| Lamia returned her own queasy smile to match his. She liked it when he smiled... it was better than when he was so tense or worked up about not trying to hurt anybody. Most of the time, she dismissed herself as not being able to do much or being absolutely worthless. Maybe the little things that added up could make a difference, even if it was a small one. Everything she did always paled in comparison to others, but, she could try to match up to them somehow. No, you can't match up to others. You're always one step behind. That voice was really starting to make her head ache... Or throb in pain more than it already was. The fact that she was so close to him made it impossible for him to see her blush, or at least that's what she hoped. It still didn't help that she was still shifting rather uncomfortably. But... hey. She needed to stop thinking about herself for awhile.
"U-Uhmm... wh-when is your... uh... b-birthday?" She really hoped she hadn't surprised him with that question because it honestly seemed so random. Now that she thought about it, this was the most she's actually talked in a long time. Not since then. Maybe it was an improvement?

| Yeah it was the little things that made the difference to people. While big things were remembered, Magic probably wouldn't forget that she had covered his ears for him, or snapped him out of being his old self.. or tried to make dinner for him. She was a good person in Magic's mind, and that is all that mattered to him. He really did enjoy her company. It was nice to have someone who wasn't afraid of him in some way. Honestly he could sit here for a while, but she was probably bound to move at some point. She was probably uncomfortable in her position now.
Yes the question was kind of sudden, but he didn't mind at all. "February 28th. When is yours if you don't mind me asking?" He said in a kind of polite tone. He was glad he wasn't born on a leap year. That would have made things weird, thats for sure.

| Removing her hands from the side of his head, Lamia didn't want to admit it, but she still needed to count on her fingers to see how far apart the months were. She didn't remember those sort of things at all... No wonder her brother was so willing to call her clumsy and air headed, even if he didn't have any ill intentions when talking about it. February... March... April... May. Three months? That was kind of funny - their birthdays were on the same numerical day. Did he mind that she wasn't using that same nervous giggle anymore and more of an ethereal laugh? "H-hehe... Mmmay 28," she replied after her rather short outburst. It was so unlike her.
Was this really the same person she had been frustrated with? Maybe she still was... Was that why she was acting like this? It was the same behavior that she had around Kearn, but, that didn't count. Did it? How did this happen? Lamia was starting to confuse herself more and more she thought about. One hand held up had three fingers up, and softly, she started, "U-uhm... a-about a-a-a minute ago... sorr---" She shook her head. No, it must be better to thank someone instead of apologize to them. It certainly got a better reaction out.
"Thank you for everything so far," she gently said with a brighter smile, her voice dainty and with that same air of light. Something she could finally say from the bottom of her heart. Finally... she managed to do something at this school. Something that maybe gave her a reason to stay instead of fleeing home to her family and somewhere comfortable.
Slowly swinging her feet down to the ground, she stood up with a minor stagger and slung her bag over her shoulder. With hesitant steps, Lamia made it to the door, but stopped herself from opening it quite yet. What the hell did she have to mull over now? Everything was settled and done, right? Right? Was she expecting him to say something? She didn't think so, or at least that's what she assumed. There was still that nagging feeling that won't go away... Maybe that's the reason why she didn't want to leave. That feeling... What was it?

| A smile grew on his face as Lamia thanked him for everything he had done. The way she said it just made him really happy. She didn't even stutter at all that time. He didn't know why, but he thought he saw a slight change in her when she said it. Maybe things would start getting better for her now. He had a slight hope that things would change for her. It was also pretty awesome that they were born on the same number day, but different months.
Magic was a bit puzzled when she stood up, but when she grabbed her bag and started heading for the door, he couldn't help but feel a little sad. He didn't quite know why he felt a little sad, but he did. He stood from his spot as well. "I'm guessing you are gonna go now? Be careful please.." He said. For some reason he kind of didn't want her to go. Maybe because he had fun. Yeah that may have been it.

| Was it bad that she felt crestfallen, dejected?
It wasn't like she was expecting anything. Slipping into the hallway, Lamia's smile turned to a tiny frown, closing the door behind her without another word. With a shaky breath, she reached underneath the bag's flap, and grabbed her phone which was just inside a small pocket so she wouldn't lose it. Gods, she looked terrible... But she just needed to look at herself for a bit, to confirm that that moment was real. That she had decently done something that would help someone else. That she just a tiny smidgen of worth. Staring into its depths, everything seemed forgotten. All of that frustration and everything else, just for that temporary time.
There was really nothing that could comfort her at the moment. That stupid nagging feeling, that throbbing pain in her head, and the way her heart wanted to flutter just whenever he smiled or appreciated what she tried to do. But... there was no way he could see her like that. Or any other way she should see him like that. If she changed the way their friendship worked now, everything would break apart. Her breathing quickly became heavy, and with her legs feeling weak, she leaned against the wall, not looking away from her phone screen for a single moment.
Someone's footsteps however, knocked her out of her own little world, and her eyes darted around, looking for the source all to be matched with a group of students looking at her oddly. Turning away, she thrust her phone back into her bag and drifted in the direction of the office. The girl looked down, not daring to make eye contact with anyone that walked by, her face was rather flushed and she was really hoping nobody was looking at her. Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, meekly grounding her heel into the ground. She must've been a really awkward burden to Magic...
