Hopefully the weather stays cloudy... (Open/Intro)

I wish I were still in Oregon.

The words rang through Kasumi's mind, as she stared at the entrance to her new home. Beata Academy, all the way in North Dakota. Why did it have to be so far from home? Kasumi had lived in the northwest all her life, and this was something new, and honestly, a little frightening to her. However, she knew that it was for her own good, to help her control her "gift" in a friendly environment, yadda yadda yadda. If you asked Kasumi herself, sending her here might be a bigger mistake. What if there was more sunlight here? What it the weather wasn't always cloudy like it was now? In the Northwest, rain and gloom was the norm, and it was all the better for the teen.

Why? Welllll, let's just say that when you occasionally randomly turn into water vapor and can get evaporated and never return to a human form ever again... Not exactly a cheery thought. Kasumi couldn't see what her git could possibly be useful for, Mist Physiology was simply an annoyance, a hindrance from her doing all sorts of things. Since she didn't have it completely under control yet... No going to the beach unless it was all cold and cloudy, no going near the stove, or fire, her parents even kept her away from a candle on a friend's birthday cake when she was younger. Perhaps it would be worth it, coming here to help gain control over her ability.

With a heavy sigh, Kasumi Matsuyama picked up the heavy duffel bag holding mostly books and clothes, and trudged through the gates. Once inside, she looked about at the peaceful-looking area, where a few other students walked, chattering with each other. She had no idea where to go. Should she ask someone? But everyone else was older! Or at least looked older. Here comes Kasumi's scaredy-cat side. Being fairly shy, Kasumi always had a hard time with piano recitals, and school presentations, often spending sleepless nights worrying about them. Asking questions to strangers was one of the things she was most nervous about. But then, sfe couldn't just stand here, could she?

She trotted over to a student walking past, and tapped them on the shoulder, stuttering, "Um, well, you see, er, ehhh... What should, um, new students do when they...arrive?" Inside, Kasumi wanted to slap herself. First thing uttered on the campus, and she already sounded like some idiot.

Edward was walking in the front of the school with his hands deep in his pocket. His attire was all blue as always due to his fondness of the color. He stared up to the blue sky and smiled in amazement at the beauty of the color. Blue, the color of calm which fit Edward's personality well. He continued to walk as he stared up to the sky, not looking at where he was going. He fortunately just missed a couple of students who were sitting around on the ground, studying and a tree.

Suddenly, his concentration on the beautiful color was broken as he felt someone tap on his shoulder. This caused the seventeen year old to trip over his own feet and fall on his back. "Ow ow ow." the boy mumbled as he rubbed his back. He then looked up to see a girl who appeared to be in her early teens sanding over him. He then quickly got up and stretched, acting as if he just didn't fall over because of a little girl. "Yup! Just doing some stretches after doing all of those sit ups." he said, shouting a little so that the near by students would hear him, only for some of them to end up laughing and giggling because they have witnessed what had happened prior.

He then sighed a little and looked to the girl, not hearing what he asked him before and smirked a little at her. "Never seen you here before. But then again I haven't seen that many people considering that I'm new." he said as he rubbed the back of his head. "Are you new?"

"Ah, um, s-sorry! I'm so sorry for startling you like that! Um, are you alright?" Kasumi jumped back, looking scared, and obviously unsure of what to do. Wow, congratulations, Kasumi. First person you meet and you make him fall on the ground. Kasumi stood there awkwardly, debating about whether to try and help this person up, when suddenly he said something that struck Kasumi as quite odd.

"Yup! Just doing some stretches after doing all of those sit ups." He said cheerfully, and in an unusually loud voice. Could this guy have mental problems? Why was he-- Oh, now she understood, as students around them giggled a little. Was it really that embarrassing? Kasumi bowed her head down in shame, wanting to disappear. She'd never done too well socially, preferring to read quietly in the corner of the lunch room while everyone else chatted and hung out together. She wasn't bullied, or excluded by others, she merely preferred being by herself.

And then he completely ignored her question, and wet on rambling, wondering out loud if she was new. And just your luck. Apparently this guy seems to be deaf, on top of everything. Kasumi decided to ignore these more judgmental thoughts of hers and just go along with the flow, nodding slightly in response. "Um, do you know where new students should go?" she stammered slightly, not meeting his gaze. Man, this was embarrassing. All she wanted to do now, was to just disappear and find herself waking up back at home. Not that she couldn't disappear... No. It wasn't a good idea to use that so-called gift of hers. Besides, she wasn't about to get her clothes all damp after turning into vapor. She'd just ask around, and get settled.

Edward began to sway his arms back and fourth a little as he listened to the shy girl's question. He paused and folded his hands to the back of his head as he looked up to the sky, thinking a little. "Nope." is what he blurted out as he looked back down to the girl with a small, innocent goofy smile on his face. "I am actually pretty new myself and trying to figure that out." he admitted as he slid his hands into his pockets. "We could look around together if ya want?" he offered to her as he took his hands out of his pockets. Before she could answer, Edward's smile turned into a small grin as he approached the girl and decided to lift her up as if she were a princess and he was her knight without even asking her if it were okay.

Edward then proceeded to walk towards the Academy while snickering a little. "By the way, the name's Edward. What about you?" he asked the girl, trying to make a casual conversation despite the pure awkwardness of this moment.

So he doesn't know...

Kasumi sighed in disappointment, her head dropping slightly. He didn't know. That embarrassing moment had been for nothing? Just her luck. The older boy grinned goofily, and Kasumi knew she was probably going to get a pat on the head or something, a comment on how cute she was, something along those lines. As he offered to help gh look for her, Kasumi quickly raised her hands to politely decline, already beginning to shake her head no, when he took her hand (Yes! Guessed that!) and then he--

Some random stranger was picking her up. He carried her like some knight carrying a princess, and that was seriously creeping the teen out. Before she knew it, Kasumi could feel that familiar sensation of tingling along her body... Oh no, not now, oh please, not now! Wait, actually maybe now would work... But wait! My clothes-- Within a matter of seconds, Kasumi had completely turned into mist.

With a quick maneuver, she pivoted, so only completely vapor parts of her body touched him, and she dropped straight through him. You see, when she turned to vapor... Kasumi's clothes diynt exactly turn into vapor with her. She'd found a way to keep her clothes attached to her mist body, but if any of her clothes had touched him then... She would have fallen through and the stranger would have been left with a pile of girl clothes in his arms. Not something Kasumi was sure anyone would want to see.

She drifted about randomly for a few seconds, then slowly put herself back together, collecting her molecules, and forming a flesh and bone human form again. The only difference was her now damp clothes. "A-ah! I'm, uh... Sorry! Ah, sorry, sorry!" Kasumi bowed repeatedly, again and again, absentmindedly drifting into customs from her dad's heritage.
