Round 2: 'Magic' Stein vs. Brant Uri

It was a shame, you know? A shame that his last match had ended without a fight...It wasn't a real victory and he had already accepted his fate of losing this match. Brant sighed as he ran a hand though his hair, studying the environment around him. He stood in the middle of the abandoned street - well abandoned other then for him and his opponent. Speaking of which...His green eyes flickered toward where Magic stood uneasily, half wondering how long this battle would even last. He doubted very long but...He was going to do his best to survive as long as he could. He pulled out his sword from where it hung at his side, his shield once again affixed to his arm to ready to be used. His eyes glanced around the area around him, studying the placements of cars, carts, and doors in case he had to duck into one to dodge an attack. Only...It would be hard to see sound waves coming, wouldn't it? An almost angry sigh escaped him. This wasn't going to be an easy fight at all, was it?

Magic stood across from his opponent. Brant, a former prefect with him, both of them expecting to graduate when it comes in the fall. He figured this would be an easy fight, but he still wasn't going to doubt the summer's abilities. Anyone could pull off something when they were desperate enough, and there was also the fact that Brant had been at the school a long time, and probably had great control of his gift. If Magic wanted to get close it was going to be a bit tricky. Though he could feel it, the itch to fight someone, and he was finally getting a fight. He had a small grin on his face. He was going to have fun.

Well it was time to get his first battle started, though he didn't take off, and go charging in as soon as the battle was called to start. He looked around at his surrounding area. It was familiar to him. The streets the back alleys.. It was a big reminder of home, but the layout wasn't the same. Magic shoved his hands into his pockets, and looked back to Brant. "Well.. time to get this started." He said to himself. Magic took in a deep breath, opened his mouth, and let out a dangerous sound wave in the direction of Brant.

The moment the battle was to start, Brant raised his shield as he waited for Magic to make the first move. He thought about attacking first, but he knew it was a bad idea. The closer he was, the harder it would be to dodge Magic's attacks. So he held his ground, until he saw Magic's mouth open. His eyes widen, quickly getting an idea of what was coming as he spun and dove to the side behind a car. He was a bit slow.

Magic's sound wave barely hit him, but it was enough to send him rolling off target, but he managed to roll to his feet in motion as he ducked behind a car. He grimaced, his body aching where Magic's attack had nailed him. What was he to do? He glanced around, trying to see if he could find any route toward his opponent. He supposed there was the cars...His green eyes narrowed as he forced himself to his feet as he leaned on the abandoned car he had taken refuge behind. Taking a deep breath to prepare himself, he darted forward, ducking from car to car as he headed in the direction of Magic, hoping that if he kept moving, it would be harder for Magic to hit him.

Magic watched as Brant dove for a car, but he didn't make it in time and got hit by some of his sound. It sent him off his path slightly, but it wasn't enough to have Brant out in the open for another attack. The winter studied what the summer was doing. Every so often he ducked behind a car, taking cover behind the dense material didn't really give Mason a chance to attack. So why not just let him get close? It would allow him to do a stronger attack. So he just waited.

When Brant was at the nearest car to Magic, he stopped. The winter student hadn't even bothered to attack him when Brant was moving closer...Meaning he was waiting for him to get closer. He frowned, cursing the fact that he had to be such a close range fighter. What was he to do? He peeked over the truck of the car, trying to come up with a plan before he simply decided to screw it. He tighten his grip on his sword, before coming up with a simple plan before he darted out from behind the car and straight toward Magic.

It was a silly plan, but the moment he was out of cover, he slammed the hilt of his sword on his shield, creating a loud banging noise. He knew Magic had great hearing, so maybe that loud noise so close would throw him off? Maybe not, but he had to try it before he dove forward and slashed his sword at the ex-Perfect.

Magic frowned as soon as he saw the boy stop for a moment. He had figured out his plan, well that was a bit saddening. The winter stayed still waiting for whatever Brant could come up with once he realized that his first plan wasn't working. As soon as he saw the summer step out from behind the car closest to him, he opened his mouth to attack, but then his eyes widened a bit at was coming next. He couldn't do anything about the loud noise that was coming next. If he saw that coming sooner he may have been able to quiet down so it wouldn't hurt, but he had no time for this.

The winter flinched at the loud banging noise closing his eyes for a split second which allowed enough time for the summer to get close enough. As soon as the winter opened his eyes he saw the glint of a sword coming for him. Mason dropped to the ground quickly to avoid the wide arc of the sword. His hands slipping out of his pockets and being placed on the street ground as his leg swung out to trip up the summer.

Ah, he had stunned him for a single moment! Sadly, that moment passed to quickly when Magic saw the attack coming and ducked. Brant almost wanted to curse as his sword sliced the air. He however didn't see the leg sweep until his legs were knocked out from under him. "Gah!" he gasped as he found himself falling, but managed to catch himself well enough that he could rolled the moment he hit the pavement. His landing wasn't the smoothness and wasn't able to pull himself to his feet, instead stopping on his knees as he grimaced. His shoulder ached from the roll, but he didn't waste a time as he corrected his grip on his sword and spun, attempting to slice at Magic once more.

Shit. Being on the ground wasn't good, well at least Brant was on the ground to, but still. In a fight like this being on the ground wasn't good. Magic didn't have anything to shield himself from Brant's next attack. The winter reeled back and used his arms to protect anything important. He teeth clenched together tightly to avoid giving away he was in pain as the sword sliced across his for arms causing that familiar red color to spill out and down his arms.

Magic quickly stood ignoring the stinging his arms from the wound he had just received. He quickly opened his mouth and let out another sound attack that was sure to hurt Brant pretty badly from how close he was.

First blood! Brant smiled softly as his sword sliced though Magic's arms...Only for his eyes to widen when the black haired student's mouth open. "Crap!" he shouted as he threw his shield in front of him, barely defending himself from the sound waves. However, he was thrown backwards from the force of it, rolling head over heels before coming to a stop by banging into a car. He sat in a slump for a few moments, his head reeling from it as his shield arm ached from trying to hold that back.

His head hurt, having nailed it on the car but forced himself to his feet anyways as he let out a small growl, his throat growing warm as he prepared for an attack. "Don't you know?" he almost growled as flames flickered from his mouth with every word. "Its a bad idea to play with fire!" With a battle cry, he charged forward, his shield being held out in front of him as he gathered all of the force he could. Once he felt he was in range, he lowered his shield and released a giant breath of flames toward the Winter student. He quickly followed the flames and swung with his sword, half hoping that the flames would keep Magic from seeing the second attack coming.

Magic frowned at Brant's statement. Was he trying to make this more light-hearted than it needed to be? Of course with that statement Magic knew what was coming next, but if he wanted to avoid it then he had to wait until the boy stopped to spit out his fire. The winter rose his blood coated arms well his wounds were still dripping blood, but either it wasn't giving him pain anymore or he was just simply blocking it out. Either way it allowed him to continue with out have a distraction. The winter jumped back and away from the dangerous light as soon as Brant let it out.

The winter heard the Brant continued moving forward letting him know another attack was coming, so he moved back a little further just enough to narrowly avoid the swing, but it left the summer open for an attack. Grabbing Brant's arm while he had a chance, the winter emitted sound waves into the boy hoping to cause a lot of damage.

Listen. Being light hearted and charming was Brant's thing - he wasn't gonna let that up even in combat. Besides, it helped him deal with the stress of combat. He found himself disappointed as there was no sound proving his flames had hit his target, and when the flames died down revealing that Magic was even just barely out of range from his swing. Brant gritted his teeth as he made a move to back up only for Magic to grab his arm. He blinked in surprise, attempting to wench his arm free when Magic opened his mouth. Brant didn't even have time to utter a curse before the sound waves hit him. His sword clattered to the ground as he held back a scream. Who knew sound could hurt so much? He held his ground - which having Magic holding onto him helped. When the sound stopped, his whole body ached and screamed in pain and he felt the warm drip of blood leave his nose. He gritted his teeth, doing all that he could not to collapsed before he opened up his mouth with a snarl of pain, before breathing as much fire as he could managed at Magic point-range.

Listen. Destroying people in combat was Magic's thing. The winter was disappointed to see that the summer wasn't knocked out by taking so much to his body and his insides, but it would only take a little more effort. Magic knew the risk in getting close, but close is what gave him the greatest damage. Magic clenched his teeth tightly as he felt the burning heat on him, but he managed to step out of the way but not without burns. Though Magic was getting tired of this. It was time to put this to an end. Seeing how he just stepped out of the way of the fire, he was still close to Brant. Drawing back a fist, adding sound to it, he threw a punch at Brant's gut.
