The young man sighed, expecting to see that bitter look on her face again, but instead in it's place was far more humble, or genuine? He was never good with words, but it sure as Hell wasn't the same as it was a few moments ago. She didn't seem angry, nor so awkward, but...?
Whatever it was, he silently wished that she'd stop looking at him like that. Her words made him feel relieved, but the look on her face still only made him feel more guilty. This entire thing really had been stupid. "It's alright. We can just bury the hammer. ... Or however that saying goes..." He let out a small laugh. "Maybe start hanging out again?" It sounded so awkward the more he tried to put it into words. If other people were watching, maybe it would even have looked comical.
