Some Peace and Quiet [Open]

There was something special about the sky. No matter where you went in the world, they could be vastly different, but they could seem exactly the same. When you just stared up at the clouds, it was so easy to forget where you were.

As he lay across the school rooves, the back of his head resting comfortably on his arm, there was only the clear vast blue above and the scent of fresh air on the breeze. For a moment, he could picture himself back on the west coast, laying on the roof of his old home, paying attention to nothing else. Just watching that endless blue. Nothing else happening, he felt the entire world be still as the clouds rolled slowly, ever so beautifully past.

It was perfect. He could keep watching forever.

Or as long as his joint lasted.

He brought the grass up to his lips, inhaling a deep breath of smoke and burning the other end into blazing red, orange, and yellows. Liam held it in, thinking quietly on his plans for the weekend. Of course he had none, but with Valentine's Day on the corner, he supposed he should try and make some some effort to get out there. It was pathetic to stay indoors and alone then.

Or maybe he could just come out on the roof again with the clouds. They didn't seem to mind his company. The young man let out a cloud of his own, watching it disappear into nothingness.

God it was fucked up. Maria walked up the small stairwell to the roof thinking about everything going on. Gossip Girl, Valentines day, crap like that. She hadn't given any good Valentines, except one to Jonathan. Part of the her wanted to send it to him but the other part of her said "No! You'll look like a softy." It wasn't that she dislike this so called holiday, but when you were this well known, no one in particular really sent you a specific lover letter.

She gave a sigh reaching the top and reaching to open the door. She remembered some student's talking about the shit Freya had caused when she came up here and decided to see it for herself. The charming girl looked around noticing a guy creating a puff of smoke. Well, I guess disturbing silence is my specialty. Maria thought to herself, flipping some of her hair behind her shoulders, and walking to the edge of the railing. With a devious smile across her smug face, she leaned against the railing, looking out onto Beata. "Seems like the weather is getting warmer." She mumbled to no one in particular. Honestly, she hated warm weather but living in Florida her whole life, she learned to deal with it. Besides, she did look pretty freekin hot in a bikini...

For one moment, he let his eyes flutter closed, doing nothing more than enjoying the warm feeling of the sun burning delightfully against his skin. He'd been so wrapped up in the short lived bliss that he'd ever noticed when someone else had entered onto the rooftop along with him. It wasn't until he heard the sound of the stranger's quiet murmur that he finally opened his gaze, glancing a glance aside over to the railing. It was some young woman whom he couldn't help but think he'd seen before. He hadn't a clue where it could have been or what sort of name to match to her face, only a feeling.

"It's about damn time too," Liam mused, flicking his smoke around the tips of his fingers. "I'm sick of all this snow." He watched her quietly as she stared out over the schoolyards. Now what was a girl like her doing up here?

Maria gave a smile still looking out onto the schoolyard. Great, he's a flirt. She could feel his anticipating gaze on her shoulders and finally gave in. "Agreed. I've never enjoyed snow either." She replied turning to the student, leaning against the railing. "This is pretty peaceful..." She started but stopped mid sentence. "Why am I saying that? I hate peacefulness." She said lighthearted, it was the truth. She hated peace and quiet. Being someone like her, she much rather spend her nights at a club rather than watching T.V. or reading.

Liam gave her a curious lookover. Not simply because of her appearance, which she obviously poured effort into, but because of the entire attitude she carried with her. The way she stood and move, the way she spoke and even how she smiled seemed calculated. He wasn't sure what to make of it, taking another long drag out of his joint and blowing the air out in careless patterns.

"Why are you saying that?" Liam asked, glancing back up towards the sky. "If this place is too quiet for you, then why the hell you here?" It's not as if he was hosting a party.

Maria thought about his question for a moment or two. "I have no idea. Guess a change of scenery is nice every once in a while." She said with a somewhat smug look of her face. And you are definitely scenery I want to look at."I'm Maria, by the way." The charming girl added. She watched him create a few more puffs of smoke and wondered if his power was basically smoking or if his lungs were immune to it, which they probably were.

The Summer somewhat laughed under his breath, flicking away any ash onto the pavement and wondering what was up with that smug look on her face. What reason did she have to feel smug about? The red-head didn't quite get it, but neither did he dwell on it. Chances were that she wasn't up there for little-old-him anyways so it didn't concern him much. "Afternoon, Maria." He probably should have stood up or reached over to shake her hand or something, but it felt as if he were weighed down to that roof at the moment. She'd have to come down there and join him, if she would even bother. " 'Name is Liam. And I'm assuming you don't smoke?" Hey, he had to give her some courtesy. Might as well offer to share the bud.

Taking one last glance to the school grounds she sat down by the boy. She was always taught to be polite and shake their hand but screw it, he didn't seem too keen on being formal anyway. She leaned her head against the wall and gave a sigh. "Guess it depends on what I've smoked." Maria replied bluntly. She didn't bother looking at him, keeping her eyes towards the door, but held out her hand. "Well, why not." The girl gave a smile and a shrug, thinking about all the great times she had at when she drove to the Miami clubs. It was quite a drive from her home to the city, but getting wasted with her friends was well worth it.

Liam stayed quiet, coming to the conclusion on his own that he had been right after all. She didn't strike him as the type. The way she stared down the door, as if someone else would come crashing through any moment, only seemed to confirm that for him. "You afraid someone's going to catch you red handed?" He asked, taking in one more deep breath of sweet smoke before placing it gently in her grasp. Hopefully she wasn't the type to mind germs.

She took the sweet smelling substance from the boy's hand and popped it in her mouth. Taking a deep breath in, she then released a happy sigh. Ah, the wonderful memories. Afraid of someone catching her? Fuck that shit. She was just picking a place to stare at. "Nah, I wouldn't care if anyone caught me." Maria was used to being yelled out so honestly, it meant nothing. "This is some sweet stuff you got here." She looked to him, about to ask him who and where he got it but bit her tongue. Too soon to be asking questions like that.

"So...What brings you up here?" Now it was her turn to ask the questions.

Of course she wasn't the type to mind a slap on the wrist. Everything about her screamed party animal. The type of woman who'd upload selfies unto Esper of her taking shots and constantly brag about the girls who hated her. At least she was smoking hot. "Enjoying the view," He muttered. There wasn't much else to do in a place like this. "In a town like this, there's nothing else to do." For him, the place had lost it's charm rather quickly. Unless this Maria had any better ideas, the floor of the roof seemed as good of a place to be as any.

Maria gave a small laugh. It was the truth, it was pretty damn boring around here. "Well, actually there are a lot of things to do, you just gotta use your imagination." She knew what she said could be interpreted multiple ways but knew a guy like Liam would understand what she meant. Besides, who said you couldn't have fun on a rooftop?

The Summer let out a long humming sound. He was already baked and cloud watching. Now what on earth, nevermind Rosebury, could be better than that? Probably most things. Liam shot the young woman a curious look, thinking she looked a tad too excited. "That I could," He said, raising an eyebrow. "But I'm going to guess that you already have something in mind." He had his fair share of ideas, but rather her come out and say what she wanted. Gave him less of a chance of looking like an idiot.

Maria scooted herself next to him, tiptoeing her fingers up his chest. "Oh I think you know what I have in mind." She said slyly. She would never had done this if not for the boy's laid back, party kinda attitude. Ya, maybe it was a bit to far already but she didn't care. Life was pretty damn boring at this wretched school but today, she would have some fun.

He watched carefully as the young woman swept her fingers teasingly up his chest, her touch almost felt cold to him. A smile cracked at the edge of his lips. Maria didn't waste any time. While he started to count his blessings, the image of another girl had already forced it's way in.

Short blonde hair and pretty ocean-like eyes. They always seemed to have a cold look to them, but he'd always found them intriguing. They hadn't talked often, and the last time they'd truly spent time together, he'd ended up fighting with some asshole over her attention. Punch would never taste quite the same again to him. In reality, they were close to nothing. So then why did Maria's touch make him feel, not quite uncomfortable, but slightly guilty?

In truth, Liam was terrible with words. He finally forced himself to sit up, running a few fingers through his hair. "You have this kind of fun with every guy you meet?" He held his breath afterwords.
