Meeting Someone..? (Open)

Jarod was sitting down on the stone sidewalk, his back propped up against the fountain. He had his favorite notebook--it was the only notebook he owned that had thoughts written down that weren't full of nonsense--out, and was writing in it. He was just writing down what he thought of the school so far, which wasn't really anything bad, but it wasn't anything good, either. This school was just so weird, so different from all Jarod's old schools.

Jarod sighed, laying his head back so it hit the stone wall of the fountain. Was this what his next three years were going to be like here? So boring and uneventful? The fourteen-year-old hadn't really even met anyone in the three months he'd been at the school. At least he'd gotten his house, but what was the use if he didn't know the names of anyone else in his house, even in his dorm?

"Hey there sweet pea. Looking a little bored, are we?" Maria walked up to the lonely student, talking in her usual charming tone.

Jarod looked up at the girl, who appeared a bit older than him, despite her height--she was shorter than him by around three or four inches. The boy, reminding himself he had no friends and another human being within his age group had just approached him. He shyly nodded his head in response to her question. "Yeah, a bit," he admitted as he rose to his feet, feeling it would be rude to have her look down at him. "You're actually the first person somewhere near my age here who I haven't gotten lost from." Jarod bit his lip. Dweeb, he criticized himself.

Maria looked at the boy, a hand on her hip. "Got lost from?" She asked tilting her head a bit. Dork. Well, I guess I'll have a little fun with him then... She slyly thought. Maria would have some fun, but first needed to get things started. "So. What's your power?" She asked in her "cute" voice. Maria's power might has well have been mind control, for she was a master at seducing men.

Jarod nodded at the girl. "Yeah," he mumbled. He bit his lower lip nervously, seeing the girl thinking silently. After this silence, she spoke again, asking Jarod what his power was. "I can control diseases," he replied. "Er, cure," he corrected himself. He didn't like to think of it as control; he only wanted to cure them, not do anything to harm someone.

Jarod noticed the girl's voice do something odd--was she trying to flirt with him or something? No, he told himself. Your persona shouts fag so loud that Adam Lambert barely beats you in gayness. "And yours?" he asked, not showing any outward signs of acknowledging the girl's flirting, if she had been flirting.

"My power?" She thought for a moment. "Requip." Maria walked over to a near by bench and sat down. "Requip, simple sword." She said aloud and with a flash of light, a medieval sword was in her hand.

Jarod's mouth dropped at the girl's ability. That was better than healing, hands down. "Wow," he said, walking over to her. "What's your name?" he asked her, biting his lip. BemyfriendpleaseIamaloserhetepleeease, he said over and over in his mind. Yes, there was a possibility this girl was an axe murderer--after all, she could conjure any weapon up from nowhere--but he was desperate.

Maria gave a smile. She realized this guy was no threat, and he was a genuine newby. Damit. I can't have fun breaking this guy, he's like a puppy. She gave a silent sigh. "Maria." The charming girl said. Requip. Maria thought, and the sword disappeared with another flash of light.

Jarod grinned at the girl--Maria--and silently Ooh-ed when she made the sword disappear. He held out his hand for her to shake. "I'm Jarod," he said. What's her house, he wondered to himself. Does she gave a boyfriend? Is he cute? The fifteen-year-old poured out all sorts of questions inside.

Maria, being a "people person" could tell the boy was about to burst with questions or excitement. "Jarod. That's a nice name." She shook his hand. "Ya know, sometimes like can kinda get boring. It's nice to meet new people every once in a while." She stated, though it really depended on the person she met. That would determine if they would be noted as a friend or enemy.

Jarod nodded in agreement about the meeting new people thing. "Yeah," he said. "So, what does one do for fun around here?" He put his hands in his pockets and looked around. "Is there, like, a rec center?" He remembered his old town's--Newton, Kansas; the Hudsons had only just moved to Sawyer this summer so they could be closer to their little boy--rec center, all the good times he had there. He met his best friend there, and had his first kiss there, and his best friend went into labor there.

"Well, they have a pretty big gym. So ya, I'd say they have a rec center." She said. "I've only been there a few times. But, they also have a battle arena where you can practice your power." Maria pointed out. "But between you and me, that place could use an upgrade." She whispered teasingly, thinking of the arena.
