Stargaze [Closed]

Free time.. He finally had some free time after so long of being ordered around, and being watched constantly. Harley obeyed her promise and gave him some free time around the town while she went to the school to collect information anyway she could. Though since he couldn't go back without Harley's help he was stuck wandering around in Rosebury, much to his disliking. He didn't appreciate the sounds or the noises he was hearing of other's conversations.

Though he would deal with it for a moment as he worked his way towards Diane's hill which he knew to be a quiet place, or at least quieter. His usual dark attire was trained for more casual clothes so he didn't stick out like crazy. Which just ended up being a t-shirt and jeans. His hair had gotten longer since he was last a student here. At this point it looked a lot like Vincent's hair. He was also pretty sure he could have a ponytail if he really wanted. Pulling a hand out of one of his pockets the former student pushed his hand through his hair to make a feeble attempt at getting the black strands out of his face. It would work for a moment before his walking would cause it to fall back into his face.

The boy let out a small sigh as the process of hair falling back into his face already started. Magic stopped on the sidewalk and looked back to where he came from seeing the building of the school in the distance. A little emptiness eating at his inside from missing the place and it's strange everyday occurrences but he had a plan he wanted to go through with and he couldn't do that there.

An early autumn wind blew down the street, sending pale leaves soaring into the sky and sending shivers straight down her spine. She furiously rubbed away at her arms, quelling away what goosebumps she could. The heat had finally been beginning to die down in the quiet town. Dakota had made it her mission to savor every last bit of warmth and light that the year had to offer, donning her best sundress and striding out into town.

A big mistake, she thought, letting out a puff of air.

The young woman thought it too late to turn back down anyways. It wasn't like she'd had anything better to do. She'd kept her emerald eyes forward, awkward avoiding the gazes of the other students that had happened to pass her. The Spring was never the most social person, but she had thought she had found a few friends to keep company with. She hadn't seen Jayden in sometime. Will left her hanging on his pizza offer. And Magic, she hadn't seen him in ages...

Her finger brushed lightly against her lips. She'd been there to cheer him through the tournament from the sidelines and happy to see him after, but then, it couldn't have been too much later that he was gone. Just fell off the face of the earth...

It tore her up, both with worry over him and fretting over her own anxieties. Why would he just disappear? Why hadn't she seen it coming?

Dakota frowned at herself, stepping along the path up to Diane's Hill. Call it cliche, but the place had grown on her. It was almost always lonely and quiet. Fitting, she'd learned, it was a memorial after all. Maybe it was selfish, but she had taken it for herself, giving her a place to let her mind rest and keep to her own thoughts. And daydream even that maybe in the distance and turn the corner and ...

There he stood. For a time, she only stared, wondering if her eyes were playing tricks on her. "... Magic?" She whispered under her breath.

Magic didn't know why he stopped. He shouldn't have. The voices were starting to fill his head again, making it feel like he was eavesdropping on their conversations.. Well he guessed there wasn't much of an issue now if he got any important information out of it, but he doubted anyone would be talking about something important in the middle of Rosebury. The former student let out a small sigh and turned to leave, but froze as a familiar voice sounded above the rest.

Mason turned back around trying to pin point the voice. "Kota?" He figured the girl was upset with him, after he just left all of the sudden without saying anything to her, but he didn't have much of a choice.. Gray green eyes flicked over some others before he finally landed on the familiar girl. He didn't know what to say to her, but he just smiled softly at her hoping she would say something to him, and not ignore him.

Why was it suddenly so hard to breathe all of a sudden? The young woman wavered where she stood, her palms were clammy and she had to wipe the sweat off the side of her dress. He was gone for how long now? One month? Two? Gone without a single word and then suddenly there he was...
And he had the nerve to smile at her.

Dakota felt her mouth go dry. Her cheeks burned and her eyes darted around trying to think of something to say or to do. The right words never came to mind, but she managed to take a few steps forward. Am array of different emotions hit her at once. He didn't want to be ignored? Fine, fine...

As she made her way up the hill, anger started to win her over. She felt hurt. And betrayed. The first guy she'd thought she had something with and he just...!

Dakota swooped down, scooping up a few rocks into her hands and immediately chucking one his way. "You disappear for how long?!" She shouted, throwing a stone at his leg. "And you think you can just come here and smile!?" The Spring huffed, stomping his way up to him, oblivious to the few tears that had quickly made their appearance. "Where have you been?!"

Magic knew instantly from the way she was walking up the hill she was angry. Her footsteps sounded more heavily on the ground. When he saw her sweep down and pick something up at first he didn't know what it was, but as soon as he saw a throwing motion he let out an "Oh shit." and moved out of the way, avoiding the rock that was thrown his direction.

And then she started shouting which caused him to flinch from how loud she was being, and then he felt a pain in his leg. She must have hit his leg when he was distracted from how loud she was being. Luckily for him she didn't throw another one and just decided to confront him. He didn't move from his spot, and took more of a relaxed stance because he wasn't going to argue with her. There was no point in that, because she had every right to be mad.

"I'm sorry.. I wanted to say something before I left, but I didn't have much of a choice.." He stated speaking in a softer tone so hopefully she wouldn't shout anymore. "And I have kind of been everywhere, and I finally had a chance to come back..." Well he wasn't wrong about that. The people he was working with tended to avoid this place. "I'm sorry.." He stated once again with a small frown on his face. He didn't like that he made her so upset. He would have moved to comfort her, but he didn't think she would accept it.

Guilt snagged away at as he cursed and flinched away from her, yet still not enough to halt her in her march. He was the strongest guy in the school, for goodness' sake, the tournament champion... and she'd thought his ever-listening window guardian, for lack of a better name. Dakota clenched and un-clenched her fists, ignoring the warm drops that were now rushing down her cheek.

"What do you mean you didn't have a choice?" She demanded, pushing her arms out and giving him a sharp shove backwards, perhaps a bit harder than she'd originally had meant to, but it didn't matter. "If you were sorry, you wouldn't have - ! You wouldn't have..." Dakota found herself trembling again, whether it was from the cold or from just seeing him there, she wasn't sure. She tore her gaze away from him, wrapping his arms around himself and digging her nails lightly into her skin.

Why would he just...?

Magic could see that they were creating a small scene attracting the attention of a few people who were around, though that wasn't his worry at the moment. The crying angry girl in front of him was. He took a couple steps back when she had pushed him backwards, but still not doing anything to respond to her anger in a bad way. "The people I am working with didn't give me much of a choice.." Being honestly was probably the best option here.

His gray green eyes stayed on the girl, before he moved forward and wrapped his arms around her pulling her into an embrace not caring if she was going to hit him. "I'm sorry.." He stated again. "I'm here now.." He knew it was going to take a lot to fix what he had done, and he was willing to do it if she would give him the chance to make it up to her in some way.

She wasn't sure what was more frustrating: how amazingly vague he was being or how she felt like it didn't matter anyways since she just knew that he wasn't lying. "People?" Dakota muttered under her breath, quickly wiping a few tears away with the back of her hand, near seething. "What people?" That was no excuse. A message? A note? He'd left her nothing.

...Maybe she was being stupid, thinking that he owed her anything at all. She had thought they were something, friends at the least. Strange friends maybe, but... Dakota bit at her lip as he stepped forward, crossing her arms together and stiffening up as he wrapped himself around her.

"For how long?" The stared down at the peak of her feet, her head resting gingerly against him. The Spring had so many damn questions. "How could you? Don't act like you care..." If he cared, he would have said something. How could he be sorry? And so on and so in, her mind circled around, stifling away the bit of joy that was at least so happy to see him again.

Magic didn't really want to answer about the kind of people he was working with, but he was going to anyway. "Not so great people.." He realized he possibly made a mistake with hugging her, but he wasn't going to let go now. He stiffened slightly when she asked how long. He frowned slightly. "Only a few days..." He said softly. He didn't want to leave her again, but he had too.

He let go of her, and placed his hands on her shoulders. "Look.. I do care about you.." He said, if he was just acting then he wouldn't be bothering with her right now. "But the people I'm working with didn't like me having ties with people, so I basically had to cut of communication with anyone I knew.." He let out a small sigh. "This is the first chance I have gotten to talk with anyone outside of work, and I'm here with you." Hopefully that would prove something, he didn't do well with words sometimes..

Not so great people? What was that supposed to mean? Dakota couldn't help but grimace, the slightest image flashing through her mind of men in woman in cheesy black uniforms. Their faces were blurred, every single one of them, she couldn't make out any detail. "What? Did you join a cult or something?" she whispered back, shaking her head in confusion. None of this made any sense to her. "Why can't you stay?"

The Spring felt a small shiver as he stepped back away from her, grabbing onto her bare shoulders and leaving her exposed to the wind again. Another small sniffle escaped her and she glanced back up at those pale green eyes of his. "I'm the one who found you, remember?" she said, the smallest smile breaking through. "You are terrible with words." Perhaps he was lucky in that he didn't have to be good with words with someone around her. Feebly, she smacked him against the chest. "Why...?"

She still had so many questions... This wasn't fair.

A cult? "Yeah you could call it that..." He could tell she had a lot of questions, all of which he wanted to answer, but he didn't exactly feel comfortable answering them out in the open like this. "Look. I will explain somethings if we go somewhere a bit more secluded and there isn't so many people around." He didn't want anyone else listening in on their conversation.

He saw her small smile, and a smile appeared back on his face at the sight of it. He lifted a single hand, and placed a hand on her face. His thumb swiping a tear away off of her cheek before letting her face go. "How about we head back to your dorm or something and we can get you cleaned up, and I can give you some answers.. Sound good?" He asked.

An uncomfortable feeling stirred in around her gut, leaving her feel uncertain and wary, like she was being asked to leave off with by a stranger. Thoughts of strangers in black and super secret dangerous run-offs, everything about it screamed for her to run then, but at the same time she couldn't help but be curious. She had known for sometime there was more to him that met the eye. Dakota told herself that she couldn't be worried, ignoring anything that told her otherwise. Maybe that made her stupid but...

Magic would never hurt her, right? She knew it in the way he spoke, the way he looked and how he thought. Whilst she was still upset with him, she was still hungry for answers and his company above all.

Just the soft touch of his hand on her cheek was enough to send shivers down her body, leaving her feeling almost weightless. So not fair.

"Alright..." She muttered, glancing around at the others that passed by. At least the Spring dorms weren't that far away. Dakota grabbed his hand gingerly, avoiding his gaze amd setting off. "Just don't try to run away between here and there..."

Pink dusted the former students face when she grabbed his hand. He couldn't exactly help it since he wasn't used to people randomly grabbing his hand, or rather being involved romantically with someone. He liked the feel of her smaller hand in his, it was a nice feeling. The last instance that something like that happened was with Adeline, but she didn't care about him, and that was a long time ago. He had someone else now that cared about him, and actually returned some feelings of his. It was a nice sensation, and her hand in his only made his small smile grow a little more.

"I won't run away, and if I was thinking about doing so I'm pretty sure you would know before I would even attempt." He said in a slight joking manner. He wrapped his hand around hers, which already held his hand, just to assure her he wasn't going anywhere, and then set off for the spring dorms.

Once they reached the dorm, and the door was closed behind the pair, Magic closed his eyes and listened for a moment, checking for any sign that he was possibly followed or someone was trying to listen in on their conversation. Lucky for him he didn't run into anyone else he knew on the way to the dorm. Once he was satisfied no one was around, he opened his eyes and let out a small sigh of relief. "Alright, ask away." He didn't exactly know where stuff was so he didn't know what to use about getting the tears off her face.. Maybe he could use the hem of his shirt?

As he made that little joke of his, and his hand tightened around hers, Dakota felt her mind go blank. Heat rushed up into her cheeks and she nearly forgotten what she was doing, or where she was going... Her gaze shot back up at him for a mere moment, mind cluttered with distractions. Ah, that's right. Her room. She bit softly at her lip, keeping an eye-out for anyone who might have noticed him and was somewhat on edge until they had actually reached the dorms.

Once they'd stepped inside, she'd shut the door firmly, letting out a sigh and leaning back against the old wood. He looked around, almost waiting to see if someone was going to pop through the wall and nab them at any moment. "What's with the secrecy?" Kota finally asked, holding back a small sniffle and walking closer up to him. "Why did you go? Why didn't you...?" She felt a small lump in her throat again. The Spring stopped, trying her best to compose herself, but she found herself tearing up again all the same.

Magic let out a small sigh. Getting right to the point.. Yeah he could tell her right? At least some of it.. "Because I'm not even supposed to be at the school right now. Rosebury yeah.. but being here with you right now is going against my orders. I could get in some serious trouble if someone from my group was listening in right now." There was the first question down.

Honestly he was afraid of telling her. He didn't want her to think any differently of him. The actions he was doing with this group... He didn't want to do them, but he wanted to keep the school safe. "I left because this group that I'm in is a bit of a threat to some of the students here at the school.." One of his hands went up to the back of his head, and rubbed slightly as he spoke, putting some of his nervousness else where for a small moment. "And since I like this place.. I decided I wanted to do protect the students in it.. While I could have become a guardian, that's not exactly a good option for me right now since I didn't want to hurt anyone at the school myself.. Like I have done in the past.."

He didn't even know if this was the right thing to say, but it was the truth. "I'm trying to gain their trust at the moment, and I don't have it just yet.. So I'm doing some sort of bad things to gain their trust.. though I really don't want to do them.." He shoved both hands back into the pockets of his jeans, and looked down at the ground. "But this is the safest option for everyone.." Hopefully that answered some of her questions, but she was bound to have more..
