Sigh. (Open)

"I see you have a notebook?" she said almost questioningly, trying to spark more conversation.

Jarod nodded, slightly raising his book so that Chloe could see it better. "Yeah," he said, putting his pencil in the rings that held it all together. "It sort of like a diary," he admitted softly, embarrassed to say such a "girly" thing. "Sometimes I draw in it, other times I write about my day or the people around me." Like Vijay. He shooed away this thought quickly, shaking his head slightly without realizing it. "I've had it since 6th grade."

Chloe noticed how he seemed embarrassed and smiled lightly. "Most people don't realize how side having something like that is. Instead of keeping things to yourself, which isn't good for mental health, you write them down."

"Yes!" the fifteen-year-old exclaimed, showing a wide grin, glad to see someone understand his journaling. "That's almost exactly what it's like," he said as he flipped through a few of the pages in the book before looking back up to Chloe, his blush almost gone.

Yeah, he agreed with the girl opposite of him in his mind. He knew a bit about instrumental music from middle school band class, and Mrs. Sweet--the band teacher--taught on this idea more than once. Jarod wanted to ask Chloe if she had any piece memorized or something, but felt it'd be asking too much. After all, she didn't ask to see his diary, so he shouldn't ask her to hear her play, especially after he scared her like that earlier.

She looked a bit awkward as she ran over conversation points in her mind. "Um... Sorry, I don't do this much," she admitted, blushing again.

"No, it's fine," Jarod chuckled. "Neither do I, really. You're only, like, the second or third person here I've actually talked to."

She smiled softly. "Well, then I guess we're both rather new to Beata."

"Yeah," he said with a chuckle. "I guess we are."

Jarod tensed up initially, but relaxed not five seconds later. "I can control diseases," he said, a small smile on his face. "And yours?"

"That's really cool. I can create things," she smiled, holding out her hand and forming the little purple flower she always used to demonstrate.

Jarod's smile grew into a wide grin watching the flower. "Wow," he chortled. "Can you only do plant-life?"

"No, I can make all kinds of things," she smiled. "I can even do really small amounts of things like fire or water, but it really drains me. I can't make much, and it's hard to do. For a while I thought it was strange until I learned that the original elemental powers are basically sacred."
