The line to Argona's Force had gone cold. Maisie stuck a hand in her pocket, reading the message over and over from the mysterious Esper account. It was a throwaway, practically anonymous, the alert reading, "Come to the electrical rooftop for your next mission, AF." She had almost forgotten about the enigmatic organization. Terrorizing her uncle, bringing down the school. She bit her chapped lip. It was admittedly not on her mind, but the intrigue of the mystery message kept her on its path. The wind pressured her steps, blew her towards her destination. She might as well check. The worst it could be was a vacant rooftop.
The girl walked up the staircase, one she still wasn't sure was necessarily open to students, the door always open but with a hazy yellow sign adorning it. The steps were shaky and crude, as if their wooden frame would fall at any moment. She dodged a splint on the banister with her hand, ducking a spider hanging precariously from the ceiling. Why did the Argona's Force member want her up there out of all places? Was it a popular meeting spot?
As she exploded out into the cool, open air, lugging the heavy door from its place, she thought back to the times that she and Jonno spent on that rooftop. In fact, she was certain he was the only person who knew of the rooftop's accessibility...
She quickly spun around at a sound behind her.
