Whoop There It Is {//Closed}

He had been careful not to jostle Keirsta very much, the tendency to vomit recently had him on edge. It wasn't just that he was scared to be thrown up on. No one wants that. But the past few days had seemed the same. Throwing up early in the morning, repeatedly until around noon. That was when she felt better. It was round mid day when Leo brought Keirsta in. She hadn't heaved in a few hours so he thought it was safe to move her.

True to his word, he had gotten her down to the infirmary. Although he wasn't sure why he hesitated to do it for so so long. Leo did realize that it could have been a stomach bug, food poisoning, the like. So he waited it out. Those things go away with time, right? Yet they seemed to have continued for much longer than normal. The putrid smell of vomit still could reach his nose despite his best efforts with air freshener.

As gentle as possible, he set Keirsta on her feet. His arm wrapped around her waist to keep her up. Not wanting to keep her standing there for long, he pushed the door open and lead her inside. Blue eyes wondered around the room for the nurse. It looked empty as he entered. Maybe the nurse was in the back? Leo guided Keirsta to a chair, and sat her down. "How do you feel?" His voice was still as gentle when he first found out she was sick. His tone towards her has not changed in the few days. Always laced in worry.

There was indeed one nurse on duty at the time and he had been in the back seated at his desk, flipping through a few old medical textbooks that he'd found in the dusty back areas of the library. He had kept an ear open for the door still the entire time. The light chime of the bell hung above the infirmary frame had alerted him to the presence of new patients. Thankfully, the young man didn't keep them waiting for long.

Ethan was up on his feet in a moment's notice, walking down the halls and turning a quick corner to find the two prefects waiting in one of the wooden seats pushed up against the wall. "Everything alright?" He called, approaching the two and gazing down at the girl, whom was clearly the ill one of the pair. "What seems to be the problem?"

Keirsta hadn’t wanted to do much else then lean against Leo, the security of being against him not something she wanted to risk losing. As they went down to the infirmary, she had stayed true to her own word of not doing anything other than staying close to him… And not to vomit. The feeling of bile rising in the back of her throat wasn’t lovely, but she did her best to keep swallowing it down with gulps of air and saliva.

As she was set down on her feet inside the infirmary, the only thing she did was wrap one of her arms around him to stay against him. All of the vomiting had left her a bit more weak than she liked, along with the fact that she was definitely a bit thinner. Food wasn’t exactly something on her mind, as the stomach acid from vomiting so much had certainly made it soar to swallow.

Keirsta turned her head towards him at his question, her head shaking and a smile pressing up against her lips. ”Just great~ Peachy, even.” The waver in her voice certainly said something otherwise, but she was at the infirmary. Everything would be good, wouldn’t it? She’d be fine, nothing wrong with her, and she’d get to go back to her dorm, rest for a day, and then get back to classes.

Her gaze turned towards the nurse, a hand running through her messy pink locks that had been washed the day prior. Putting her head in her hands after sitting down, she let out a groan as her stomach threw a dizzying punch-like feeling. Damn cramps…

”I-I’ve just been throwing up for awhile... “

A hesitant laugh escaped Leo. At least she still had some humor in her. It seemed Keirsta had a bit of humor no matter what. The thought made a sliver of a smile cross his face, casting away a worried one what had recently taken a hold of his face since she had gotten sick. Maybe he came across as overbearingly worried. He didn't mean to. It was all a habit of his.

Hell. Whenever anyone was hurt or sick he found himself hovering over them constantly, as if trying to find a way to help. Pepper, who had gotten hurt twice in his presence was a good example of this. Even when Aleta was sick as a child, she had told him that he was too annoying. Leo's father would have to shoo him from the room. But that hasn't ever stopped him before.

The slight smile dropped as Ethan arrived, the worried appearance slipping back into place. He let her answer before sporting his own, figuring that Ethan would like a little bit more detail than what Keirsta said. "She's been throwing up early in morning, then it goes away by mid day or so. It's been going on for a few days now." His blue eyes stayed on Ethan, trying to anticipate his response.

Awkwardly, the young man began to bend down, trying to get on level with the hutched-over girl whilst trying to keep most of the pressure off of his bad leg. He ended up awkwardly leaning against the side of the small table beside where they sat. It would've looked comical, hadn't the situation been so serious. Ethan smiled a bit at her sarcasm, although it wasn't his sense of humor, he admired her stubborn will.

He had brought his hand up to brushed against her forehead, and while she may have felt sick, her head wasn't particularly warm. There was no sweating, or was her skin red. She wasn't shivering, or at least, it didn't appear like it. He ruled out the possibility of a fever fairly quickly, standing up straight again.

When Leo spoke, he tried not to look surprised. It didn't work very well, there was only one thing that came to mind then, and it had clearly caught him off guard. "I-is that so...?" Ethan never was a great actor. Quickly, he took a few steps back, looking somewhat awkward even. "Just wait one moment." He called, disappearing into the back. Of course, of course, he had to have been the only one on duty then. Where was the head nurse when you needed her? Or Kayla, at least. She was a girl, wasn't she? She could've handled this better.

After several minutes, once Ethan had found what he'd needed and gathered himself together, he appeared again. The winter cleared his throat. "Take this," he muttered quietly, reaching for Keirsta's hand and setting a small object in her palm. It was still in it's plastic wrapper, tall and thin, and covered in small pink print. A pregnancy test. "There's a restroom in the first patient's room. Take her in there." He muttered to Leo. And don't freak out. D8

It took Keirsta only a second to understand what it was that Ethan had handed her. Biting her lip, Keirsta had nodded. Memories on what had happened after the formal hit her head like a brick, and her knowledge on pregnancies. It all lined up, and suddenly... She was worried.

Having heard what Ethan had said to Leo, she made up her mind. Grasping it tightly, she got up and looked towards Leo. "You can stay here, I'll be fine... I'll be right back." She said, a small smile crossing her lips as she made her way towards the restroom without another word. That was another thing too, she knew her way around the school, and what was inside the infirmary from her time of volunteering.

Disappearing into the restroom with a soft click behind her, it was about five minutes before she came out. Her hair and been taken out of its messy ponytail, and stray tears fell across her face. A paper towel was wrapped around the test, and her other hand kept wiping them away from her face. Straightening up, it didn't take long to locate the two young men. Doing her best to look "professional," she faced both her boyfriend and the part-time nurse.

"L-Leo... Here..." She handed the wrapped test to her boyfriend, and waited for him to shriek.

The way Ethan reacted to that was not entirely promising. It certainly didn't seem like it was normal, especially with the hesitance that the nurse showed. As if he wasn't already worried for her well being. Was she sick with some rare illness? Was Keirsta going to have to be hospitalized? A terminal illness? Preferably just a weird flu? Or just a stomach bug with a schedule? Like it had to go to terrorize another person, and would be back by the end of the night? What was actually happening was the last thing on his mind.

The object was handed to his girlfriend, and he couldn't help but stare at it as Ethan talked. That wasn't...what he thought it was. No. Maybe not? A twinge of nervousness coursed through him as Keirsta left towards the bathroom without him. The blond had taken a step to follow after her, but stopped there. What else could Ethan have handed her to have her go to the bathroom? It couldn't be a tampon. Those looked different, and this was flatter...

She couldn't be pregnant, right? They hadn't- Leo stopped his thoughts there, shuffling his feet as they waited. His blue eyes seemed to glance towards where Keirsta disappeared then to the ground. He was certain they didn't. Leo knew that he would remember something like that, and would have stopped it before it happened. That, and without a doubt he was sure that Keirsta wouldn't have cheated on him. He trusted her. Continuously listing the reasons why it was not the case, Leo had calmed himself down by the time Keirsta had come back out. Everything would be fine. She wasn't pregnant.

The five minutes seemed like an eternity, a very stressful eternity. The sound of the door lead him to look up, expecting to see Keirsta relieved. Nothing wrong, everything would be fine. Yet her face caused his heart to drop. He didn't like the tears, he didn't like the disheveled look. He didn't like how she tried to wipe them away. His heart rose to his throat as the test was placed into his hands. Wide eyes stared back at her with a look of shock. He didn't need to look to know the answer. But Leo wanted to see for his own eyes.

Hesitatingly, he looked back down at wrapped test. Peeling back the paper towel between his pointer finger and thumb, the blond swore that his heart stopped. Everything was not going to be okay. Keirsta was pregnant. "How?" He breathed, voice lacking any strength. "When...?" Leo hadn't had sex before, and believed in waiting before doing anything like that. But even then, he didn't think that Keirsta would cheat on him. He trusted her.

If anything he was scared. Not just for himself, but Keirsta. She was way too young and had her entire life ahead of her. When did this happen? Who is the father? How? Maybe the test was broken? It happened before, hadn't it? Blue eyes tore away from the test, only catching a small glance at Ethan, then his eyes were on Keirsta. Frightened, and in needing of answers.

Ethan quietly shuffles through paperwork on the front desk for the few minutes that the young woman had disappeared into the back for. If what he suspected was true, then it was certainly a complicated circumstance not only for the two young prefects, but for their families, and for the entire school as well. He'd have to let people be notified immediately.

Once the pink-hair woman finally returned, her hands shaking and teats staining her cheeks, he had all the answers he needed. The Winter stayed quiet, looking over the two mortified Autumns, and stepped clear out of their way. "You two talk amongst yourselves, you need time, I'm sure. I have phonecalls I need to make," Ethan gave them one last, long solemn look before disappearing into the back.
