Magic didn't even flinch as the blood was spat on his face. He just held this dark, uncaring look on his face. He didn't even have to look to know that Maria was backing up to fight him. His eyes looked at Maria from the side. Axes huh? Unless she had some ranged weapon then she would have to get close to fight him if she wanted to deal any real damage. He quickly ducked down one the ax was thrown. He didn't even look back to the ax as it fell to the ground behind him. "You're picking a fight with me kid?" He said in a low voice.

He turned to face the girl. "You have made a terrible mistake." He didn't get second place in the tournament for no reason. If he kept a certain distance the girl wouldn't be able to touch him unless she kept throwing weapons at him. The winter prefect opened his mouth, and let out a yell that would cause pain on impact, and push the girl back as well.

PostSubject: Re: A Pretty Regular Day.. Birthday.. [Open]   A Pretty Regular Day.. Birthday.. [Open] - Page 3 EmptyThu Mar 31, 2016 9:40 pm

The pain had dulled, but his insides were still reforming themselves. He sat there on his knees, uncaring of the world around him, and took deep breaths, calming himself. He shifted a little, and remembered he had a vial of Velocity X still in his sweatshirt pocket. Painfully slow, he reached into the pocket and dug out the VX. With the VX was the injection gun. He pushed up the sleeve of his left arm and grimaced as the drug was injected into his arm. It took a few moments, but soon, his body began vibrating as the extra speed coursed through his body, upping his healing as well. Within a few minutes he would be fine, and the speed enhancer wouldn't wear off for hours. He spit out a bit more blood onto the ground before slowly and groggily getting up, just in time for Magic to send a wave of sound towards Maria and he noticed Lamia standing not far behind. Without thinking, he took off at top speeds, barely reaching Lamia and pushing her out of the way before the sound hit him and sent him sailing backwards, effectively knocking the breath out of his lungs. He laid there on his back, staring up at the sky, as his already damaged organs continued to get damaged.

What had made him do something as reckless as that? He didn't even know Lamia. All he knew about her was that she was Barry's friend, almost like a sister to his twin. He thought about it as he stared up at the sky, breathing in slowly, completely oblivious to the world around him. Was it the fact that she reminded him of Rose? The fact that they were both shy and incredibly quiet? He couldn't be certain. Thankfully he had injected the Velocity X when he did, otherwise he would never had been able to stand, let alone save Lamia from getting hit from Magic's careless sound attack.

He... he was kidding, right?

Magic wasn't actually going to go through his threat. There was no way that he would actually harm a student because they provoked him. He knew better than to do that and if the connection between this boy and Barry was more than meets the eye, it had to mean they were related; would he really hurt someone that was so similar to one of his closest friends, someone who could be important to Barry? The last time she saw him attack someone else was back in the forest when he wasn't even in control of himself... he wouldn't hurt someone on purpose like this. Not over something like this. He couldn't. But every action that happened after his silent ultimatum proved her wrong in every way possible. A flick of the wrist, unhesitatingly placing it on the boy's shoulder, she couldn't tell her own fingers slowly tightened and clutched the uniform's tie, scarcely a few millimeters away from her chest and he was still smiling.

Her lips thinned as she watched the scene unfold. Anyone logical would've possibly said that it was out of her control, that it wasn't her fault, but scenario after scenario played where she should've stepped in. When they started threatening each other, when the tension started growing so thick that a knife could cut right through it, when Magic took the step forward to deal the heavy blow. The sickening, gurgling sounds that rang out followed by the coughing fits were enough to make her want to get over there and stop before anything else happened, but her eyes widened at the sight of red. Blood, the crimson sticky liquid that oozed and teemed in her mind, a reminder of the past. Why? Adeline's eyes fluttered to a close, forcing herself to mentally count to ten before any flashbacks occurred. This wasn't the time to lose her composure. She had to do something. Don't think back to France, don't think back to the airport, don't think, don't think, don't think.

Within the few moments her vision had obscured itself, the boy from before had dropped to the ground in a weakened state and an ax could be found dangerously close to Magic's feet, Maria holding its partner within her tight grasp. Everything was too much of a blur, too fast, was it a headache now? Was she getting lightheaded? One pace back and she found herself frozen and petrified on the spot, as still as a marble statue that would never get the chance to budge, as she saw Magic's mouth open up. She couldn't outrun any of his attacks, she knew that. There wasn't any point in moving. She had taken the blow before. It wasn't that bad, not feeling anything. It proved to be a slight inconvenience, but if she got hurt, there wasn't anything that would really harm her. Fall and stand back up like nothing had happened.

But that didn't happen.

Someone pushed her out of the way.

The tremendous force used knocked her off her feet again, the jerking motion that had made her eyes shut down reflexively. Carefully, cautiously, she tried to sit up a bit and in front of her was the boy Magic had attacked first. At a closer look, she could spot the differences between him and Barry outside of the colors. The hardened and trained look of a warrior, someone who was sturdy and had endured a number of events that most people wouldn't go through throughout his short lifetime, the edges of scars lacing the back of his neck. She opened her mouth to say something, anything, - a 'thank you', a 'sorry', just something to say, but even if she tried, no sound. Instead, Adeline averted her gaze, bangs overshadowing her eyes to stop herself from staring any longer. Nonono. Why did he...? He shouldn't have. She could've taken the blow. He had already suffered enough damage.

Her fingers reached out, a tiny yellow glow emitting from her fingertips but they dissipated into thin air almost immediately. Too weak. Adeline wasn't sure whether it was the shock or overwhelming guilt or apprehension or dread creating a maelstrom within her, but she couldn't keep a hold on healing. Was there a limit to how much she could give out? There shouldn't be, should there? There had never been a problem before, yet she couldn't do anything right here. She bit down on her lips harder, subconsciously glancing over to Magic before shaking her head.

No use thinking about it now. The boy in front of her, she could see whatever visible bruises or open cuts were reforming, stitching the skin and lessening the swelling right before her eyes. That confirmed it. Barry had something similar. They were related. Their healing was quick, almost as though it were simple regeneration. Her gift would've only jumpstarted it. That didn't stop her from being guilty and being so helpless.

What was she thinking? If she had just stepped to the side a bit or tried to move, he wouldn't have had to push her out of the way. Stupidstupidstupid, goddammit. Had she no sense? Magic would've... would've... he wouldn't actually do something more if he accidentally hurt her, did she? This was already enough as is. Taking a deep breath, Adeline got to her feet, offering her hand to Edward to help him up, the faintest of smiles etching her features. Hopefully it was a nice enough smile. Stop being useless. She should stop being so craven and stupid all the time. That would be a good change. Take her out of the picture already.

Bracing herself, Maria was soon pushed back by a powerful force. She managed keep her balance, although her muscles were suddenly sore and her ears rang. Shit. Everything was blurry, but Maria needed to keep standing. "Guess I am." She replied with a grin, her sight returning back to normal. Now, she was a little ways away from Magic and realized sound can only travel so far. Taking a few steps back, she quickly thought of what to requip.

Perfect! I'll give them a glimpse of what I've been working on. For a while, Maria had been practicing a small evolution in her gift that would come in handy. Along the way she had beaten herself up quite a bit, but was positive that she was ready. The axes disappeared and three small throwing knives appeared in Maria's hands. They might be small, but with her aim, they could travel a good distance and hurt. Waiting till he least expected it, the girl simultaneously threw them at the prefect. Usually, when she'd let go of her weapons, they would vanish too soon or go back to the portal. Now, if she focused hard enough, Maria was able to keep them out for a longer period of time and have them reappear in her hands instead of having to requip again, making battles much less of a hassle.

PostSubject: Re: A Pretty Regular Day.. Birthday.. [Open]   A Pretty Regular Day.. Birthday.. [Open] - Page 3 EmptySun Apr 03, 2016 8:23 pm

Well the thing was, Magic was expecting anything so it would be hard to catch the boy off guard. He had been in so many fights it was kind of hard not to expect something to change in an instant. And the thing about weapons is that they moved in a straight line most of the time, and throwing them all at once she clearly didn't account for a moving target. The boy rolled forward successfully avoiding the knives with ease, and got to his feet just as easily. "You are going to have to try harder if you want to hit me girly."

He had noticed Ed move, but he wasn't exactly paying attention to that. In a fight you never take your eyes off your opponent, well unless you have multiple attackers. He couldn't let anything distract him cause that would cause him to be injured, and he didn't need that. He couldn't get close or else he would end up with an axe in his shoulder or something. His advantage was distance. He took a step forward and let lose another yell.

Ed wasn't expecting a second yell. However, the sound of it brought him back to his senses, and he rolled out of the way using his speed. Both him and his twin could outrun sound. The speed of sound was only around 767 miles per hour, and Ed could run nearly twice that, while Barry topped out at about 800 miles per hour. He lied next to Lamia, both of them safely out of the way of the psycho's sound attack. "We need... to get... out of here..." he said, taking raggedly breaths. His organs were still healing from Magic's first attempt at attacking him. After taking a few moments to gather his strength, he stood up, albeit weakly. He stuck a hand out to the smaller girl. "I'm going to get you out of here." he told her with a little bit more strength than before. "We don't want Stein over there to see you get hurt, now would we?" He knew that Magic and Lamia had something between them, Barry had noticed it and so had he. Magic was very protective over this girl.

PostSubject: Re: A Pretty Regular Day.. Birthday.. [Open]   A Pretty Regular Day.. Birthday.. [Open] - Page 3 EmptySat Apr 16, 2016 11:59 pm

ooc;; the main reason I delayed this was because I wasn't sure how to respond. Wanted to keep thinking about it further, but it's been way too long since I last posted. Sorry for the subpar reply. Q-Q

The flash of metal, the malicious glint reflecting off its steel surface, only inviting the victim to come ever closer and let the sharp tip pierce the surface of flesh and draw the droplets of crimson red to an eternal trickle - that wasn't something she could keep her eyes on anymore. Watching those two fight each other for a reason that was blurring and becoming hazy in her mind was becoming too much when Maria had pulled out weapons that were clearly meant to kill. First, the ax. Secondly, knives. It wasn't that Maria actually wanted to kill Magic or anything, there was no way she would want that, but her weapon choices were beginning to reach a point bordering upon too dangerous to be used. As a prefect, those were items she should confiscate and get checked with the school, right? She was supposed to ensure everyone's safety and limit the violence taking place. She was supposed to make sure that nobody was abusing their abilities to use against each other.

Adeline tore her gaze away from the scene, lips trembling as she forced her eyes to shut to a close. Listening was all she could do right now. No screaming, no shouting, no begging them to just stop whatever they were doing. This was all getting out of hand and bystanders had fled the area with the only people still involved not showing a point where they would actually stop one another from doing anymore damage. She was so useless. So absolutely useless in this aspect. Not once had she managed to effectively do her job with a position she was entrusted to by the staff members. Every single goddamn time, it was letting people get away without so much as a warning. A pushover, a doormat. Why the hell did they give her this job? She wasn't fit for it. Her charisma, social grace, presence... everything about her didn't work for a prefect.

She wasn't the leader type. She wasn't the kind that could get along with everyone and naturally make them feel welcomed. She wasn't the sort of person to be given that amount of power and responsibility. All she managed to do was help as much as she could and yet, it always paled in comparison.

No. Enough. Stop focusing on yourself, you moron. There was something more important than being selfish and egocentric.

Listening in, she could hear Magic, who was provoking the fight even further. It seemed unnecessary, egging it on and wanting this to continue for a longer duration of time. Was there really a need to try and hurt Maria? Was there really a need to do any of this? She was trying to reason with herself, saying that he must have had some sort of personal vendetta or something, anything that would justify his behavior right now. Maria must have something as well. They were both good people, they were both capable of doing what's morally right. Something could've made them snap or well... It seemed so wrong. There had to be a reason. There had to be.

Blue eyes snapped open just in time to see the other boy take her hand and pull her down again, barely avoiding another sound attack that emitted from Magic's direction. Adeline barely had time to brace herself or get into a position to minimize injuries, only reflexively finding her body falling backwards. No pain, like always. Unfeeling. Numb to the core. How pathetic it was, to be in this kind of condition. But that was okay. She had subjected herself to this, didn't she? For the sake of others, it was fine if she took the damage instead. Tilting her head upwards, it seemed Barry's lookalike - no, she had to stop referring to him as that - had already stood up and was offering to help her get back on her feet. Adeline refused to look again, eyes trailing to the concrete floor and back to the fight that was taking place. A part of her mind was saying Take it while the other refused. Her gift could activate, but it would be impolite not to accept his kind gesture.

She shook her head, getting up on her own accord. Better to be safe than sorry. There it was again, fiddling with her own fingers and awkwardly digging the ball of her foot into the ground, hoping that it would hit a secret escape button that would open up a black hole that would suck her into an abyss that would never let her out. Didn't want Magic to see her get hurt? Wait, what? For a few brief moments, Adeline turned to acknowledge her savior, eyes widened in an almost owlish-manner. How did he come to that conclusion...? And how did he even know that they knew each other before this? She was just a random bystander in the end. She hadn't done much. Magic hadn't even addressed her by name yet and she hadn't said a word. Her lips thinned. Couldn't respond.

There was no way she was leaving yet. Maybe she'll move out of the way for the fight, but she wasn't going to just do nothing while those two were engaged in combat. Someway to stop the fight... someway to stop the fight... What was it? Getting into physical contact wasn't the answer. No verbal options were available. Her mind was grasping for any solution that could be remotely possible. There were two. One was to step in between the fight and be a physical barricade to stop them. The other was to drain their time and force them to be unable to have the strength to continue. Neither was an appealing option.

Make a choice already, idiot.

There had to be something...!

This should be interesting. Glancing to Ed and Adeline, she didn't say a word to them and turned back to Magic. Sound... what did she know about sound... Thinking fast, she wondered how it would even be possible to beat this guy.

Distance.

Seeing him get ready to holler again, Maria gave a huff and ran the opposite direction of Magic. She wouldn't be able to outrun sound, but if she could get some distance, at least she would've go deaf. Still smiling, she skidded to halt, turning around to face him once again. With a flash of light, a couple small flash grenades appeared in her hands. Might as well have some fun. "Heads up!" She yelled/laughed, chucking one of the little bombs at the prefect. It landed with a clunk. Although she was a distance from him, she covered her eyes, leaving a little slit between her fingers. Boom.

PostSubject: Re: A Pretty Regular Day.. Birthday.. [Open]   A Pretty Regular Day.. Birthday.. [Open] - Page 3 EmptyTue Apr 26, 2016 7:40 pm

As soon as he saw what appeared in her hands, his face paled. He began to back paddle but there was no way he couldn't get away from being effected by the small bombs. Yeah he could deal without his sight easily but it was the loud sound that the explosion would cause that would mess him up. It would kill his ears. There was no way he could get enough distance that it wouldn't kill his ears, and leave his hearing a ringing mess. As soon as the bombs went off, he was blinded, but that wasn't the concern. His hands shot up to his ears, and he let out a loud scream that was amplified by his gift.

So... so painful.... He thought as he fell to the to his knees clutching the sides of his head tightly. His ears were going to be hurting for a while after this, he wouldn't be able to hear for a short time. God he wouldn't be able to do anything about this. He needed to hear more than he needed his sight. He opened on of his eyes looking at Maria ready to take action in case she came closer. Though a certain white hair necromancer stepped in between him, and Maria. A big skeleton looming over her.

Destiny had caught the attention of a fleeing student, and it didn't take long to find out what was going on. Clearly the male winter prefect was too pissed off to think rationally, and the female winter prefect was hurt or something? The student wasn't exactly too clear on what was going on aside from the fact that one of the winter prefects was fighting an autumn students, and things were going pretty badly. Putting all of her energy into summoning Legado, she raced over to the courtyard soon to be joined by the giant skeleton.

When she got within seeing range of the fight a bright flash blinded her for a moment, earning a rumble like growl from the giant skeleton behind her which she called Legado. He was quite defensive of it's master now that she managed to tame it. She quickly recovered her vision and raced to stand between the two. "That is enough! Both of you are scaring students and disrupting peace!" She was sure this fight didn't happen unprovoked there had to be a good reason that the winter prefect was pissed off, though right now he seemed to be in a lot of pain. "You are both coming with me to the office!" She mentally ordered for the giant skeleton to pick up the two students, which it did so, but it was gentle. It wasn't going to crush either of them. The necromancer looked at the two other students, who had managed to stay in the area. "You two should go back to your dorms, these two will be fine if you are concerned about either of them being hurt." She said and then turned and left, the skeleton following after her with the two students.
