart was thumping painfully in her chest, sending dull stabs through her arms and legs, but Jane managed to crack a smile too after hearing Destiny's self-amused chuckle.
"Nice to meet you..." she breathed, not pulling her hand away. "I should be alive for the next few minutes at least, don't worry. Just don't use me for your next party trick." Jane watched as the skeleton went clattering across the bricks. Honestly, she was glad for a little reprieve. Teasing could wait until she got her bearings again.
A thin stream of blood trickled from the corner of her mouth and down her chin. Her voice was playful, almost flirtatious, but paper-thin. She turned her head as another girl came racing to see what all the commotion was about. "Something like that. Sorry if I'm a little messy."

| A frown appeared on Destiny face as Juan was scattered across the court yard, but in a second the bones came clattering back together, and back into their usual form. "That was rude.. I don't just up and attack your plants now do I?" She said to the boy. "Or would you rather me suck the life out of your little vines right now? Everything has life force, it's so simple for me to take.." Destiny said with bit of a creepy smile towards the flower boy.
She looked back to Jane. "Thats a relief. And I won't. I only use bodies with permission. Most of the time they are skeleton's though. I got permission first before using that one over there." Destiny said her red eye's scanning the girl for a moment, trying to see if there were any life threatening wounds that she had at the moment.
Juan just started at Flower boy. He had his hands on his hips and stood in a sassy manner like he was about to sass the boy for what he did. Honestly if he could speak at the moment he would be throwing words right in Modem's face. Juan was not a happy skeleton at the moment.

Modem had had enough with this conversation and that pesky necromancer. He freaking hated skeletons. With a roll of his eyes at the comment of sucking out the life force of his very being and a shove of the skeleton to the side, Modem stretched out his long arm that ended with a hand engulfing a beautiful rose bud. "For you, my zombie queen." He mumbled lowly, in a tone that may sound sexy to some. He didn't care at this point. With a middle finger to the necromancer, Modem swung around, nearly whacking the skeleton with his backpack. As he strode away, violent red roses with nasty, gnarly thorns sprouted in his wake. Red roses for rage.
