The Summer Tournament....Brant frowned as he messed with his shield that was affixed to his left arm. His sword hung at his side, ready to be drawn at a moment's notice. His green eyes flashed as he stared across the barren, frozen wasteland that separated him and his opponent. What was his name? Renji? He didn't have a clue of what his power was, and he was left unsure if he would make it past the first round this time.
This wasn't his first Summer Tournament - he had been in the one two years prior but had lost to his now-girlfriend Destiny. He quickly chuckled at recalling that fight as he finished strapping on his shield. Who knew that randomly deciding to join in the Summer Tournament even with the knowledge that he wasn't going to go far would end him up with the girl of his dreams? Of course, it wasn't something he wanted to repeat this year. Destiny would be a bit ticked off if he got a new girlfriend, and making a necromancer angry seemed like a foolish thing to do. Not that he would even dream of dating anybody but Destiny.
But...Ah...He frowned slightly. He was getting a bit off topic wasn't he? He had to focus on the battle that laid ahead of him. He pulled out his sword from where it hung at his side, testing his grip on it before he leaned forward and gently poked at the ice before him. It seemed solid enough but...Was it hallow with water underneath it at some points? If so, he could maybe use this arena for his advantage. An issue with his gift was that it required close range, meaning that if he was ever against an opponent that had a ranged gift or weapon...They would have a chance to bring him down before he even got to them. Even his weapon choice required close range.
But what about his opponent? His green eyes flickered up to stare at Renji from where he stood, frowning as he straightened up. He really didn't know a thing about him. His gift, his choice of weapon...Not even what house he was in. And that all served as a disadvantage. He couldn't make plans of how to bring him down if he didn't know a thing, and he had a feeling that it was going to be a hard fight. But even if he did win...He wasn't going to make it past the next round. He knew who he would fight in the next round as not enough people had joined, meaning that some were put into the second round without a fight. And whoever would win this fight...Would have to fight Magic.
Now, Brant had never really met this 'Magic' character but he knew him as getting second-place in the last year tournament after a tough fight with the winner. Besides, he was a ranged person...So Brant didn't stand a chance. A sigh escaped him as he shook his head. Now, he wasn't really expecting to get all that far tournament but really that seemed unfair. Oh well, getting to the second round would mean he got farther then two years ago...So that was a plus.
Brant took a deep breath and released a small puff of flames, gripping his sword tightly as he waited for the bell to toll and signal the start of the match. He was going to give it his all - he wasn't going to go down without a good fight.
