Take it Easy

It was one of those nights.  Everyone had them once in awhile, but she despised them just the same.  Her somewhat short cut brown hair was in a shaggy mess, her normally bright hazel eyes were dulled with exhaustion, dark circles sat under her eyes like the attempted sleep punched her square in the face.  She was wearing one of her various tanktops for sleeping, this one a soft black one with a faded Red Hot Chili Peppers logo plastered across the torso, old plaid pajama pants on her legs and nothing on her feet.  She rubbed her eyes, she had traveled the halls of the Spring dorm for a good half hour, looking for a nice enough place to find herself when she found herself at the intersection of all the dorms, the lounge room.  She hoped she wasn't about to walk in on anyone banging in the middle of the night, she was sure a good amount of people had probably done it at this ungodly hour.  She stepped softly up to the door, putting an ear to the door, not hearing even the squeak of a mouse in the room before her.  She quickly reached down and pushed down on the doorknob, stepping into the for some reason, still lit room.  Some sod must've left the light on, lucky that this place seemed like one of the richer institutions in  rural Kansas.  She slowly made her way into the lounge room, looking around with a small sigh escaping her lips as she made her way to the larger couch furthest from the door, she groaned lightly as she eased onto the cushioned seat.

She rubbed her face as she let in a deep breath, stretching out slightly and enjoying the foreboding silence of the room.  She could talk your ear off, but sometimes an eerily quiet room was just needed to relax a bit.  She slowly eased herself to lie on the couch, placing her head on the armrest and looking to the ceiling, her tired eyes examining all the patterns and details of the top part of the building as her legs moved impatiently.  It was too late to be restless, her lack of sleep was getting to her but she just couldn't close her eyes and sleep for the life of her.  This was going to be long night, sure the quiet was nice but she had a lot of time to kill, maybe she'd sneak to the pool or something...but this couch was so comfortable...

Inari sat on her bed, hugging her knees as she buried her face in them. Her whole body shook as she took deep, uneven breaths in an attempt to calm herself. She had just awoken from a nightmare. Her golden eyes flickered up as she pushed her blanket off of her and slide off of her bed, unwilling to even attempt to sleep again after another nightmare. She didn't understand, she just didn't understand as she slowly open the door to her room and slide out into the darken living room. After closing her door, she easily moved across the room as she recalled where exactly everything was. Then, she stepped into the hallway of the Autumn dorms. She leaned against the door, wondering what she should with herself when she remembered the lounge. That would be a peaceful place to sit and think, and so she wasted no moments before moving down the hallway without a sound.

It took a few minutes before she reached the lounge, but wasted no minutes stepping in. The lights were on, startling her but she quickly brushed it off as she headed toward the couch...Before she froze. Her fox ears perked up when she spotted her - another student laying on the couch. Her golden eyes flickered toward the door, wondering if she should just head back to her dorm and not disturb this person but...Inari paused. Company would be nice...She swallowed as she turned to focus on the student once again. "Um...Hello."

Sloane flinched slightly, her eyes flipping open...she hadn't even realized they were closed.  She let out a small sigh that met itself with a long winded yawn as she rubbed her face and slowly began to sit up.  She let her legs slide off of the couch as she blinked a couple times, her sleeplessness taking a toll on her.  She let her hazel eyes drift to the girl's gold, stretching slightly when she'd notice something...she had a pair of fox-like ears atop her head!  She tilted her head slightly, narrowing her eyes slowly before she'd shrug.

She'd never seen a gift like that before, most people have something that full on changes them or manipulation, but what she had seemed permanent...odd.  She couldn't get her eyes away from her ears, she was too tired to honestly care so she softly waved to her as she spoke "Mornin'...Night, wahever it is."  She decided to clear the air, rubbing her face again before gesturing above her own head where the ears on the girl found themselves with a flick of the index finger "S'up wit da ears n'at. Looks cool, yinz have control over 'em?"  Normally she could control the accent a bit but she was, once again, too tired to care...It wasn't that bad, was it?  It's what she always heard back home, people would get used to it eventually.  Her hazel eyes lazily shifted between the girl's ears and her eyes from time to time as she awaited her to speak, running a hand through her already unkempt hair only accomplishing to make it look worse.

Inari smiled sheepishly at the girl as she seemed to wake up, feeling guilty of disturbing her. However, she didn't seem to mind as she greeted her. She however was taken aback by the accent, her golden eyes winding as she attempted to understand what exactly she said. She gathered most of it but even after repeating it a few times in my head, failed to understand one or two of the words. So, she simply went with what she had as she let out a soft laugh. "Its...Ah, the middle of the night," she said as she rubbed her neck with a soft smile, her tail flickering. "As for the ears, yeah...I do have control of them." She flickered one of her ears for good measure before she frowned softly at the girl. "I'm...Um...Sorry for disturbing you."

Sloane raised an eyebrow, a small smirk on her lips as her tail seemed to act with her emotions and thoughts as well.  She let a small breath escape her lips, as she looked around the well lit room for a moment before returning her gaze to the...catgirl? Girlcat?  Fuckin' Feline Female.  She kept her gaze for a moment as she gestured to the chair adjacent to the couch, a small smile on her lips "Woll yinz can't unawake me, so sit dahn, let's have a chat n'at. The two of us aren't able to sleep anyway."  She let out a small breath from slightly parted lips as she turned back towards the T.V in the room, bringing her hands up into a sloooow stretching yawn, before placing her palms behind her head and stretching her legs slightly.  She brought her legs up to place her bare feet on the coffee table, she turned her head slightly to look towards the general direction of the girl, speaking "Name's Sloane, how's abaht you?
