Welcome to Hel...History Empty
PostSubject: Welcome to Hel...History   Welcome to Hel...History EmptyFri Mar 22, 2013 7:01 pm

The sun came through the window, radiating its warmth and light over the potted plants on the sill. Basking in its glow were threw lilies, beautiful and bright. The tasteful white curtains were drawn back, filling the room with light. The desks were polished and in neat rows, facing the chalkboard in the front of the room -- white chalk of identical length were lined up in the tray. The carpeting was dull and gray-blue but strangely clean, and off to the right of the class, a bit away from the window with the flowers, was an organized wooden desk. Papers were stacked neatly, a computer was tilted slightly, and three large baskets filled with crisp brown muffins -- blueberry, chocolate and banana nut -- were sitting in front of a woman. This woman was prim and pretty, with her long brown hair pulled back into a neat bun. Her modest shirt was a dark blue, and she wore a white knee-length skirt as well . . and fine pink-white pearls hang around her neck. She was tall, with a slender neck, hollow cheeks and stormy gray eyes.

The woman sat with her hands folded on the desk, smiling brightly at the students as they walked in. She had a pen in one hand. On the chalkboard, written in a thick, no-nonsense script . . .

"Please, everyone, take your seats," said Katrina Millar sweetly, blinking as students entered.

Cyreen walked in with his sister behind him, frowning. He wasn't a big fan of History but he understood it at the least. Kynrea wasn't very excited either, she didn't like it nor understand it. cx

Kimply strolled into the classroom before realizing she had entered one of the first. Groaning internally, she plastered a smile on her face and waved to the teacher. "Good morning, ma'am." The young woman greeted politely before yawning lightly and making her way to her seat.

Jayden walked in a bit later, eyes flicking around to study the room before he walked in. The room was bright and open, nothing as out of place, and there was an air of order. Wonderful. He wasn't good with this type of teacher. Granted, he didn't talk in class, but he always found ways to mess things up. Somehow. Eyebrows pinced with displeasure, he trudged to an empty seat and dropped down.

Ugh, history. Hosa came walking into the classroom with a small frown on her face. She disliked his-Hey, were those muffins? The scent of muffins caused her to perk up as she gazed at the three muffins. Alright, perhaps this class wouldn't be that bad if there were muffins. She sat down in the front row, before promptly laying her head on her stuff. This place was feeling like a normal school already...but it did have muffins...

Not long after Hosa came Netro, his eyes glimmering as he glanced around the room before stopping near the techer with a small smile. "Good morning, Mrs. Millar," he said as he gazed at the name on the chalkboard before he found a seat and sat down. Doing what he always did before he got to class; he started to make sure he had all of his stuff he might need for history.

Renard walked into the classroom, slowly rubbing a couple of fingers across his eyes. Having to wake up before 11 should be a crime. Glancing around the classroom, his eyes moved across a few early students, which surprised him: he wasn't used to students actually getting to class on time. Still, the sight of them made him feel a bit uncomfortable all the same, so, stifling an early-morning yawn, he walked to the front of the room and took a seat in a desk, keeping himself as distanced as he could from the other students. It was almost like a science... or math. Geometry? It was too early to remember learning. Getting comfortable in his seat, Renard pulled out the book he'd gotten from the library and flipped it open, spending the time before class started reading.

Jason had already been sitting in the seat in front of his brother, head-desking sharply. Oh, dear Lord, how he hated history. For some reason, the entire subject just refrained from clicking in his mind. With that added on to the type of strict teacher he knew Professor Millar was (they already had a rugged history, I'm sure of it), go ahead and consider this Jace's least favorite class of the day.

Alicia, on the other hand, adored History and sat in the very front of the class; eager to learn.

A black cat padded into the room, dragging a bag behind her. She glanced around nervously before scrambling up onto an open desk. The cat was actually Gilda, and she had managed to get herself stuck in her cat form again. This sometimes happened when she got nervous or upset, and being nervous about history class had been enough to make her change unintentionally. And since the change was unintentional, she couldn't will herself to change back. Gilda sighed, lashing her tail back and fourth. Luckilly, she would change back soon enough. But until then, she would have to focus on the problem at hand- er... paw. How would she pick up her pencil?

Robert sat near Professor Millar's desk, his materials aligned nearly as perfectly as his teacher's. He loved history and loved Professor Millar; they had a lot in common as those of the same House tended to do. He smoothed his white collared shirt, sitting stiff and rigid. He was excited to start the first day of history . . a little less so because he knew Millar would probably assign at least one assignment. His only real gripe about the teacher was her workload. It wasn't really a problem for him, a diligent, organized student, but it certainly was an annoyance.

A few seats down from him was a bubbly newly anointed Summer twirled her hair between her fingers, waiting for class to start. She didn't know what to make of the class thus far, but the smell of muffins was sure mesmerizing . . .

Trina stood up from her white chair, walking towards the front of the room. She had a cool, even expression on her face as she strode to the chalkboard. "Quiet, everyone, thank you," she said, allowing the placid, idle chat to die down. "Welcome to history class.

As you all must know by now, I'm Professor Katrina Millar, Head of Spring House and teacher of the various histories here at Beata. Allow me to start this class off with some basic rules and guidelines . . . "

She produced a stack of papers that, as could be assumed, contained the rules and passed them out in a mechanistic motion.

Quote :
Basic Rules

    1. Respect and courteousness shall be shown at all times to both other students and the professor. Cursing, fighting, being disruptive, rude, unkind, or unhelpful in any way will not be tolerated.

    2. Powers or abilities shall not be used in the classroom. Learning history is the only priority.

    3. No pets.

    4. No weapons.

    5. Be ready to work when the bell rings and bring all necessary materials to class. If you do not have an item you may not retrieve it.

    6. Follow directions; they may be elaborated on upon request but they will not be repeated more than once.

    7. Assignments must be turned in on time or no credit will be given.

    8. Maintain an organized working environment.

    9. If time is allotted it must be used productively.

... and there are several more rules I don't care to mention.

"I trust you all are capable to read over these and observe them," Millar said, smiling. "Now, please get out a writing utensil and a piece of paper." She waited for a moment before continuing. "As your first assignment I would like you all to prepare a report on someone very special in history -- someone who had or is suspected of having supernatural powers, quite like ours'. This is due on Wednesday and I want it no less than one thousand words. I also expect you to record your works cited and produce a visual aid to assist in your presentation." She said nothing and allowed the students to record all of that. "If you need help choosing someone, please see me. An example I like to use is Saint Francis of Assisi, who has been widely suspected of having animal manipulation abilities. . . I've also had students claim Benjamin Franklin had electrokinetic abilities. While these are not proven, there is evidence to support it, and you will be graded more on the evidence provided than how true your claims are.

"Now that you have your first assignment, I prepared a little treat for you as a welcome to the class of sorts. Take a muffin from my desk as you please. Those who are allergic to nuts, blueberries, or chocolate are advised not to eat them. You have a ten minute break to get organized. . afterward I would like you to open your history books, which I trust you all have, to the first chapter, and be prepared to take notes . . . "

Hosa couldn't help but let out a small giggle as she noticed Gilda come walking in; stuck in cat form. Lucky, her powers didn't get stuck at times; perhaps she was just lucky. However, she stopped as Professor Miller started to talk and sighed as she got the rule sheet and read over it. Basic stuff, she wouldn't have much trouble following these but there was a lot of them... Her gaze shifted back to Prof. Miller as she started to speak about the first assignment; before let out a small moan. She hated history and now she had to find somebody that might of had a power? She pulled out some paper and her pencil; but when Miller said that they could take muffins her gaze shot up. Dude, really? She had always had a strange love for muffins; she couldn't really explain it so she quickly stood up and grabbed a chocolate one before she sat back down and started to nibble on it as she started to run though people in history that she knew about; trying to see if any one of them had powers.

Netro just nodded as he started to go though the rules. Simple ones to follow, he just smiled as he tucked it away; he might like this class. He slowly listened to the assignment before he started to think about all the people from history that he knew. Which one of them could have powers? He was to busy thinking, he didn't take note of the whole 'you can grab a muffin' thing. He didn't really like them that much anyways.

Renard groaned inwardly listening to the rules of the teacher. Sure, they wouldn't be all that bad, but he always felt constrained by such strict rulings. At least he never really had anything to do, so he could do the work assigned in the class. Blinking his eyes a few times, he forced himself to stay awake during the class: he had a tendency to doze off during early morning classes. When the muffins were offered, he politely declined the food. They looked innocent enough, but he had a thought in the back of his mind that they were potentially poisoned, or laced with some narcotic to induce allegiance. You never know, thought the crazy conspiracy portion of his mind that sat in the corners of his brain.

Alright, enough of that. There was still studies to pay attention to. Grabbing his book - the textbook variety - he flipped it open and hoped he wouldn't fall asleep during the lecture.

Gilda looked over the rule sheet, before raising a paw. "Um, excuse me. I'm kinda stuck in-" Her sentence was cut off as a light emanated from her chest and she turned back to normal. "N-never mind." She murmured, mentally scolding herself. Don't embarrass yourself the first time in the class! As Prof. Millar mentioned a report, her eyes seemed to sparkle. Public speaking? Now that was something she was good at. She talked to people all the time! She picked up a blueberry muffin from Professor Millar's desk, nibbling on one side as she opened her history book and grabbed a pencil and piece of paper. Skimming through the pages, she searched for a subject.
