Alcatraz Abnormalities [Mission]

Iceman was debriefed on the mission quickly and was told his partners would be debriefed as well. The mission itself was that they would be flying to San Francisco and would be heading out to Alcatraz. At Alcatraz, they were to get rid of a rising group of gifted that was causing a commotion and was attracting the nongifted's attention. He was also told that they would be meeting at the entrance to the Academy, where a taxi would be waiting. Grabbing his stuff with his newly developed ice-arm, he headed out of his dorm and headed to the fountain by the entrance to sit and wait for the others. As he walked, he thought about his gift and how it had developed since his arm had been cut off by Maria. For one, he learned to create physical ice rather than just an icy mist. For another, he learned he can shape it to whatever he needs to be, which is how he created his arm. He created a large chunk of ice to cover his stump of an arm and shaped it into the exact copy of what his arm used to look like, except a clear-ish blue color. And when he connected it to his arm, he also made it so it functioned as a physical arm, so it is useful. And the ice is compacted so much that it takes a lot of pressure to even crack it. He would have to punch titanium in order to shatter it. He shook his head, getting his head out of his thoughts, and he noticed that he was already at the entrance. He sat down at the fountain and waited for his compatriots to arrive, noticing that the taxi was already waiting.

Renji ran out his dorm, backpack on his shoulder and phone in his hand. He thought he had enough time but apparently he over estimated his ability to pack. Running for who knows how long, Renji made his way to the school entrance, bending over and breathing hard. "Sorry... I'm... late," He huffed and stood up. The mission debrief was short and sweet, and he couldn't wait to go on his first mission, even if it was with people he didn't know.

Well a mission certainly seemed fun. Maybe. Although the idea of going to Alcatraz was not ideal, Bastien figured it wouldn't be too terrible. What he didn't know was whether these gifted they were supposed to tame were going to fight or not. They were on Alcatraz, so he supposed they were the worst of the worse prisoners. That was not something he was looking forward to. But he packed and headed down to the entrance, making sure his notepad was in his bag in case the people he was teaming up with didn't know sign language. When he reached the front entrance there was only one person there. He approached warily, not normally one to approach a new situation like this. He gave a wave at the same time as another person came running in. Grinning and a but wary he waved at this person too. Grabbing his notepad he scribbled: 'You guys ready?'

Well, at least they arrived on time. "You're not late, you're just on time." he said, waving at Bastien. When he noticed that he was writing on a notepad, he realized that he was mute. He waited the time it took to write down what he was trying to say and nodded. "I think we are. The taxi's over there." he said, grabbing his stuff and heading over to the taxi. He asked the taxi driver to put up the trunk and when he did, Iceman tossed his duffel bag into the back and waited for the other two.

Realizing how stupid he must have looked for thinking he was late, Renji stayed quiet, following the other student to the taxi. He tossed in his bag as well, and stood by one of the doors. "Is this your first mission?" He asked the other two, curious.

Bastien didn't know what would have been late, since missions didn't seem to have exact deadlines, from what he could tell. He was sure they did, but he hadn't heard about one for this particular mission. He was glad the first person waved back at him, though the second seemed lost in thought or something. It was natural for most to think him mute upon first notice of the notebook, but it was better for them to think that then for them to get to know his power right away. Grinning at the first guys response he followed with his things, notepad tucked under his arm as he too put his things into the taxi. The second guy asked a question and Bastien nodded. There wasn't much else required of that question, so he waited for the first guy to answer while heading toward the door of the taxi.

"Nope. I've been on one mission before." he said simply. He opened the door to the back seat of the taxi and sat down. "Somebody can take front if it gets too crowded back here." He made sure to grab the handle of the door with his normal arm so the door wouldn't freeze itself brittle. That was one of the side effects of his ice arm when he wasn't concentrating on it. Things would randomly freeze and sometimes shatter depending on what he froze.

He didn't have to tell Renji twice. Hopping in the taxi after Chris. It wasn't the best seating arrangement, but for going on a mission, it would do. "So, uh, how do you think this will go down?" He asked, not really knowing what else to say at the moment.

Bastien enjoyed listening to conversation as much as he enjoyed participating in them. He wished he could join in more, but for the moment he was glad to climb into the taxi with the other two guys and listen. Bastien wasn't short, per se, but he wasn't wide, so he figured his skinny body was okay in the back seat if the other two wanted to sit there too. When Renji asked how they thought it would go down, Bastien began to scribble stuff on his pad. 'I'm sure it'll be okay. If not, I can just talk to them.' He said with a chuckle, though they would likely not get the joke if they didn't know his power.

Reading Bastien's note, he was confused. Speak to them? Chris thought the boy was mute? It didn't matter, and he shook his head. "It'll be fine. The only thing we'll have to be careful of are the kind of gifts these people have. That and tourists. We gotta keep tourists away." he replied. Just then the taxi started off and they headed to the airport. It was a quick and easy way through airport security, and they were soon on the plane to take them to San Francisco. The plane ride was average, nothing interesting happened. Chris actually took a nap for the few hours it took. When they landed, they went through the San Francisco airport with no issues. Out front, there was a taxi waiting to take the three of them to a hotel, where they would spend the remaining part of the day and the night. A fresh start was required in the morning. The taxi dropped them off and they headed to there room. Inside the room were two beds and a hide-a-bed inside the couch. "I call a bed!" Iceman said, jumping on the farthest bed.

Renji gave a nod, and soon, the boys were off on their adventure. He'd never been to a faster airport, and wondered why it was so fast. Usually when he traveled for his musical tours, he could wait as long as an hour for a plane ride. Then again, they were on a somewhat small time schedule and didn't have that much time to spare. On the ride to Cali, the student plugged in his headphones and listened to his new tracks that were to be released to the public in the next few weeks, and before he knew it, they had arrived. From one vehicle to another, Renji thought it would never end and his butt was starting to get sore from sitting down so much. Thank God. He gave a sigh of relief as the trio finally reached the hotel. Renji followed Chris's lead to the room, and couldn't decide whether to be nice and take the couch-bed for the quiet guy, or take a bed. Screw it, I'm already sore enough. Tossing his bag by the foot of the bed, the tall student jumped on the other bed. "I call this one!" He said, finally able to relax.

It was silly of the first boy to throw off his comment as if it was nothing, but Bastien was unaware that he did this because he thought it didn't matter. He was right, though, about keeping tourists away. If they had tourists in their way, then it would get particularly messy. The taxi didn't take long to get started on its way and then it was mostly silence from there on. Bastien enjoyed the view for the most part, taking in everything they passed and everything they saw. There was mostly silence in the car so watching the outside world pass by was something he enjoyed along the way.

They reached the airport in good time and Bastien was able to pass through without problem. From what he could tell there wasn't any issue with either of his companions. They got on the plane and, as the rest of his group either fell asleep or did their own thing, Bastien made choppy conversation with the person sitting next to him. There was quite a bit to talk about thought the plane ride didn't take too long. He was a little sad to have to say goodbye but they were really nice. They took a taxi to the hotel where they would be staying and Bastien was practically glued to the window to see the sights.

He walked slightly behind the others as they headed into the hotel room and watched the first guy attack the first bed without a second thought. He didn't get too much opportunity to claim the other bed as the other guy was on it quickly and he wasn't able to speak for it. He sarcastically gave them a double thumbs up before flopping into a seated position onto the couch.

It was a very average rest of the day for the trio. They ordered delivery pizza, and then they all went to bed without much complaint. In the morning, Chris got an early rise to shower before the other two got up and hogged the bathroom. He let his ice arm dissipate from his body so the water wouldn't melt it. Getting out of the shower, he caused another arm to appear made of ice. He got dressed and was ready to go. He went over to the window and threw open the blinds that were keeping the light out. "Rise and shine, sleeping beauties! It's time to get started!" he said loudly.

The night was pretty chill, and before he knew it, Renji was woken up the guy with an arm made of ice. Trying to wake up quickly, he threw on some pants and a shirt, brushed his orange hair, and sloppily brushed his teeth. Since they were all guys, it didn't take them very long, and he couldn't wait to get started.

It wasn't a big deal, the rest of the day, though Bastien would have loved to go out on the first night to at least look around the city a bit. Some relaxing before the big day. But they were all tired from the trip, so he was okay with ordering pizza. He slept like a log and woke up the next morning to the sound of the shower going. It looked like the first guys had already woken up and was getting ready. Bastien didn't mind. All he had to do was slip on a pair of normal pants and a shirt and he was good.

He was putting his shoes on when the first guy came out of the bathroom and flung open the curtains. It was a pretty nice day outside. Bastien felt kind of sad they would be spending their day out on Alcatraz rather than enjoying the day, but it was what they needed to do. They next had to have breakfast, and since that was something the hotel offered with the room there was no problem with finding food. Bastien realized, before they left to eat, that he didn't know any of their names.

'I never introduced myself! I'm Bastien. What are your names?' He wanted to be able to address them by name if they ever got into a sticky situation where he needed to get their attention. Hopefully that wouldn't come and he would only need to write it out, but it was still nice to know their names.
