Setting Up [Closed] Empty
PostSubject: Setting Up [Closed]   Setting Up [Closed] EmptySun Dec 06, 2015 4:44 pm

Magic was busy in the Hall setting up for the Winter Formal that was going to happen Eventually. There were decorations everywhere some where in their places, on the wall, on some tables, some were still on the floor waiting to be put in their place. There was a clear space for the music equipment, and stuff, and another wide clear space for the dance floor. Tables that were missing chairs at the moment lined the edges of the hall.

Magic moved to put some chairs at the tables that needed them. Adeline was setting up with him but so far they hadn't exchanged many words, mainly focused on the work before them. Magic had his shirt sleeves rolled up above his fore arm to keep the sleeves from getting in the way of his work. He also had a small hair pin in his hair to keep his long hair from getting in his eyes. He really needed a hair cut The only noise in the room was the noise creating by the two working. And that noise happened to be Chairs moving slightly across the floor from being place at the table then being pushed under.

He paused in his work for a moment and glanced over to Adeline. He wanted to ask her to the formal, but his nerves prevented him from doing so at the moment. He was still kind of debating on it. Did she even want to go to something like this? Did he even want to go? There was gonna be a lot of noise.. He couldn't muffle it for it would ruin everyone's fun.. Mason let out a sigh.. He really needed to decide soon.. Why was this so hard to decided on?

Setting Up [Closed] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Setting Up [Closed]   Setting Up [Closed] EmptySun Dec 06, 2015 8:10 pm

They had started a good three hours ago on this assignment. It was something the school seemed to expect two students to do alone: decorate an entire hall for the Formal. The academy gym was well over six thousand square feet, excluding the additional rooms that were attached to its sides. This task was almost daunting and she was overwhelmed by its size, especially when it was as empty as this. Hollow, large, and it echoed with constant noise. Even with her normal hearing, she could tell that her footsteps were ringing against the walls, that whenever she dropped a box or other item, it was repeating itself over and over again until it faded into the distance. They had barely gotten the first quarter of the gym done. At first, they had attempted to work on the same portion of the job at the same time, such as getting the chairs and tables, but it had proved to be inefficient when she couldn't carry them without losing her balance at one point or another; it was now split so that she handled the more delicate decor while he set up everything else. For two friends who were supposed to be close, the fact that they were so concentrated on their work and hadn't exchange as much as a few sentences was nagging her.

Their first task was simple enough. Cleaning the floors and making sure they were shining and polish, the surface white and sparkling like ice that froze over a lake. Somehow, that hadn't taken as long as she thought it would and they hadn't finished within a mere forty five minutes. Yet everything else was far more difficult. Adeline's eyes had wandered to look at the checklist again, which sat right beside her feet. There was so much to do and so little time. How were they supposed to finish all of this in a day?

☑ Clean the floors
☐ Set up the tables and chairs (includes layout, decorations, and placing the cloth over them)
☐ Tie the streamers around
☐ Hang the icicles onto the ceiling
☐ Decorate the stage with ribbons
☐ Check the mic and sound system (make sure to retune the instruments that need it)
☐ Make sure all of the props for the photobooth were available
☐ Go to the cafeteria and ensure all of the appetizers will be ready for the Formal

They weren't anywhere close to done. It was Magic's idea to tackle all of the more difficult tasks first so that they could relax later, but even then, this list... as short and simple as it seemed, there was far too much to do. Her lips thinned as she picked up another false, sparkling pillar of ice and attached it to the ceiling. The box was set on a platform that moved with a remote, but the top of the gym was so high up. If she lost her balance, it wouldn't end well... Not at all. There was one question that kept lingering in her mind: whether to go home or not for Christmas. It wasn't that long after Formal, but she was scared. Too scared to confront her father, too scared to find out anything about her family, too scared to see them in person. Adeline had considered asking Magic to come with her, but he had enough on him as was. It wouldn't be fair to bring it up.

With a defeated sigh, she managed to complete hanging all of the icicles up, the gym ceiling now glimmering with lights that almost seemed like stars as they reflected the light in fractals, soft rainbow colors emitting from them. Winter Formal was an event that, as much as she enjoyed, it was much to her chagrin that she had been on stage. And won somehow. That didn't make any sense - she had asked the faculty if they had maybe miscounted the votes or anything along those lines, but they kept saying that it was her victor. No, there was something that kept telling her she stole it. A faint recollection told her that there was another girl, perhaps around her height back then, that looked so discouraged when she won and couldn't take the crown. The prince back then was Jayden Wright, one of the sons of the headmaster that attended the school. It only occurred to her now that the girl must've wanted to win with him. And Adeline felt awful for ruining this opportunity for someone else. It was her fault that someone's fun and enjoyment was ruined; she had screwed up the rest of their night, didn't she? Nothing good ever happened when she was involved. Not at all.

Placing her feet carefully on each ledge as she made her way down the ladder with the checklist in hand, her eyes were trained on the floor below her. The bad thing was that she couldn't feel if she did a misstep. Everything relied on observation, and truth be told, her vision wasn't necessarily the greatest. Though, it wasn't bad enough that she was slowly going blind, but it wasn't perfect 20/20. Maybe a little off her and there. A feeling of dread and terror welled in her as she kept going down. Magic wouldn't notice her struggling right? He seemed too focused on his current work that he wouldn't notice. He shouldn't have to worry about her... It felt like an eternity before she was half-way back to the floor. Just as she was about to take another step, her foot slipped and the only thing to confirm this was that she was suddenly looking up at the ceiling and falling back.

She messed up.

In all of her stupor, she lost her concentration and her movement was awkward and too quick, aided with her poor coordination, and she began to plummet to the ground. With a quiet, almost inaudible gasp of shock, Adeline squeezed her eyes closed, bracing for impact, disturbing the almost lifeless-stillness in the gym. She'd be able to live through the fall... Probably. If she couldn't feel it, then if she healed everything, it should be fine.

It wasn't like her figure was as fragile as glass... Who was she kidding?

Don't catch me.

Setting Up [Closed] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Setting Up [Closed]   Setting Up [Closed] EmptySun Dec 06, 2015 8:40 pm

Magic had two chairs in his hand as he went to place them at a table. He was too busy lost in thought about weither to go to the formal or not that he didn't even notice his friend struggling to get down the ladder. He placed the two chairs down at the table and returned to get two more, after those two he would be almost half-way done. It was a bit tedious.. He let out a sigh.

He was just about to reach the chair rack when he heard a sharp gasp. His head shot up and he turned around just in time to see Lamia fall off the ladder. His eyes widen with fear. He wasn't close enough! "Shit!" Magic cursed, as he reached out towards her. What was supposed to do? As if on que his gift acted for him, a standing waves being created in the spot that Adeline was. The wave catching her and causing her to hover just above the ground. "Fuck.." He said softly, he was use to holding something this heavy with a standing wave. He was only used to holding a tennis ball in the air not a person. He closed one eye under the strain, and gently set her on the ground.

After the tension was released, Mason had not moved anywhere, instead he bent over his hands on his knees to support his upper body. His breathing was heavy, and slightly labored. "Are you.... Are you alright?" He asked between pants. He would move over to her but he kind of needs a moment to regain his composure.

Setting Up [Closed] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Setting Up [Closed]   Setting Up [Closed] EmptySun Dec 06, 2015 9:27 pm

She was ready to fall, ready to hit the ground and deal with whatever consequence that came with her mishap. The problem was, her sense of touch was numbed - she couldn't feel the whirring breeze of air that came with gravity pulling her down, she wouldn't feel the impact, she wouldn't know when she had made it to the bottom. That was both terrifying and relieving; whatever damage she took would result in an easy possibility to feign that she was fine to Magic and the other part was that she wouldn't feel if her damage was bad enough that she could die if not treated. There were so many downsides yet advantages, but from the looks of it, it wasn't working to her favor right now. Ignorant to being caught by the waves, her eyes remained closed as they gently set her on the ground.

Her breathing was shallow, quiet, and the steady fall and rise of her chest was faint. The clipboard had slipped a bit out of her grasp, but her fingers had kept a steady held on it. For all anyone could say, she could've looked almost dead from how still she was or even sleeping. Adeline didn't move for awhile, laying on the floor, half-expecting death to embrace her with its cold arms. That didn't happen. Which could only mean that Magic caught her one way or the other. She didn't keep track of how much time had passed from the start of her fall to the end. Her eyes fluttered open carefully, readjusting themselves to the bright light shining from above, blinking away the bleariness that filled her vision.

Carefully she sat up, her eyes watching her hands. She was safe on the Grand Hall's floor. It didn't seem like Magic had physically caught her, but most likely used his gift. A small memory sprang back into her mind - his tournament fight with Leo. Magic had been using sound waves to hover through the air. Was that what he did? Barely managing to get up without losing her balance again - curse how poor her coordination was - Adeline turned her gaze towards him, her entire figure shaking. It wasn't because of the near-death experience; that was the least of her worries.

She exhausted him already.

Taking care to approach him cautiously, his voice almost passed right through, concern spreading across her features. Her hand placed the clipboard on the table, and Adeline tilted her head a bit, regret lacing her voice. "I-I'm s-s-sorry... I was c-careless, b-but I'm f-f-fine." That wasn't fair of her. Her mistake led to Magic taking it for her. That wasn't right. That wasn't fair. How did she mess up so badly? "A-are you a-alright...?" The question was returned back to him, and she didn't wait for an answer as she made her decision.

"I c-can finish the r-r-rest by m-myself if you n-need a break."

Setting Up [Closed] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Setting Up [Closed]   Setting Up [Closed] EmptyMon Dec 07, 2015 2:41 pm

Magic held out a hand to dismiss what she had said. He didn't need a long break, he just needed a moment. "I'm fine.... Just slight winded." He said, once again through heavy breaths. After a moment he stood up straight his mouth still open slightly to allow air into his lungs, but his rapid breathing had relaxed a little. "Just not really used to do that is all.." He really needed to work on it, and he didn't use it to hover around. He used it to save himself from getting crushed by falling rocks. Granted that was just for a split second, not an extended amount of time like it was with holding Adeline.

After a moment everything was back to normal though the energy he had was a bit less. And he probably wouldn't be able to use the stronger parts of his gift but eh oh well. Not like he needed it at the moment. "Why don't you check the sound system and what not? I will finish up with the chairs. It shouldn't take much longer, then we can tackle the rest together." It seemed like dividing up to complete the task at hand wasn't such a good idea especially if it included a person falling off a ladder.

Setting Up [Closed] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Setting Up [Closed]   Setting Up [Closed] EmptyMon Dec 07, 2015 5:40 pm

Just slightly winded? He was hunched over, hands on knees, and the way his breaths came out so heavy yet shallow. Every word he spoke was in between pants and Magic was practically hyperventilating, struggling to get the air into his lungs. Slowly, her hand subconsciously reached for his shoulder, hesitating only a bit. Giving him any time would only anger him again and render her useless in trying to help prepare for Formal, and a million other things flooded her mind, overworking her solutions. She withdrew, taking a step back, eyes crestfallen, a tiny frown growing on her face. This wasn't the time to be selfish and act without thinking... She felt small, weak, and utterly useless. What was she supposed to do? Couldn't even help him after he saved her life for what, the third time?

It really didn't help that Adeline had confined in him of all people that she didn't care that she'd die, that it'd be better if she did. She'd chosen the wrong person for that. The words had slipped back then; there was never a plan to tell anyone, it was supposed to be a secret. But that wouldn't ever work out. Things never worked out that simply. Now, Magic was practically doing everything in his power so that she wouldn't sacrifice her own life for another being. Why...? Her face was plainly written with worry and regret wide in her violet-blue irises. She bit the bottom of her lip, averting her gaze from him once again.

Her mouth opened to say something, but the words never left. Magic had spoken up first, directing her to the audio and everything else. One small accident and he had asked her to do something much simpler than before. It wasn't a lack of trust, was it? Maybe it was because she was so fragile and clumsy and couldn't do much. He was either looking out for her or trying to get a burden off his shoulders. The more she contemplated it, the more she found herself trying to persuade her own mind that it was the latter, but it didn't work. Why was he so nice to her?

Adeline wasn't used to it. The only people who bothered with the same kind of treatment before would be her own family and Callum. Those were the only people who would in the past, but here, in the present... it was happening again. She had to brace herself to be betrayed at any given moment.

With a vacant nod, she walked over to the stage, bangs covering over her eyes. This was the same microphone and speakers used back then. It was about two years ago when she had been asked to perform for the school dance. It was about two years ago since she was crowned Princess. Carefully, she turned the volume dial and flipped the mic switch on, tapping gently on it. A quiet boom echoed throughout the gym, and recorded itself through the sound device. Yup, definitely working... Right? Her hands fumbled around with it for awhile before turning it off with another sigh.

She was now sitting at the edge of the platform with the clipboard in one hand, pen in other, and neatly inserted a check into the box. Too much to do, so little time.

Yeah, because you're too fucking slow and terrible at this.

Even Kearn didn't let her do much when it came to decorating, in fear that she'd slip or injure herself. Did she come off as that frail?

Setting Up [Closed] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Setting Up [Closed]   Setting Up [Closed] EmptyMon Dec 07, 2015 7:52 pm

He didn't mean to make it seem like he didn't think Adeline could do anything. He just didn't want her to get hurt.. He had noticed her weakness as of lately.. It was more than usual.. Was she getting sick? No.. Magic didn't think that was it. If she was sick she probably wouldn't have gotten close to him or something in fear that he might notice something. He didn't know. He knew there was something wrong, and he was determined to find out eventually but not today.

He didn't quite understand why he was so concerned about the other winter. It just sort of happened. As he moved to put the chairs in place he couldn't help but get lost in thought. Why was she only ever concerned about helping others? He wish he knew.. If it was about killing other people then it was kind of dumb for her to act that way. It wasn't going to help with anything. Nothing was ever going to help with the thought of killing someone. Hell he killed a hundred people on accident.. then maybe a few more on purpose... It was something that was never going to leave his mind.

He felt his anger building up inside of him again but a few deep breaths later he was back to being calm and collected. Anytime he thought about that day he couldn't help but getting pissed. A few more table needed chairs. Due to being lost in thought when the soft sound left the sound system, he couldn't help but flinch slightly.. It was kind of like an automatic response. He let out a sigh, and continued his work. Why did her words that day cause him to get so angry? Why did he care about her so damn much? Oh.. shit.. Was he developing feelings for her? He stopped in his walk to a table with two chairs in his hands. His face paled. Was that why he was so keen on making her happy?

That was probably his motivation for winning her the prize the other day.. He shifted slightly, and mumbled to himself. "I have it bad.." Basically confirming that he did indeed have feelings for the girl, and he fully realized this now, even though he might of brought up the question to himself in the past. That would explain all the blushing from the other night. He quickly picked up the chairs and went on with his job before Adeline noticed his pause, and assume something was wrong.

After a few minutes all of the chairs were in their places, each table had table clothes, and their proper table decorations so that was something to check off the list. If he recalled correctly all they had to do now was decorate the stage, hang streamers, and make sure props were in their place for pictures. They could take care of the food stuff later. "Hey Adeline. I'm done with the table stuff." He called over. "What do you want to do next? Decorate the stage, or hang streamers?" He knew she would turn the question back to him, but there was no harm in asking.

Setting Up [Closed] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Setting Up [Closed]   Setting Up [Closed] EmptyMon Dec 07, 2015 10:53 pm

What motivated him to be so nice to her? Why just her? Why...? Questions stormed into her mind, leading to an inner turmoil as uneasiness grew. He didn't have any reason to. Magic didn't have to be around her or do anything with her, yet somehow, they always seemed to be coincidentally in the same area or he had arranged it or she had to visit his dorm or something. How couldn't he be bothered by it? To have to constantly deal with her fragile constitution and how easily sick she got, how easy she was to fool or manipulate and play tricks on, how completely clumsy and prone to causing accidents. It didn't make sense. It couldn't make sense. Even for a Winter, she couldn't link the chains together and find the connection. There wasn't anything to like about her. She was simple, plain, and a bore to converse with. She couldn't do much or say much.

As grateful as she was to have him as a friend, whenever he did something kindly for her, Adeline felt more and more indebted to him and that she was leeching off of him. Like spoiling a kid so much that they become bratty and unwilling to take 'no' for an answer. She was a parasite, a leech, clinging onto someone else and relying on them constantly to help her with whatever trivial matters were in her way. How pathetic could she get? It was stupid of her to let him get close to her. What an awful idea to tell him anything. Her life shouldn't be hanging on its thread for only one person, she shouldn't be asking people for help. It was her ideal to make everyone around her happy - who cared about her own feelings, right? Thinking that should've made her feel better, but it didn't. The more she let Magic in, the more it felt that a vital part of her was being ripped out and leaving her as a walking doll.

Wasn't that what she thought about doing long ago? Even if she was gone from the world, it'd be enough to be forgotten, drifting away with the wind and sea, as long as she managed to make enough of a difference in someone else's life that they were always smiling and happy. To see a world filled with joy and jubilee, living in a harmony as though they were an orchestra playing the same song in different parts. So why was she letting this keep going when... when... that time was going to come to an end for her. She'd been foolish, leaving those wounds from that day untreated to an extent, having to waste more and more time to heal it. Her storage was scarce and practically empty.

4 years, 1 month, and 7 days.

Heh, that number would keep going down faster and faster, wouldn't it? In all of her thinking, Adeline finally broke out of her stupor when she realized Magic had spoke up. Blinking in slight surprise, that was when she realized he was asking her to decide something. "A-ah.. uhm..." The words came out loosely, her tongue twisted in knots that wouldn't break free. What should she say? Was he testing her or something? He knew that she couldn't make a decision... "I-I uhm... wh-which one... w-would you pr-prefer?" Maybe he was getting tired of hearing her say things like that. She was scolding herself for her inconsideration, and weakly changed her answer. "I m-mean... I g-guess... uhm... st-streamers...?" She giggled a bit, sheepishly.

Her eyes never left the pen she was holding, which was twisting and spinning within her fingers as she tried to distract herself. Her voice came out quietly, almost inaudible and almost without a trace. The free hand came up to her ear, tucking a strand of hair behind it.

Magic blinked. He didn't expect her to answer at all, but when she did, he couldn't help but letting a genuine smile form on his face. Which only ended up bringing up another question. When was the last time he smiled like this? Oh yeah, the last time he did was over the vacation.. when he was with Lamia. That was another connection to liking her. He turned away from the girl, and went to grab the box which held the streamers. "Are we supposed to do those fancy looking streamers?" He asked as he looked down at the different streamers. With some places he had seen before they had taken two different color streamers put them together and twisted them slightly and hung them up on the wall, or different places. They could do that but it would take longer..

Setting Up [Closed] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Setting Up [Closed]   Setting Up [Closed] EmptyWed Dec 09, 2015 6:35 pm

Oh. It was one thing to ask her to make one decision, but two was adding on another piece that would lead to the wrong contribution and mess up the entire formal. Holding her front bangs in her hands, a contemplative look slipped over her face, her eyes closing as she tried to think back to the one she attended two years ago. Did they even use streamers back then? What kind of school still used these, anyway? Weren't they kind of childish? Her knowledge on how parties were supposed to be embellished was lackluster; she avoided most of them and only went to the first one because a friend had invited her to come with him... as friends. She turned her gaze back up to the ceiling, and then it finally hit her. They were going to have to use the ladder again. A sense of dread washed over and she couldn't help but want to keep away from it. "U-uhm... Th-th-they normally drape them k-kind of like curtains or h-have them gather in the center of the ceiling." The words came out uncertain and she was half unsure whether she was right or not. That was two years ago and her memory wasn't quite the best. Was that how they did it? Or was that what she thought she remembered from seeing pictures?

Adeline somehow wasn't certain that everything listed on the checklist was something they had to do, as she reread over it. Hell, it seemed like the more she tried to recall the decor used back then, the more it seemed like they had given the bare minimum for what the Formal had. While it was the Winter prefects' responsibilities to manage this dance, there was also the fact that the faculty might think it was overwhelming for just two people. The event wasn't too far off after all. That was wasting other students' time... why did they just let her do it on her own? She had nothing better to do while everyone else had their own business to attend to. With a soft, defeated sigh, her hand reeled in to grab some of the blue and white streamers, stretching them to her arm span. Much to her dismay, they were still drooping down, sagging onto the floor.

Too short.

Wide, blue irises turned towards Magic, her head tilting to the side a bit as curiosity was evidently written over her face. "What w-would you l-like t-t-to do?"

Mason shrugged. "I don't know too much about any formal dances or anything. The only parties I know are ones that involve a lot of inappropriate stuff, like alcohol, and other various things.." He said looking off to the side his eyes narrowed a bit. He was scanning his mind trying to think if he had ever been to a fancy event. It didn't take long for him to give up, nope he had never been to anything fancy before.

He looked back to the streamers and picked up a few himself. "Hmm.." He shifted in his spot as he thought trying to envision the room decorated, and what would look best. He was never one for anything creative besides music.. Why did he agree to this again. "I guess twisting them up would look nice." Magic took a step back and let out a sigh. "I don't know. I'm not good with any kind of decoration. I have never dealt with this before."

Setting Up [Closed] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Setting Up [Closed]   Setting Up [Closed] EmptyThu Dec 10, 2015 2:15 pm

Right, right of course... That was only expected. He didn't seem like the kind of person to attend parties that other students would host and considering that he was a leader of a gang before, she didn't know why she wound up asking him. It was a waste of time for him to ask that kind of question - they've spent five or so minutes trying to decide what to do with streamers. This whole event was hyped by the school, gripping the winter spirit, and if this was by some stroke of luck, she had been stuck with decorating with a friend whose relationship with her was questionable. Did they even have any sort of friendship? They had been driven to do this together, as prefects, and it was like the task had snuck up on them and forced them together. On the plus side, at least it wasn't with one of the other prefects, right?

While she had met the others during whatever student body assembly that the faculty tended to arrange ever so often, there were only vague ideas of who they were and what they were like. Keirsta and Leo, the two lovey-dovey couple of Autumn. Leo, who knew Magic's real name, and Keirsta, who knew that she was a murderer. Both were too sweet and kind and couldn't be seen without each other at one point or another. To say she wasn't somewhat terrified of the Spring duo was an understatement. A necromancer with bright red eyes and ghostly white hair and a young man who nobody else could see but hear; the few times Destiny had made him visible, Hieta was the epitome of a ghost - emotionless, blank stare with musky dark hair and blood crimson. And then there was Brant Uri and Alicia Vasquez. Brant, Destiny's boyfriend, and just as spunky and friendly as any Summer should be and Alicia, the brunt of trouble with Montare's actions in the rumors. Had Magic met the others? She couldn't remember if he had attended the meetings... Somehow, anyone but him would've been better to set up with. No way would she be expected to talk or do anything besides a few short words and she wouldn't feel so awkward all the time and queasy.

Adeline couldn't even meet his eye without thinking her palms were getting sweatier by the minute. "I-I'm s-s-sorry... I don't r-really know either." This should be much easier than having to deal with an entire earthquake that destroyed an airport or nearly drowning yourself or having to stand around and watch your friends fight each other to near-death. Yup, easy-peasy. No problem. Nothing to worry about at all. Haha... Maybe they should just stick to the basics, but at the same time, that'd leave more work for the other prefects that came in after.

Why was this so hard? Their decisions would last in everyone's memories while those incidents... were only for a few moments. She wished she hadn't agreed, but, she could never say no, could she? Figure something out, you moron.

Setting Up [Closed] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Setting Up [Closed]   Setting Up [Closed] EmptyThu Dec 10, 2015 5:49 pm

Magic had let out a sigh, and crossed his arms. It was up to him to decide. What would look better? He wish he knew.. He pulled his phone out of his pocket, and sent a quick text to someone. It didn't take long for his phone to buzz with a reply. "My friend says we should twist some of them up, and leave some alone. Says that the colors compliment each other well, and having a mix would keep things from looking too boring. I'm glad he knows what he is talking about." The person he had texted was a gang member back in chicago, who was pretty decent with decor stuff. Mason didn't know why he didn't text him sooner.

Magic walked back to the box and grabbed a few streamers. "Well let's get this over with.." He was going to start with doing the solid colors first. The winter walked over to an area and started hanging streamers. The writer doesn't know exactly how to write this so let's just assume that he is doing it properly.

Setting Up [Closed] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Setting Up [Closed]   Setting Up [Closed] EmptyThu Dec 10, 2015 8:30 pm

A friend? Adeline blinked, her head slightly angled to the side with a questioning look on her face. It wasn't that she was surprised that he had friends - Chicago made it evident enough that he practically had a large second family who cared about him back there -, it was just that, did he really not know what to do with the streamers as well? There were many things that she found him able to do without fail, and he always seemed like the kind of person with few faults. As much as he didn't go to normal parties, if he had a friend who knew how to work it, then wouldn't he naturally know as well? Maybe she was going too far and thinking about something that shouldn't be questioned. All of those times she felt envious of someone, Kearn had constantly pointed out that she looked at everything good about them rather than their flawed side.

Everyone seemed to have no real flaws and if they existed, they were the most minor things possible. Hence Magic's inability to decorate. There were too many things he could do and so little that he couldn't. The same seemed to apply to every single student at the academy except her. She couldn't do much of anything and whatever she did try always ended up going down the drain into inevitable failure. Her lips thinned as she gently lifted the streamer up, the paper falling through her fingers, cascading like a waterfall spewing foam at the end into a river that would never stop flowing until the sun's rays overheated the water and made it disappear into the air.

Sluggishly, she took a handful of colored paper and walked to the other end of the room, tacking them and wrapping them wherever it was deemed fit. There were a few moments where she felt tempted to glance over her shoulder back to Magic, who was working with unbroken focus. Too distracted. Need to concentrate. Right. As soon as she managed to finish her side and Magic had completed his portion, an unspoken agreement to take a break came to place. Truth be told, Adeline would've kept working since she wasn't - couldn't be - tired, but that'd only make him more suspicious.

Plopping back onto the stage, her eyes were trained onto the shiny, reflective surface of marble below, her feet hovering a little above the ground. The person looking back at her in the white floor had the ponytail normally tied up on her head was loosening itself, the scrunchie beginning to fall off in a lopsided manner. With a small sigh, she took it off, her hair falling with the ends laying on the platform, getting ready to retie it.

Setting Up [Closed] Empty

Magic had finished a bit sooner than Adeline and decided to go ahead and make sure the props were in place for the picture stuff. It was just a simple thing to do, but he did it a little slower than he would have liked, but that was because he used so much energy saving Adeline. Being a little slower was worth the sacrifice of saving his friend.

He walked back over to the stage and sat down beside her. He noticed that she was about to put her hair back up. He kind of wanted to do it. It had been a while since he had done such a thing, but he was pretty sure that he could do it. "Could I put it back up for you?" He asked softly, but loud enough so she could hear him.
