Round 5: 'Magic' Stein vs. Kayla Croft

It didn't feel real. She'd been striving toward this since she first arrived at this school, but now that she was there, it was like it hadn't even registered in her head. Kayla glanced around the school, drinking in all the familiar sights. The bricks, the way the water shimmered, the pompous iron gates, the grit under her shoes. And there was him. Magic. All quiet brooding and stone cold stoicism. Had things gone differently last year, maybe they would've squared off before for this title. It didn't make a different. She knew him, and he knew her. After this, it'd all end, for better or worse. Kayla felt a flint of heat in her gut, looking down at her hands as electricity coursed around her fingers. That last match, she... I strangled him...

She grit her teeth, breathed in, and let the thought dissipate with a hot sigh. There wasn't any time to think about anything but her and Magic. Kayla reached up to adjust her hat, electricity whipping out around her. This was always the logical conclusion. Now she just had to prove that she was the strongest. She curled her fingers into a fist and looked up at him, her mouth a hard line.

"This is it, then."

He had been here before. He had been apart of the final round before. He had grown with his gift since then. Though he wished it was Hosa standing before him instead of Kayla. Oh well he had Kayla as his opponent and it was going to be tough, but he wasn't going to lose. He didn't care if Kayla had the ability to strike from long ranges. He didn't care about how he would win, he just refused to lose. He would keep going until his fake last breath, and every second til then he would be giving it his all.

He looked up at the girl across from him. His gray-green eyes narrowed at her. His fingers itched for this fight to cause some damage. All he had to wait on was that indicator the judges gave to start the match. As soon as he heard that he would take action, and he could only assume she would as well. He was ready for anything.

As soon as Magic heard that thing that let them know it was time to start the fight, the bo opened his mouth and lot out a sound attack. He knew that something else was going to be coming his way so he stayed light on his feet in preparation for what would be coming.

No words. Well, if it was going to be that way... The signal blared, and right off the bat, Kayla was sent stumbling backwards from a concussive pulse of sound that went ripping through the air, roaring like wind. She grit her teeth, grinding her shoes against the pavement. Kayla thrust her hand forward, finger pointed, and snapped, loosing a bolt down her arm in a blast of light.

He was right about her attacking as soon as he did. The winter stepped to the side using sound to boost his speed, which allowed him to narrowly miss the bolt. Though he could still feel the power from it. The feel of electricity in the air. He didn't have time to be observing this, turning to the girl again he let another powerful sound attack go, but moved as soon as he released it, he didn't need to be getting hit.

A second blast of sound. This time, she went falling backwards, twisting and rolling before she hit the ground, pulling herself onto her knees. She tracked him as he ran with an unnatural speed, electricity surging down her arm in a rapid succession of shots. Snap! Snap! Snap! Snap! One after another, lightning streaking through the air in bright blue flashes.

He had landed to hits so far but it didn't seem to do any damage. He would have to get closer if he wanted to cause more damage, but that was going to be hard to do seeing how he was being chased by bolts from the other person. It was a bit too risky to head straight for her. His only choice was to get gradually closer, so he did.

Kayla stood to her feet, still snapping as he edged closer and closer. Snap! Snap! Snap! Electricity cracked out like gunshots, her jaw clenched as the lightning lit up her features. She began to step backwards, trying to keep some distance between them.

Alright this was taking too much time. He was going to have to risk getting hit just to get close. He slowed down and ducked allowing a bolt to go by. Once it clear he closed the distance a hand drawn back to deliver a sound filled punch to the girl. He was prepared for electricity to fill his body, and was ready to deal with it.

He closed the distance, swinging. Brace! The fist smashed into her stomach, and Kayla almost went doubling over from the impact, swallowing bile and blood. That wasn't a normal punch. It was more like getting hit by a freight train. Electricity coursed around her, but she didn't let herself fall, throwing her hand out to clasp him by the wrist. WRISTHOLDING DESTINY.

Magic flinched and wanted to reel back as soon as she grabbed him, but the electricity from her prevented him from doing so. It made his muscles tense, and it was painful. Though he pushed the pain aside and forced his muscles to cooperate. Using his other hand, he grabbed her hand and peeled it away from his wrist, and released her hand. He followed up the action with a sound filled kick. HANDHOLDING DESTINY

As soon as they broke apart and the kick took her in the side, Kayla went tumbling to the ground with a choked gasp of pain, pain shooting through her whole body. As she hit the bricks, she thrust out her arm again, snapping from the ground and loosing another lightning bolt, even through the haze of pain.

He didn't expect her to send another bolt his way after she was sent tumbling to the ground. He tried to run, but it was much fast than him, and this time he wasn't constantly moving. He felt the jolt of electricity as the blast hit him, which caused him to stumble slightly but he soon recovered. He couldn't afford to delay. He couldn't let her recover. He opened his mouth and sent out a closeish ranged sound attack.
