| Sitting in the empty Lounge with his short legs hung over the sofa's arm, Chance read some Manga. Although it was odd to see a four year old reading something that was usually graphic, he didn't mind and besides, he needed to practice his Japanese, being in a Japanese class that had a test in a few days. So, in the end, he'd grabbed a book from the library with zero English writing in it but tons of pictures, the child side of his mind taking over and wanting it just for the fun stuff.
So, here he was, staring at a page without a clue at what anything said. Why did it all have to be so different than what he'd learned in class? And why in the world hadn't he brought any of his notes to help him? What sat on the page was like a whole different language to the young boy, although he enjoyed having picked a book about vampires and werewolves.
Letting out a huff, the small child furrowed his brows and glared at the page as if simply looking at it would've helped him. "Ug!" he exclaimed, growing even more impatient. Setting the book down on the his lap, Chance swung his legs off of the arm and sat on the comfy sofa with his arms crossed as he stared at the pile of picture paper. Slightly swinging his legs that didn't quite reach the ground back and forth, Chance contemplated whether to throw the book into the fireplace. Damn books, damn school. To hell with all of it! He wanted to scream.
Although he was technically sixteen, he was still stuck in a child's body and also had the oh so wonderful perks of a child's mind. Angry and feeling defeated, the boy started tearing up like a four year old would. Why did everything always have to be so difficult? Couldn't his power just work for once so he could live a normal high school life?

| Vivian waltzed into the Lounge, deciding that, since it may be nearly empty, she could hang about. What was she powerful for? Vivian had no peculiar abilities that she knew of, so why was she chosen? The students sat down in a leather, relaxation-formatted chair. She rested her arms on the rests, and blinked the brown of her eyes. She sighed, until she saw something.
The usual, jarring sight of a child in distress was something she hadn't come across lately. She leaned back, feeling herself sink into the soft leather. She shut her eyes lazily for a while, before she stood up. She browsed the books, and decided to be candid with this child. Vivian was the person who took books out that she wasn't fond of, when she was afraid that others would judge her for her decision. She snatched it out of the wall, and took a seat.
She opened it, gazing at the inscribed pages. It was a very literate book, and it was about birds. She was planning on purchasing one, anyways. Vivian daintily turned the page, not bothering with Chance. He shouldn't mind, anyways; he was just a stranger to her. Vivian might've seen Chance before, but she didn't know where. All she knew, was that she, and the juvenile boy that stood before her in frustration, were Autumns.
Vivian's eyes traced the elegant juxtaposition of the words. They all danced in her head, and though she was enthralled, she was wary about any sudden motions. If there was one thing you ought to know about Vivian, was that she absolutely loathed abrupt movements. Her fingers pinched the page, pirouetting the sides. Her chocolate eyes glinted, although her disinterest in her surroundings was beginning to become obvious.
She silently hoped that Chance's anger wouldn't escalate into a horrendous wail. It was common with other young children, that this incident would occur. Vivian disliked children, as they would often provoke a bit of annoyance out of her. This was a vulnerability for Vivian; any of her foes could disgust her with the caterwaul of their offspring.

| Upon hearing someone enter the room, Chance stayed where he was on the sofa and within a few moments, someone plopped themselves down a not very far way from him. The girl acted as if he didn't exist and although he understood that not everyone was very talkative, sitting down next to someone on a couch without even giving them a nod or look of acknowledgment was... weird.
Sitting up and letting his short legs dangle off the couch, he let the book that he'd been reading fall to the ground and looked at the girl, his head titled in curiosity. "Who are you?" the small child piped, not letting his gaze leave the other student.

| Why is it your business? Vivian thought, agitated. Nonetheless, her brown eyes flicked up from the informational book she was reading. She studied Chance's round, child-like face. His large, entrancing, dark and sweet eyes swirled in their sockets, and her own met them briefly. "Vivian," she replied with hesitation. With minor reluctance, she spoke. Her curiosity was getting the better of the girl. "Who are you?" she asked. She gripped her book, her short nails scraping the vinyl cover of the book.
Her eyes couldn't decide whether to look at Chance or not. His hair was like a diverse wheat field - vast in color, and highlighted barely. It was just the right shade, in Vivian's opinion... but appearances didn't mold personality, now, did they? That was something that Vivian was well acquainted with, surely.
She didn't know that the child was truly matured, but she made an assumption that he was an adolescent child. Not everyone had the gift of reversing their age, after all. She kicked her legs up, making sure not to harm the boy, but it was enough to make the Autumn comfortable.

| Glad to see that the girl wasn't in fact mute or overly antisocial to no be able to talk, Chance listened as she stated her name. Vivian, the small child couldn't recall if he knew anyone by the name of Vivian and thought it was a pretty interesting name. "Chance," he replied with a smile, holding out a small hand for her to shake. He'd never seen her before, but might as well make a new friend while they were sitting next to each other, right? "Nice to meet you," the child added, hoping she would except his greeting. | |

| Not wanting to be rude, but considering that this child was a complete stranger, she shook his hand. Not curtly, but not extensively. Once they stopped shaking hands, Vivian let out a small breath. This child wasn't all that immature for his age, luckily. "Huh, Chance," she thought aloud. "I like it." Vivian's fingers chambered around each other, and her eyes paced the spinal columns of several books. Vivian wasn't much for starting conversation, or continuing it, at the very least, so she waited for the boy to resume the dialogue.
Meanwhile, she continued reading her book, occasionally looking up at Chance. There was no disappointment or particular, enthusiastic happiness in her voice. It seemed emotionless as far as it truly goes. She calibrated her lustrous, burnished black glasses on her nose, which she used only for reading. She seemed a tad prevaricate, but not enough to seem secretive. Her lenses seemed to glow with the highlight of faint sunlight as she continued to read her novel.

| So far so good. She didn't seem too into him but that was alright, he didn't mind. Besides, this was their first time meeting, so seeing a small child in a school of teens was probably a little surprising, to say the least. "You like to read?" the little boy pointed out, seeing that the girl seemed pretty engrossed in the book that she'd gotten from the shelf. In his child and normal aged form, Chance personally didn't like reading, well, unless is was comic books, and he wouldn't quite understand how some people shoved their heads into books for so long. Didn't staring at words for hours on end ever get boring? | |

| "Sometimes," replied Vivian. "I'm thinking of getting a bird." The pheasant plastered onto the front cover with ductile material shone with a glossy patina. Its feathers were traced exquisitely. She read the words, as her fingers played at the fringe of the page. It fluttered between her fingernails, and she nodded. On the page was an illustration of a bird, posed tactfully on a branch. Its plumule was splayed out, and its tail feathers were being used to balance upon the rough wood. | |

| A bird? Chance had never seen a captive bird, what an odd thing to want from reading a book. "W-what type of bird?" Chance asked, looking down to the book in which the girl was holding. She seemed so memorized by the creature printed onto the cover and he wondered how someone could look so in awe over a picture.

| "An African Grey," said Vivian, turning the page once more. It made an artificial-sounding wobbling noise as it turned, it being laminated with a strange sheen. The words seemed freshly printed nonetheless. She looked at Chance, who was also eyeing the paper now. He seemed to be attempting to read the words, and she didn't pay much mind to it. She was reading the care section for an African Grey. She glimpsed some of the pictures, but read the literature more than the imagery.

| An African Grey? He'd never heard of such a bird, but it sounded interesting. Looking from the book that rested in the girl's hand, he looked to his book at sat on the floor. Leaning down and barely being able to reach it without falling off of the comfy sofa, Chance grabbed it. Leaning back against the chair, the small child opened the anime book and shuffled through a few pages till he found what he wanted.
"I want that!" he exclaimed happily, pointing to a black and white fluffy dog on the page that was surrounded by Japanese writing. It would be so cool to have a fuzzy dog like that and it looked so happy, with it's big smile and shiny eyes. "Do you have dog?" he asked, looking up to the girl.

| "Hmm, alright," she said. She looked at the canine, its grin wide and ranging his chops. It was as fuzzy as a puffball, and curiosity got the better of Vivian. "What would you name it?" asked Vivian, blinking at Chance. The dog seemed so happy, it gliding across the pages. Its ears were so cute. Vivian couldn't blame the young boy; having a dog like that would indeed be a prize. | |

| Good, at least he'd peeked her interest a little more than before, though her next question stumped the child. What would he name it? He'd never gotten far enough to think of names, seeing that he would probably never get a dog, but it was an interesting thought, none the less. Thinking for a few moments, he finally came up with an answer. "Domino," he replied with a determined nod. When he was little, his family had owned a Collie named Domino and it was the sweetest dog in the world. Unfortunately, nothing lasted forever and the dog left the world of the living, but even so, Chance would hold his old friend's name close to his heart forever. | |

| Vivian nodded, indifferent to said name. "Domino," she repeated, with a coherent interest. She strummed the lips of the pages, and the ink seemed to dance across the pages as they contrived dissimilar words. Most were very literate and difficult. "Seems nice." Vivian commented quietly. The dog, now named Domino, as per the boy's choice, cantered across the pages, with Japanese calligraphy adorning it.
Vivian wondered then what she would name her bird. Gilligan? Hah, maybe. Vivian thought, taking the name into consideration. She looked at Chance, waiting to see his reaction to her words.

| Sitting next to the girl in silence for a few moments, Chance didn't really know what to say or where to go from here. So, for what felt like the longest time, he thought about what to say, but didn't really have much luck. "So, how you like the school?" the little boy asked, assuming she was new, since he hadn't ever seen her before. | |
