Bro Time, Bro

It was in the middle of the afternoon when Richard walked around the courtyard. It was a simple place that he enjoyed visiting, and around this time there were quite a few people who walked about and had some fun. Maybe he'd find someone here to talk to. But as time passed and everyone cleared out, Richard found himself in the quiet by himself which wasn't much of a problem. It was pretty nice to be able to sit and relax even if the sun was fairly warm. Letting out a sigh, he sat in the grass and leaned back on his hands, closing his eyes and basking in the sun for a moment until he heard footsteps behind him.

Barry had nothing to do so he was walking through the courtyard with his hands in his pockets when he nearly walked on a boy who was laying in the grass. "Oh sorry about that. Didn't see you there." he said apologetically looking down at him.

When the sun was suddenly blocked out by a strange shadow, Richard quickly opened his eyes and sat up to see another boy standing next to him. "No problem, man," Richard replied with a smile and a soft laugh. Getting up to his feet, he looked at Barry. "So what are you up to in such a hurry?" He asked casually. Might as well strike up a conversation. It wasn't like Richard had to go anywhere and he was pretty bored...

"I'm just wandering around, I don't really have anything to do or anywhere to be." he replied. [color=#ff0000]"Actually, I was lost in thought about nothing particular and I wasn't watching where I was going. I'm actually surprised I wandered all the way to the courtyard." He looked around. He had started at from the library after looking, and after being unsuccessful, decided to walk around for awhile. Then his mind had begun to wander, as it always did, and here he was, in the courtyard.

"So we're pretty much in the same boat. Well..." he paused, trying to think of something to say. It suddenly occurred to him that he hadn't introduced himself. He hadn't seen this guy around for anything, so might as well make a new friend. "I'm Richard by the way," he said after a moment, sticking his hand out to shake Barry's hand.

"Mine's Barry." he said, shaking Richard's hand with a smile. He hadn't really seen him around either, so it was nice to see a new face outside of his dorm mates. They were nice and all, but it was nice to get out and meet new people every now and then.

Well, now there was always that dreaded situation where things became awkward because you run out of things to say. Trying to figure something out, Richard looked around for any ideas. "It's good to meet you!" he replied. "So what are you at Beata for? I mean... basically... what's your power?" he asked.

"It's super speed." He said. "Watch." He then held up his hand and vibrated it at super speeds. He found that doing this is much easier than actually running, because then he didn't have to use up all his energy. Plus, it would be a good example of his powers until he can run without his metabolism making him waste away.

Watching closely, Richard was surprised to see just how fast Barry's hand was moving. That looked impossible. But then again, they were at Beata. Heck, he could walk through walls. "Whoa, that's awesome!" he exclaimed. "So you can run fast and do all that with super speed too?"

"You betcha!" he replied. "But it can be dangerous. My metabolism is crazy fast."

That was interesting. And that probably had to suck too. "Huh... That's still really cool, though. Maybe it will get better as you learn to use it and control it," he said, shifting his weight from one foot to the other.

"One can only hope." he replied. "So what's your gift?"

"Nothing really that cool," he retorted. "Phasing is what they call it. I can walk through walls and stuff. I'd try to show you, but there really isn't anything I can walk through around here..." Richard looked around quickly to confirm his statement. Yeah, the closest building would take too much time of awkwardly walking over there just to show off one little trick. Suddenly he got a bright idea. "Try to hit me and I can show you."

"Okay." he said, swinging a half-hearted punch at him. Phasing would be really cool and super useful in some situations.

Even though it really wasn't that bad of a punch, it was still effective in what Richard wanted to show him. Without even flinching, Barry's punch went right through Richard's body, leaving a strange feeling of something that shouldn't belong, but it didn't hurt at all. Actually, now that he thought about it, no one had ever actually tried hitting him like this before, so he was somewhat curious if Barry felt anything from it. Honestly, now that he thought about it, it was a little awkward, but at the moment, it was the best way for Richard to show off his power. Giving an awkward smile, the blond tried to laugh it off as he backed away a bit so that Barry's hand and arm weren't sticking straight through him anymore. "I didn't even think about how weird that must have been.."
