| Letting out a sigh of relief, Kimply allowed herself to feel proud. Yeah, she had just shot a Yeti in the eye and saved the day. No biggie. Did it all the time. Grinning from ear to ear, she dipped into an melodramatic bow glancing over at Jason, about to say something along the lines of, Thank you, darling~ in an overdone British accent. But as she was about to speak, she was cut short by the loud fire of a shot and the sick sound of metal puncturing skin. She watched red soak Jason's stomach, and everything seemed to become real. Her smile morphed into something shocked and terrified, a deer in the headlights. Her face stayed like that for a moment, before she wiped away any emotion. No. She couldn't panic. She had to assess the information at hand, figure out the best route to take. She desperately grasped for a plan, putting pieces together in her mind. Her indigo eyes flashed from each person, thinking quickly. Simon was apparently insane and armed. She could hear him telling them to toss their weapons, but she held back and let the others move first. What was his motive? Was he going to kill them for the heck of it? Maybe take the credit and tell the others they had tragically been killed? She had no idea. There was Jace, whose blood was turning the white snow to a bright red. How long would he last with that wound? He needed medical attention, and quickly. Lotte had just tossed her weapon, but perhaps with her power she could do some damage, even without a quarterstaff. She was exactly sure about Montare, still in wolf form. Simon would likely just shoot him as so as he made a move. And Evelyn... she would probably help the most, if she stayed quiet. Simon wouldn't notice her or her weapon. If Kimply could just distract the man... The girl knew her bow was worthless without an arrow strung, and she wouldn't be able to do anything without getting herself killed, so she moved to the front of the cave and halfheartedly tossed her bow, all the while giving their 'guide' the darkest look she could muster. | |

| This had to be some kind of ironic, right? How Beata stood so firm in their decisions to avoid firearms. And here they were, armed with knives and bows and daggers, and completely helpless to some psycho Brit with a silver piece. They had been trained to used their powers and to use their weapons as back-up against whatever unearthly foes they might have faced. There was nothing said about being caught up in a situation like this; held up by an normal, ungifted brat. Maybe they should rethink their rules a bit. Or something.
Jason hissed through his teeth as he bent forward on the ground, his hands gripping where the bullet had pierced him. It wasn't even the blood spilling on the ground that had bothered him, but the acid that was burning him and causing him to bleed internally. He almost wanted to black out, but forced himself to deal with it all, his golden eyes shooting daggers up at Simon and willing them to be alright. There had to be some way out of this. There had to be... They couldn't die in the middle of nowhere in the snow. Not like this. Jace shook his head tried to stay strong, groaning lol from the pain. Literally shot in the stomach. Wounds like this usually only allowed a good, agonizing fifteen minutes.

| Simon ceased laughter, and turned to the wounded Jace, smirking. "Simple. I was an innocent guide traveling with some kids to fight a monster. Why? Because some evil school sent their students to get slaughtered. I tried to stop them, but alas," he made a dramatic gesture with the hand that held the gun, it making a metallic clanging as it moved upwards. ", they all perished at the hands of the yeti. However, using a blade..., Simon halted his speech once more, withdrawing a machete with his free hand from his pants. These were given to guides for emergencies, in case lines had to be comprised quickly. "I defeated the yeti, and I'll bring back the head to prove it. Talk shows, magazines, everything; they'll want to interview me about the poor kids who perished at the hands of their monstrosity of a school. I'll make millions for just telling this story, again and again. Maybe I'll release a book..." his voice trailed off, his face giving a wondrous countenance. However, as he snapped back into reality, he held his gun out to Kimply. "Sorry, hun. I have a lover at home living off minimum wage I get payed by this fucking drunk. She is back at home. Cute gal. It's a shame, but you have to make a living somehow." And as a bullet shot out of his gun and into Kimply's abdomen, a barrage of bullets ripped through Simon's back, head, etcetera. He let out a hoarse croak, and collapsed. Rescuers, clad in neon orange vests, ran up, holding pistols and various other kinds of guns. They ran to the injured, each with oxygen masks and stretchers. And who walked up slowly in the center of them all? Richter had, for the first time the kids had seen him, been wearing a frown. "Nahsty fack. Should'a nev'r trust'd eym." he muttered under his breath. In his gloved hand was a letter. Only a boldfaced title could be read at the top of the prefolded paper. Dear Ludia...

| Fame. That was his sick motive in all of this? Killing a bunch of supernatural high school students for the sole purpose of making a stack load of cash? The worst part being that he had thought all of this out beforehand. She looked over at the carcass of the Yeti, realization striking her. Mankind was the real monster. They had the ability to think for themselves, to love and to feel. They had souls. Yet they still hurt each other, completely aware of the act. Deep inside, they were really animals. And Simon was one of the sickest creatures. As if to prove her statement, Simon raised his gun and directed it at her. He said something about a lover, but it was too late. She had already decided he was the most selfish monster she had met. Even though Kimply had a chance to move, she knew there was no way she wouldn't be shot. There probably wasn't a way that she would survive this. It was almost a calming thought, knowing there was nothing she could do. Terrifying, but calming all the same. For a moment she closed her eyes and a single thought filled her mind. I'm sorry I never found you, Dad. You'll have to find me now.
But she didn't even get to open her eyes before fire flashed beneath them. Once in her life, Kimply fell from a twee and broke her leg. She remembered crying hard and her worried mother carrying her inside and handing her home remedies, then wrapping up her leg. She didn't think there could ever be a pain worse than a cracked bone or a swelled up leg, but she had never been more wrong. Fire scorched her stomach, ripping away at her nerves as it shot through her body. She gritted her teeth and clenched her side, letting out a single, strangled cry. Her knees buckled beneath her and she feel into the snow. The cold did little to numb the pain as her blood soaked her jacket, pouring through her hands that she used them to stop the flow. She was barely aware of the multiple shot fires, though a dull thought played in the back of her mind. He's killing the others, too. Montare, Lotte... Evelyn... She was faintly conscious when she heard another voice, but thought nothing off it as she faded into the darkness, letting them pain lessen while sleep tried to come to her.

| Evelyn had been standing alert during Simon's entire monologue, resisting the urge to run away or to the injured Jace's side when he pointed the gun at Kimply. Her entire world froze up, and all of her self-restraint melted away in that single moment as he pulled the trigger.
"No!"
Her voice was drowned out by the sound of more gunfire, and she finally let out a scream as Simon collapsed, bullets riddled throughout his back. She looked from Jace to Kimply, to see her with her eyes closed. She broke into a sprint, crouching at Kimply's side. "K-kimply!" she choked out, tears of fear from the entire incident threatening to spill over.
