This School is the Cat's Pajamas [Open]

Sophie had arrived a couple days before, but took those days to settle into the bleak Initiate Dorms. It wasn't the best place she'd ever slept in, but it'd have to work until she got sorted into her house. Today, however, she decided to explore the school to make sure she knew her way around. The young girl found herself in the hallways of the main building, looking at all the classrooms. It was the typical fancy mansion-turned-academy, she had read it in an old comic book a few years ago. Her cat ears twitched as she thought she heard something coming from behind her. "Is someone there?" she asked without turning around.

It was hard to miss the loud scream that made its way down the halls.

Within seconds of Sophie's call, a girl came running down towards her, arms outstretched and reaching towards an object that rolled away from her. Everything about the scene was normal.

Except for the headless body that stumbled her way through the hall. Or the tumbling head that said body reached out for. The scream continued until finally, the head slowed down until it bumped into the heels of Sophie. A small squeak escaped the head's lips as she stared upwards. With a furrow in her brow, her blue eyes avoided staring up her skirt. "U-Uh... Hi..."

Sophie squealed as the head rolled into her ankles. She lept almost 3 feet in the air from shock and the less desirable parts of her gift manifested as a tail appeared, ripping a hole through her leggings (thankfully not visible) and pushing out the top of her skirt. Her eyes also became more cat-like. She landed two feet away, tail swishing wildly and eyes wide. It wasn't every day that you see a head rolling down the hallway. Her chest heaved as she struggled to calm herself down. "What the hell??" she exclaimed. Noticing her tail finally as she continued to calm herself down and her face went red. Another pair of leggings ruined. Good thing she had been wearing the skirt over it. "How are you doing that?" she asked breathlessly, eyes still wide.

Hibana watched as the events in front of her unfolded. First, there was a headless body chasing after its head, then, the other had turned into a cat. Almost a cat. What was that again? Furry? No. Anyways, she knew that there would be some weird stuff at this school, but this takes the cake so far. Her attention focused more on the head. It made her stomach a bit uneasy which resulted in her losing her appetite and dropping the sweet bread back into its paper bag. So much for that.

Once the color in her face had returned, she stepped toward the two girls. "I'm kind of curious as to how you are able to do that as well." She said out of curiosity. "I should probably introduce myself. I'm Hibana, it's nice to meet you two."

The body managed to catch up to its head and the two girls. Upon closer inspection, a ghostly blue flame flickered where her neck should be. As if she was out of breath, her arms reached down to rest on her knees. The head which sat patiently huffed rhythmically.

Hyun-Ae scooped up her head. Wiping the sweat from her brow, she straightened her head in her grasp and held it up for the others. "T-This is my gift," she commented with a low chuckle. A nervous look glossed her face as she looked towards the other students. "I'm Hyun-Ae, though most people call me Hunnie..."

Her eyes travelled to the cat girl as her hands brushed dirt from her spiky hair. It was somewhat cute, seeing two fluffy ears and a tail swishing behind her. More importantly, she knew she should explain her strange situation first. "I-I'm a dullahan. Headless horseman. Minus the horse. I would offer to shake hands but... Well..." She gave her head a quick pat as a gesture. The girl did not want to drop her head yet again.

Sophie nodded as Hunnie explained her gift, although she was still pretty uneasy with her detached head speaking as well as with the blue flame coming from where the head should be. "I'm Sophie," she replied. She tried her best not to stare at Hunnie's head or the flame, so she focused on messing with her tail. She was curious about Hyun-ae's gift and how it worked. "So, uh, Hunnie. Does your, um, head stay unattached or can you put it back on sometimes?" she asked awkwardly, not really knowing how to ask such a question.

"A dullahan" Hibana whispered to herself. She wasn't familiar with that term, but headless horseman was more relatable to the situation. Nodding away as Hunnie spoke, Hibana caught her self looking over at the blue flame that seemed to manifest where her neck was and then back again at the head. No longer was she uneasy about the detached head. She was more fascinated than anything. "Well, if it is similar to the headless horseman, then I believe it stays unattached. Of course, that's just how it is depicted. It could be wrong." The autumn chimed in.
