Reputations Mean Nothing To Me

Black hair flowed in the cold wind as a tall teenage female walked through the tall doors of the school she'd become accustomed to, Headmastered by her uncle and the former school of both her father and mother. She muttered nonsense to herself as she walked the halls to her preferred place to spend her time- the Studios. She could practice her trumpet or horn as she pleased, or she could create magical worlds upon canvas with a simple paintbrush. Or she could write.

Drawing was what she normally did, though.

As she made her way to the art wing of the Studios, she twisted the dragon ring on her finger. It was a habit she'd started doing when she got to the school. She was a tad bit uncomfortable here, and twisting her ring helped. It definitely didn't help the fact that she was a tad allergic to the metal the ring was made of, so it made the skin it covered mildly irritated. She didn't really care.

Cyth sighed as she opened the door to one of the few rooms that made up the art wing. Walking to the large easel that stood at one end of the room, she directed herself left, taking a large canvas from the closet and setting it upon the easel. She took a pencil from her hoodie pocket- she always carried a pencil in her pocket, always- and dragged over a stool from a few feet away. Sitting down, she sketched the guidelines for a long, glowing onyx serpent from a game she used to play.

And then the door creaked open.

Montare walked into the room, glancing over at the girl, but otherwise ignoring her. She didn't seem familiar. Perhaps she was another one of the newer students whom didn't know of his godawful reputation. Whilst considering this, he collected a piece of paper and a pencil, sitting down at one of the tables and starting to expertly draw some symbol.

Cyth sighed. Didn't people know that there were more than one room for a reason? Either way, the boy intrigued her. He was unfamiliar- perhaps an older student. She walked over quietly, standing about a foot behind him and eyeing the symbol curiously. "What's that?"

Montare continued to focus on the drawing, not turning when he spoke. "An old sign from my clan. It stands for our ability to shapeshift." he said, continuing to draw the very complex symbol. It took some time to complete, but it was drawn at such a quality it looked as if Montare had drawn it many times before, which he had. He put down his pencil, picking up the paper and looking at it. After getting a good look at it and nodding slightly to himself in approval, Montare showed it to the girl standing behind him.

Cyth looked at the boy, perplexed. "Clan? Sounds cool," she mused, stuffing her hands into her hoodie pockets as she looked over the boy's shoulder as a strange symbol evolved from his pencil strokes. As he moved out of the way and showed it to her, she grinned. "That's really awesome, dude. Looks like you're pretty good at drawing yourself."

Hearing what Cyth said, Montare did something he'd not done in quite some time. He smiled. "Oh, thanks." he said, turning to look at her now. Prior to this, he didn't even know what she looked like apart from what he saw when he gave her a quick glance when he first entered the room. After all, if he were wrong and she turned out to know about his reputation, giving her much more than a glance wouldn't end well for him, let alone even being in the same room. But luckily, it appeared that this indeed was not the case.

Reputation was a big thing in this school, apparently. It was never great to come in the middle of the school year. You always ended up being the odd one out, because everyone already knew each other. "No problem," she replied. "Cyth Wright," she greeted, holding out a hand to be shaken. The boy still continued to perplex her. Clan symbols, and he seemed an interesting character. Speaking of Clan symbols, she could've sworn she heard something about a douchebag shapeshifter that came from a Clan of shapeshifters-- if this was him, frankly she didn't care. Reputations meant nothing to her.

"Montare Lupo." he said, shaking Cyth's hand. He also took notice of her last name, Wright. So she was related to the Headmaster of the school, and Jace as well. This made Montare really wonder if Cyth didn't hear anything about him, since surely she would have heard from either Jace or the Headmaster if she was related to them. Or, perhaps she simply didn't care, which would be surprising. That'd make Cyth the first person to not care in the slightest about what'd he done.

The girl returned her hand to her side, giving Montare a somewhat mischievous smile. "If you'll excuse me, Montare," she paused for a minute, turning around, "I'd like to get somewhere with this drawing before the afternoon classes." She sat back down at the canvas, a sketch blooming underneath her penciltip.

Montare looked as she went back over to her own canvas, deciding to get up and go over there with her. He stood behind Cyth, now watching as she started to draw. He showed a look out interest on his face as he observed her fluid pencil strokes. "That looks really good." Montare said in response to the finished sketch.

Cyth continued sketching away, not quite processing his words at first. She hadn't even noticed him standing behind her. "O-Oh! Er, thanks," she replied, somewhat flustered. She didn't normally let people watch her draw. It screwed up her sk33lz. For whatever reason though, this was not the case. Finishing a final pencil stroke, she returned her pencil to her pocket and stood, carrying the canvas back over to one of the shelves to be stored for the next time she came over. "So, Montare," she began, leaning back on a table, "Besides drawing that Clan symbol you've obviously drawn several times before, what're you doing here? And why not choose one of the other rooms in the wing?"

As Cyth went to put away the canvas, Montare leaned on the wall opposite to the table Cyth was leaning on. "I just came in here out of boredom, I guess. And the other rooms probably would have had someone who would've yelled at me or tried to shoo me out with a canvas." he said in response to Cyth's question, grinning slightly as he spoke. He had become more used to the hate coming from any students who knew what his reputation was and why he had said reputation.

Cyth tilted her head in confusion. "Yelled at you? Why? What did you even do? Does this place really have that sort of deep-rooted highschool hierarchy like every other high school? Even weird kids have a system of hate?" She sighed. "I kinda hoped this place wouldn't have that. Silly thing to assume, it's everywhere, really."

Montare let out a sigh of his own in response to what she said. "No, it's because of something I did early on in the year because of being, well, socially awkward at the time. Everyone hates me for it." he told Cyth, a look of sorrow now forming on his face slightly, hoping that he wouldn't be asked what he had done, for fear of what Cyth might do in reaction and because of the fact Montare didn't want to speak of the incident.

"Social awkwardness is generally an excuse, but I guess it isn't here," she sighed. "Either way, what's in the past is in the past and I don't really care. Any chance to actually know anybody here is a good thing to me," she stated, grinning at Montare. For once, it was not a shiteating grin, but a genuine grin. Wow, Cyth. "I had a shitty reputation at my old school just because I was the weird girl who could light people on fire that burned cold. That and besides the whole frostfire bullcrap I'm not normal anyway, according to most people I'm pretty douchey."
